Seriously, I keep printing inserts with colors that aren't quite like the RSVP / HGG colors, so if anyone has Hex codes, or could fix Hex codes for the colors of the grips I would love them <3

The ones I need atm are: RSVP Green, RSVP Red, RSVP Blue, RSVP Skyblue, Moonz Silver.

Doing it through pentel is financial suicide. they overcharge like mad if you want something done. Getting it thorugh a 3rd party vendor would be better.

haha that would be funny if you asked them to put
Pilot RSVP on it lol...i wounder what they would say.

but ya i would prolly never do that...well maybe but i'll never spin with it cuz
after spinning it for a while and having it in ur pocket...it eventally will rub off.

  12. WhiteFang

but doesn't it rub off? i don't see the point of spending ur money on it if its going to get rubbed off..

I think they're more durable than the ordinary writing, so it's harder to wear off.

  14. CalhounSpinner
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 19:32:39

I spin an MSXA, so it's like an MX because the RSVP ink is reversed.
But, no matter what, they ALWAYS explode out the end getting ink freaking everywhere.
Is there a solution to this prevent these explosions?

  15. 11Thrasher11
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 19:45:57

That has nevr happend to me. Is it exploding in the barrel or out of it?

  16. Radiance / Rae
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 19:47:14

my MX's/MSXA's never explode ther ink....do u cut yours in anyway? that might be the problem.

u could put a toothpick at the end of the inktube to prevent it from "exploding"

  17. CalhounSpinner
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 20:07:43

Well, for the INK BARREL, it explodes out the end opposite the ink barrel tip.
    It gets everywhere.

  18. JDubbin
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 20:47:57

faulty ink tubes? Ive never had an ink tube explode on me unless I altered it in some way.

  19. Floating Duck
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 20:54:30

I remember a thread like this on ucpsb and the glue it the back of the tube breaks and all the ink comes out, so i guess it would be from spinning a pen for a long time and dropping it alot.

oh and nolan you should stop making useless posts.

  20. CalhounSpinner
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 21:03:56

If I seal it with glue or something, it won't write correctly, will it?

  21. Frip
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 21:29:42

    Hmm I thimk it won't write..but it won't explode too^^"
If you want to write with the pen then you shouldn't spin too hard with it...but if you wanna spin hard with it then you should puth a piece of an Toothpick in the end of the ink barrel. When you put thatr toothpick in the ink barrel, it can't explode anymore wink.gif
So you have to choose between spinning or writing XD

  22. -JC-
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 21:40:42

if you don't wanna write with it...take out the inktube wink.gif

but i drop my msxa all the time and i write with it too, and i've never had this problem... ohmy.gif
if either of us remembers on wednesday, we'll compare our inktubes happy.gif

  23. Teddy
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 21:50:39

this has never happened to me but i have seen it happen

i think it happens because of force and pressure within the barrel changing too often

in simpler terms if you drop it too much from high enough this would probably happen

  24. Outlander
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 22:38:08

Yeah, glueing up the end of the ink tube stops the ink from comming out both ends laugh.gif

All my pens write and most use rsvp ink tubes and I've never had this problem. I have had the ink bubble from the writing end of the tube after spining for a long time, but a quick mark on a piece of paper fixes it happy.gif

  25. CalhounSpinner
    Date: Mon, Dec 31 2007 23:18:06

I think it's because I never really WRITE with the ink.
Maybe that has something to do with it?

  26. Novastrike
    Date: Tue, Jan 1 2008 18:49:09

That happened to me when I made my 2nd MX which mother threw it away cos leakage of ink.
But my first and second MX doesn't have this problem so far...

Hmm... A suggestion, maybe you can use plier and close the end of the tube?
I never tried it before though...

No. More like a rapid, large leak.

  29. JDubbin
    Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 07:32:28

Maybe the whole in the back of the rsvp cap isnt large enough, believing that you are making an MX.

If the whole isn't large enough and u begin to twist the back cap, it may be twisting the end of the ink tube causing it to explode.

Actually, for the ink barrel, it explodes out of the open end. Not the end with the tip.

  32. Crzyazn
    Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 21:15:20

It's happened to me before and a few procedural changes during modding have stopped it.

    Here's my theory:

When you shove the cap onto the the inktube (with the hole drilled and tube reversed etc.), it creates pressure against the RSVP grip inside the cap. The further you shove it in, the greater the air pressure (only if there is a tight seal). Once the pressure is great enough it can force the ink out of the other end of the tube.

It's probably wrong and physically implausible but w/e wink.gif

To stop the ink from exploding you have to push your MX or MSXA cap past the RSVP back cap a few millimeters. If it's lined up with the back cap and you drop the pen, it shakes the inktube up.

Well it depends on what kind of RSVP you have. There are different sizes of ink and RSVPS. Your color back cap are most likely from a fine point so the back cap is smaller and your black cap is most likely from an medium point. Check the lettering on your RSVPs and see what colosr they are. The silver is smaller than the gold. Common mistake! biggrin.gif

All the rsvp i get are RSVP fine and the black back caps definitely fit tighter the majority of the time. I have no idea why other than minor differences in the molds they use when they manufacture the back caps dunno.gif

A friend of mine has a black RSVP, and he can't make the cap pass the backcap. it just like the backcap is a bit bigger, or the cap is a bit smaller. but we can't buy black RSVPs in Israel at the moment, so I can't tell you if it's just his pen, or all the black ones...

  50. MX kid

I just screw the backcap really tight, and blue rsvp's always have a loose cap. i dont use blue rsvp's for pen modding except for the body since the blue color is really not blue. i thought that all fine and medium rsvp's were the same?

  51. Drift

I just got a batch of 10 (2 blue, 2 red, 2 pink reg and 2 purple, 2 green cubix) and there's a definite pattern between colour and tightness of the fit. My blues are loosest and pinks by far the tightest.

  57. tomohiro
    Date: Wed, Apr 23 2008 23:58:36

that's maybe cause you're applying friction to the plastic making the plastic heat up a little. this will cause a bad odor while moving back and forth. if you do it too much in a super high friction.... you will be able to start a carbon monoxide... mellow.gif
but that's nearly impossible with just maybe shaving....

  59. K4S
    Date: Thu, Apr 24 2008 00:26:42

The smell is from the plastic when it's melting (usually from cutting...the friction causes it to melt). I would advise not breathing it in as it contains a cocktail of chemicals used to make the plastic.

  60. soulsonic

yeah i remember that from the time i used a regular knife instead of a hacksaw to cut the RSVP barrel. it smelled like...melting plastic-i really have no other description. It's probably because you are causing so much friction that the plastic is starting to melt. I agree with K4S; the moment the smell came up i quickly switched back to a hacksaw.

what's the difference between sunbursts and rsvps besides the barrel design? huh.gif

    RSVPs:
    -Thinner frontal barrel
    -Ball-point inktube
    -Longer barrel
    -Circular ball in cap
-Frontal plastic tip is thinner in radius

    Sunbursts (Metallic and regular):
    -Wider frontal barrel
    -Gel Ink inktube
    -Shorter barrel
    -Disk in cap
-Frontal plastic tip is larger in radius

These are about all the differences

i heard those weird franchsville pens can be a substitute for RSVP

Except the substitute is EXTREMELY rare. Nobody here has one. So...if you want a RSVP substitude use Sunbursts. Or trade.

Btw...does anybody have a Francheville pen?

so i went to my local rite aid and bought a 2-pack of Fine black RSVPs. when i opened them, both the caps were hard to put over the back end of the pens. it seems like the back cap is too big for the front cap. This ever happen to someone or know how to fix it? i was thinking of sanding the back caps down but i'm scared of over sanding it. besides that, they are perfectly good pens.

One is starting to go in better (still not like my other RSVPs), but the other one is still not going in. I have to use a LOT of force to get it in and taking it out is nearly impossible. When I get it on, the inside scratches and around the inside of the cap, right where the back cap starts to curve in, little parallel lines are forming. I'm not sure if these are cracks or scratches, though. That isn't normal, but I still have another 2-pack to open

i think this happens when the backcap of the rsvp is tightly screwed on.
On my sunburst mx when i screw it on gently the back cap is very unstable. But if yu get a grip section and tighten the back cap it will be really hard.
BTW if yu do this then your cap will have like whitish lines where the back cpa is cause the cap has been stretched out....sad.gif

nope, i took the back cap off and it is still hard getting it on the back cap. it goes on regular onto the barrel.

and thnx 4 the info on the stretching, i guess thats why those while lines are there

I actually like getting RSVPs like that. The cap fits snugly on the end of the cap and don't need to be pushed down to stay on.

If you don't like it, look for another cap/backcap combination.

@ POV: The bad thing is though if its too tight, you usually get the cap cloudy and it looks horrible >.<

I usually buy the box of 12 RSVP's. sometimes staples include a extra package so its like 24 RSVPs for $5-$7.
