how to mod the 2 cap zig clean color TC-6000?
-
Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 09:15:52
Need:
-Zig Clean Color x 1
-Twin art Marker(Caps) x 2
-Signo Tip x 2
-Grips(SuperGrip is used on this one)
1. Take the Twin Art caps off and attach them OVER the Zig caps(they don't fit, so use teflon tap or whatever to make the Zig cap thicker).
2. Attach grips over Twin art caps.
3. Attach Signo tips to Twin Art Caps.
seeing you're Singaporean, all this stuff can be found in a Popular bookshop. Signo tips are optional by the way. -

idk if you've had any luck with Dathroats version, but if for some reason you cant get the caps (i made this mod because i couldnt get a hold of them) i have a slight alternative. i tried to make it very detailed and easy to understand. if ppl started to genuinely be interested id post photos of the steps but i kinda doubt it. this is mainly just a response, and not a "new mod". sry in advance if im unclear.
need:
1 Zig clean color(i gutted the insides of the original marker)
2 Signo tips
2 Sharpie ultra fine caps
grips of choice- i chose some profiles
1. screw signo tips onto zig caps, they should screw into the plastic a bit, and then you can use tape to secure it.
2. if you hold a sharpie cap up to the light you should be able to see a darkened band a bit lower than the nib, if you cant see it just cut the sharpie cap to 3.3 cms, when you make the cut make sure that you are making the cut 3.3cms away from the cap opening(you are essentially cutting off the nib to make a hollow tube). repeat for both caps.
3. file/sand/shave the plastic ridges on the zig cap until the sharpie caps can fit over it snugly, take this step slowly you dont want it loose but you dont want to have to stretch the cap to fit it over, if it ends up too loose tape can fix it.
4. place the zig caps inside the sharpie caps and cap onto the body(original opening of sharpie should be facing inwards to the body when capped) if you did it right it should feel like one cap if its snug enough, it should cap and uncap as one piece and the signo tips attached to the zig caps should fit through the top opening of the sharpie caps.
final product- 19.5 cm http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/8959/zigmu1.jpg
Extras:
For K4S's KT Bictory you cut off 2mm for BOTH sides
Dont have Sharpie caps? No problem? you can still make a nice mod. i like sharpie caps because the caps become part of the spinning room and i like my pens uniform with lots of spinning room. When you wrap tape around the Signo tips wrap enough to slide you favorite grips on. Ive had good experience using rsvp grips to cover the ends. I also use profile and/or g2 grips over the ridged part of the cap as well as at the very ends for infinities.
Q: Whats your stance on the OJ Simpson murder case?

For DaThoart version, I would like to know, the twin art marker, which cap are we suppose to use, the bigger one or the smaller one?
And For the super grip, how much are we using?
If possible, can put up a picture of it too? Thx. -

it's not the 'DaThroat version' lol.
the orginal mod was ultimatsz's i think.
Use the bigger cap of the twin art marker, and use all of the SuperGrip grip which is not 'frizzly'.. If you like maybe use 1 or 2 sections of the 'frize'.
G-techmatic grips/G2 Grips can also be used.
I can't get picts for now..... Heck just come to SGPSG 6 and find out haha.
btw you can remove the ink and put a pencil inside for a more even weight distribution. Unless you still want it to write of course. -

@gunblakes- as far as removing the ink you take a spare grip and grip the ends of the zig hard and pull it off once both are off push it the ink on a flat desk with paper over it to jam the tip out then just grab the final piece and wash your hands, the thinner end should just pop out.
@tomohiro- about the sanding you do have to take off quite a lot i personally shaved it down with a razor but if you shave it down do it in thin layers to find that optimal snug fit the ends of the cap have to be slightly thicker than the zig body
@boyboy53- maybe another day?
oh and to everyone when your finished you can also do k4s's bictory technique to this, ill update another day with more info on that havent finished it
*edit- made an "Extras" section for the tutorial, definitely worth a glance -

hmm my way of making is a little different...
-=Materials=-
2 twin-art marker (colour of choice)
1 Zig Clean colour marker
2 Dr.grips (grips) or G2 EX(grips)
2 tips of choice
1 normal pencil
1 roll of tape
-=Modding=-
1)get the zig clean colour marker and remove its caps then use a plier to remove its inktube, backplug, etc.
2)Use scourge tape or teflon tape to wrap around the whole pencil to increase its thickness and insert it into the zig clean colour maker (the pencil will be long than the marker so its allows you to put the twin-art caps on)
3) remove the BIGGER cap of the twin-art marker and put it on the pencil and just add the grips and tips on and ur done!
EDIT: Nexstage shaker tip doesnt fit, it wobbles -

Wow Darren, u have the same method of making it as Gunblakes. Btw, for my mod, i use signo tips on the outside of the twinart cap and use the tip and metal shaft thingy of a ZT for the inside and dr.grips for the grip. Just 1 modded twinart cap could weigh about 6-8g... (Maybe more) -

We kind of have two threads about this? Well the other was more of a tutorial for iNoob's version but it turned out as a discussion thread for the mods in general.

No one but him could take a picture of those exact mods, if he still has them even. Just read in the topic I posted a link to before to read about the different versions, as far as I know DaThroat has been spinning the pen both without tips and with G-2 EX tips.

Erm.. I think all Zig mods should look more or less look alike, the difference is in the cap color combination and tips. -

put up the pencil method too.
for spinners who like heavier pens, use the pencil method. + g2ex tips and grips. -

the normal one with signo tips and super grips is heavy enough >.>
-

IIRC, the caps of the twinart marker isn't of same size. One is more fat and round while the other is tapered.
Which side to use ah? o_o" -
Date: Fri, Oct 10 2008 09:09:59
You need two twin art pens, and use the big caps only.
