Well this is my new mod and i think its one of the best pens/pencils i have spun with.
the only thing that is bad is that i keep thinking it is fragile and will fall apart when i spin but its not at all. its accually pretty durable. Check out test videos!

TEST VIDEOS
LEAD Break Test
Durability Test
The video is just the basics of what you need for the pen.
you can add your own look of gripping and outsert to make it look great
-COG = COP
-19.5 cm
-weighs a lil less than mx^2
-Mechanical Pencil
Add ons:
-Can add outsert
-Can add doube hgg tips to the front and one in the cap for more momentum
-Can add anyball grip on rsvp cap
Well the things you need:
-Pentel Sharp P205 Mechanical Pencil/staples metrix/jedo
-Comssa/Dong-a body (doesn't matter what kind)
-RSVP Cap
-2 RSVP grips
-Another grip (any grip you want, i just used a g2 grip)
-HGG tip
MIRROR VIDEO: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32346807/MPFX%20tutorial.mp4
questions:
1. rsvp cap is loose and wobbles?
add tape around the end of the comssa barrel
2. rsvp cap still wobbles
add a little more tape but dont make it so the cap is not able to move up and down smoothly
3. the mp tip is not stable on the comssa barrel?
try to use smaller strips of tape. dont use one long peace and try to tape it like that. use a bunch of smaller peaces and tape them on one by one tightly.
and if you are in access of hot glue..use that over tape.
4. dont have any jelly rolls?
you dont need to use only jelly rolls. you can use g2 ink tubes or anything that is around that size tube.
you can even use a straw (good quality one like the kind for slurpee's)
5. led tube is too long?
take it out and undo the tape. cut the extension accordingly to ur situation and put everything back together again.
Tips:
-try to use shorter peaces of tape when taping tip on to comssa body
-when cutting the little white peace from the mech, try to cut it a bit further back then add the extension (like jelly roll, g2, straw) in between because then you will have more room for the tape on to the mech-if you run into a problem, try to think first of how to fix the problem before posting. you might learn something and apply it to future mods
thank you -

They're like draft pencils or something, usually really expensive, hard to find, or both.
I have yet to find any, except at school, my engineering teacher gave me a few. -

You do need a comssa body right? It didn't say so in the first post.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 17:37:25
You need a Dong-A Sign Pen for the body.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 19:55:03
Awesome mod + tutorial. I'd make it right away, but those stupid P205's are like 12$ for 2 here, so I'll see if I can come up with a different way of doing the mod first, lol.
And on another note, go NSL. ;D. I used to love that place, haven't been in like 8 months + though. Other stuff started getting more important .
Off to find some mech pencils! weee

Nice tut...im way too lazy to even consider a video tutorial haha. And I haven't made this mod before...the mech pencil i made using a comssa body looked like this.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 21:51:07
just made it, great mod. i used a p209 though, and i used more of the gelly roll ink tube and it doesnt have an eraser, but still great!
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 22:13:18
looks great k4s! i havn't seen that one before
and i cant wait to see your guy's results.
oh ya comssa body...man i cant believe i forgot about that hahah -
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 22:44:16
great mod
saw that mech pencil the other day when i went to target, and then my friend saw it again when he went to pearl paint..but both times we didn't get it >.<
who would've known that it would be needed in such a great mod
*sigh* should've bought it...
the part with the scissor and cutting the grip in half was kinda confusing though...didn't get what the point of that was...
and loved the durability test xD, most people test it just by dropping it on the floor...you on the other hand decides to chuck it into everything in the room -
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 23:00:39
in the tutorial how do u cut the back part of the pentel sharp with that small blade so easily?
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 23:06:05
oh damn, sexy, i gotta get me some p205's and make this
-
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 00:12:58
JC-
The part when i cut the rsvp with scissors is so you can fit that part inside of the other rsvp grip.
that when you put the smaller grip inside of the rsvp grip, it holds the metal tube part in the cap. (if you understand)
because if you dont have that then the metal tube wont be connected to the rsvp cap. you need to have a grip inisde a grip to decrease the diameter
and the metal part will fit tight.
santa-
not sure lol...
i jut pressed really hard down with the razor and it went flying out...dont lose it tho when it goes flying -
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 01:17:39
yea i was cutting rsvp stripes and i lost some
-
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 01:24:32
i just finished making one. I lost the metal cap so I had to use a G2 inktube so the cap is wobbly. Overall it's pretty good.
-
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 21:43:31
oooh, i got it..that makes sense
oh, and one more question
since it's a comssa body, i'm guessing that it's light in the middle, right?
is there any way for adding weight to the middle? like is there anyway to stuff some stuff inside to increase teh weight in the middle? cause i don't really like mods with a really light body that much...(actually, the hcmx isn't that bad...but overall, i don't really like mods with light bodies ) -
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 21:46:32
I don't think the body is very light in the middle because of the mechanical pencil mechanism inside it.
-
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 21:46:37

well, the original stuff was taken out and then replaced
oh well, i'll just have to make one to find out
even if it's not to my liking spinning-wise, it's still awesome xD
if it spins anything like the hcmx, i'll be happy thoughQUOTE (nolan @ Jan 7 2008, 04:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>what are you guys talking about when you say durability test?

it might be light to you guys...but i think its a fantastic pencil to spin with.
its not light at all and momentum is real good. just try it first. if you dont like it then
you can wrap like paper around the mechanical mechanisum if you understand. -

A ton =P.
I competed in NSL, got to semi-pro : O! It just got way too time consuming though and at that point I was still using PS7 and everyone was using photofilters to do stuff (CS and up only), so I couldn't keep up with them. I used to be quite good at it though, and it was a fun time =P. Now all the time I used to use on it is devoted to drumming, college and pen spinning =P. Ah well.

Hello, and a wonderfull (whatever daytime you might be reading this....)
If there is one thing I prefer to all Pens, it's a pencil, especially as a leadholder with 2mm diametre or a mechanical pencil. The Professional term is "TK-pencil".
The Pentel 205 (203, 207, 209) Series is the classic Series of mechanical pencils, they have been the first one's ever produced and just slightly changed. I have one from my mother from 1971 and it already looks the same from the outside.
They are avaiable all over the world and range around 550 Yen, 5 Euros, 5, 6 dollars normally, if they have the classic shapes and colours.
For me, a pencil has to be able to write. Especially a TK always needs a lead holding device, so you get a good view on what you are doing and the lead does not brake.
So, to be the detail-searching freak and wisecrack again, I like the video, hard work, good thinking to do the mod.
Congratulations to you, TEK; for another very welldone pen.
The only thing why I think it is not suitable for me... it looks like the graphite lead is "hanging in loose air", and is quite far away from it's original lead holding device. So I feel, right now, I have not build this mod yet, even with a hand used to draw and write day and night, it micght be difficult to actually use it, without breaking leeds on and on.
Or the leads cracking inside the pen while spinning and falling sometimes.
Just let me know your experiences in this question, TEK and everyone else who owns this modification, I am quite curious and thankfull for all answers concerning my worries.
Thanks a lot for your time

Yeah, I'd actually be curious to know how the lead stands up to breakage too, before I start making the mod. If it's impossible to use as a pencil without writing super lightly, it isn't worth it : (. -

well if he is scard the lead will break...it wont lol.
the lead uses the same tip as the orginal mechanical pencil tip (with the hgg tip over it)
but if your not scard about the pointy tip...you can use less teflon tape than i used...somthing like this

but um
more momentum than an mx
more weight
more length
more balanced

no
not nub at all
exactly...in my videos and tutorials...i just show the basics of the pens.
you can do whatever you want with them. try new things...go wild. dont get to exact on everything asking for measurments and what not.
but ya you can add stripes like i did. -

if the insides can fit inside the comssa cap and click up and down with the metal screwed on and stucking out of the comssa tip like in the video.
than it should work. -

lol i dont have it. luckily the local stores do.
ill try it and report, in the worst case ill end up with a mp to write with ;; -

when taping the little piece of the inktube to the mech pencil, does it matter whether or not the inktube goes inside of it?
everytime i click the thing, the rest of mech pencil comes out along with the tip...i think it's cause my comssa hole is too big. is there any way to fix this problem?
the small inktube that i use also has this kinda oily stuff inside of it so whenever i put the lead in, the lead doesn't reach the bottom. does water wash this oil out?
how much of the metal clicker should i be seeing before i click on it? cause i feel mine is a bit low, but i just wanna double check..
sorry 'bout all the questions, i only have one mech pencil to work with and i dont' really wanna mess it up (although i sorta did already -__-'') -

Just made an black + white MPFX. It's quite heavy and has more more momentum than I'm used to, but I like it -- it's very balanced. Bad thing is, the cap is loose. I tried putting tape, but that made it hard to push the cap. Anyone know how I can solve my problem?

hey TEK how well does the metal cap of the mp hold on to the grip? er how well does the grip hold it on.. i dont want to be clicking it and it pushes in all of a sudden...

yeah the cap on mine is loose too " -

oh dang so many questions when i come back lol.
ironic cuz i just got a bunch of these mps today. only they have different cartoon design on them..freaking skulls...i hate skulls.
but:
it kinda doesn't really matter what ink tube u use. all that matters is if the ink tube is about the same size as the mp mech. im going to expiriment with straws and see how that works out...
if it comes out to easily...then put more tape or superglue it. but yeah...if ur hole is too big it might just all come out. and i forgot to tell you guys this but dont screw the tip on all the way. first make sure it
can click before taping on everything.
and for loose cap. (ok im going to refure to "the part where you cut off" that means that little white thing i cut off behind the mp mech) well how the cap is held on...is "the part where you cut off" that is supposed to go under snugged with the metal cap. in the tapping of the mp mech, inktube, and "the part where you cutt off", make sure there isn't much tape around "the part where you cut off" because the metal cap is supposed to go over that not just what you have left after taping it on if you understand what im saying. usually the similar mps for pentel and jedo work better because their "part where you cut off" is longer
than the mp that i used for the tutorial because its shorter. i hope that helps.
now for metal cap...in the tut it says to stick the rsvp grip allt he way in the rsvp cap. the grip i supposed to be touching the top of the rsvp cap (where the little ball is) and going down to the buldgy part.
that is for balance, looks, and also so that there is no room for the mp's metal cap to be pushed upwards when clicking. if the cap is riding up than you should make the rsvp grip a little longer. or use a longer
inktube in the taping part so that the whole mp mech is longer. the whole inktube part is because the mp is not long enough to reach the end of the comssa.
ok lost of writing but i hope that helps all your guys problems. if you have any touble with ur mpfx's...you can pm me and if you want...send ur mpfx to me and i will do it for you for free. -

Check out tek's youtube. I think he has a vid in there somewhere.
Oh, and by guess and check, I applied the right amount of tape so that the cap is stable and it's easy to push down. Yay :D. Also made sure that the cap was held in well by the grip in the cap. -

Indeed, the choice of music made the tutorial fun to watch. JMTs got nice beats. And this is the best pencil mod I've made so far. If anyone needs a pencil mod, make an MPFX....or buy one later from tek's sale thread. -

Okay, so I made one, and had trouble with the extension of the MP part. The cap was pretty wobbly. And my friend pulled the cap off and the section that I taped on just pulled right out (maybe it was the tape lol)
So I figured out how to make the cap very secure, and barely wobble at all
I started with the MP part (with the section cut off for extension). Then I got a G2 inktube and sanded the end of it to decrease the diameter so that the metal cap from the MP could slide on easily, but still remaining tight. Then I cut it to size the G2 inktube by cut-and-check (lol) until it was the correct size for it to stick out of the comssa barrel enough.
This way, the part that goes int the metal MP cap slides ALL the way up into it, keeping it nice and secure so it cannot wiggle as much as before.
I hope this can help people out with wobbly caps -

hahaha niice drawing LITS
but uhh...it is supposed to come out of the comssa barrel.
but only the gold metal part and maybe some of the spring.
if you think you have cut to much and the metal tip just goes in the comssa barrel as well then its done.
use a new one.
just try to cuz little by little until you got it.
first off the comssa is like:
Sponge tip
then holder stonge tip
then it buldges out. thats where you cut it.
a little more than 1cm down starting from the sponge tip thing. -

This mod looks cool but its a total pain in the ass to make. I had problems getting the tip of the Dong-A to actually hold the pencil inside it. It just pops out the other end... I cut the smaller circumferenced nubbin off of the tip of the comssa and the hole in the tip was too small...then i cut just a small amount more and the hole isnt strong enough to hold the pencil inside it.
Also had issues getting the metal eraser cap from the pencil to go onto the back of the leadtube. The only part that was fun was taking the Comssa apart (now i think i'm gonna have to toss the whole thing. The teflon tape part went really smooth, i think i'm going to use that method other than using Gorilla glue from now on. Teflon tape is cool.
Just so everyone knows i used a P205 pencil. Dong-A straight from the box. Perhaps those pencils arent the same as the Jedo.
I think i'll rate this mod. Whatchu think Aries?

This is seriously pissing me off
1. The lead tube comes out too far whenever I click it
2. The lead doesn't come out
3. The lead tube comes out too far whenever I click it
4. The RSVP cap is loose and I can't get to be just snug enough to stay on
5. The lead tube comes out too far whenever I click it
So basically I can't write with it, I can't spin it, and I killed my comssa, black RSVP, and a bunch of RSVP grips
I was trying to get a G3 so I could make a GJH, but then this was screaming at me to make it, and I thought "what the hell, might as well try it"

ahh, nice renewed tutorial
i remember you mentioning the possibility of using a straw instead of a inktube some time back, but i didn't think that the straw would be stable enough for it to be pressed down on and not collapse on itself
oh, and you put down like a million little pieces of tape on your desk xDDDD nice xD
well, there weren't too many changes but it seems easier (or maybe it just went by much faster...) to make and people'll have less difficulty with it
perhaps provide the length in cm or mm as for where to cut the comssa barrel in the front and where to cut the jedo mp tube? =\
as for straw length, i think that's easy enough to figure out once we know that the whole piece has to be around 14-14.5 cm and whatnot
thanks for the updated tut Tek -

well its a bit harder to make with the new tech.

Wow tek, just tried your new way of making it and im pretty sure all of the problems i had before are gone. I find the mechanism is much more stable when cutting it lower and here is the biggest problem i had before.
when i pushed down the cap too many times, it pushed itself under the tape and the mechanism and got the end part of the mech. stuck in the metal cap.
good job tek! -

The mech tip won't get bent or flattened. since you put an hgg tip over it with teflon...

if you put enough teflon to screw on the hgg tip, the point of the mp won't show
if you use less teflon, the point can stick out -

this has happend to my friend m3x_spinner
it really all depends on what you are planning on using it for...
some light spinning in class while using it to take some notes..
or full on spinning outside over hard surfaces while writing every once in a while.
if you spin in class...i say you can have the tip of the mp stick out a good amount if not then just a bit (maybe 2mm) depends on how you like it when writing
if you are going to spin it outside a lot...you can make the tip go inside or flush with the hgg tip by adding a lot teflon (trial and error for perfect length) -
