Hey,
i think the 3D Gif-Flags kinda jump out of the concept and dont fit in there perfectly. I dont know what you think about it, but non animated would fit better. Also it's kinda in the eye sight and somewhat annyoing when reading posts.
I'd like to hear your opinion on this. -

Right now, the flags don't distract me. Static flags would probably be better simply to keep attention to the thread content, rather than drawing the eyes away, but I'm not distracted, personally, by them.

I think it's very annoying with animated flags... gives me problems to focus when I read long posts and such.
Don't really see the point in having flags either, but that might be since I don't know all the different flags for all the countries which makes it hard to locate people.
Imo the name of your country is better. -

Wow, I have the best flag in the world under my member number! I don't see how you guys are getting distracted by a tiny little flag. lol. If it's really a problem, you can use Zombo's suggestion and everyone is happy?

Imo the name of your country is better.
I think the flags are an excellent idea because they portray and stress the universality of the board. If you don't get distracted by moving avatars (and I've seen some truly conspicuous ones in the past) then I don't see why you should become distracted by the flags. It's not too difficult to focus your attention on the text, because, after all, you had to draw your attention away from the emoticons on the side in order to post anyway. -
