General Discussion / Weight of pens...

so my friend and i both use a msxa
we both use the same parts
the only thing differnt is the color of the inserts and the anyball grips on the comssa cap
but when we use each others pens, it feels so different
it seems that his msxa is so much heavier than mine, and he feels so too
i dont' know what the reason could possibly be for this
is it just our mind playing tricks on us
are rsvps possibly made differently at one point (although this doesn't really make sense)
could someone please explain this strange...phenomenon...to me -

Something to do with little difference, changing the momentum?
Have you actually weighted the pens? -

it doesn't feel like it's just a little difference, but no, i haven't weighed them
i think i'm gonna go to one of our school's labs one day after school and just borrow a triple beam balance or an electric scale
maybe i'll do that tomorrow if i remember
then i'll post those results
if it's the same, then i guess, you know, we're just both going crazy -

Well if its the same, try to weight it for example with one side of the pen on weigt and the other on something else (not your finger, that wouldn't be accurate), try it with both sides of both pens (that means 4 times)
Because little change in weight on one side can cause change in momentum
But you have to do this with very accurate weight (like those in labs) -

since ur so used to spinning with ur msxa it just feels like ur spinning something heavier
because ur msxa has different colored grips/inserts, etc. then ur friends, ur mind is telling u that it is heavier, wen it actually isnt -

yeah, that's what i'm thinking but i'm gonna double check
maybe i'll just pull some random kid in teh hallway over to the side and ask him which pen he thinks is heavier, or if they're the same
...make him close his eyes too so that he wont' be inclined to say the same if he sees them being so similar -

exactly, or maybe he modded it secretly -

You could hang them from two sides of a stick and see which way it falls from the center of the stick -

small details can really add up
for example, different colors of things can weigh different ammounts. If he just so happens to have heavier of all colors, it can add up to a much heavier pen -

I think it has something to do with angular momentum. There are some minor imbalances in the materials. And when you spin it at "high" speeds, such imbalances can be magnified.

when you say you both used the same parts, do you mean just by looking at it or really like dissecting each other's pen?
it could be that the guy with the lighter one forgot to put the HGG tip inside the comssa cap (COULD BE) -

nope, we both don't use tips inside the comssa caps
but yeah, i've taken his pens apart
