Pen Spinning Relations / [topic][4.2.2.5] Podcast #5
and 6, 7, 8...

Hey guys, good job on podcast #4,
it was a huge success with 120 listeners.
We must now decide when to hold the next one. I have 3 suggestions:
1) Hold a podcast at the end of May to reveal the champion. This would be a pretty big podcast complete with an interview and stuff.
2) Hold a podcast in two months to give the results of the second round. With this, we will be able to know who goes to the semi-finals. Because the semi-finals follow a different format, it would be good to hold a podcast to explain what they are. Also hold a podcast for the final like in 1)
3) Hold a podcast every month to reveal the results of each round. Those podcasts would be smaller and mostly focus on revealing the results (shorter, no interview, only focus on WC08). We would invite guest "experts" to come and comment on each of the battles, and also have Crash revealing the results of each battle. However, the podcast for the final would be a big one.
What do you like better? I guess it depends on much effort you want to put, because obviously holding a podcast every month for 4 months is not easy.

Date: March 15
Host: Sfsr
Guests: Eriror, Fratleym, Le0n.
Time: 8PM? (20:00) Europe time. 2PM EST, 11AM PST. -
Date: Sun, Jan 20 2008 16:12:43
If it's just about discussing the WC08 and revealing results then there's not much preparations that need to be done really, so 1/month would work. Question is if people would want to listen to a podcast every month?
I think 2) would be best.
I'd also love to be host some more time, if not MASSIVE requests of other people wanting to host pop up all of a sudden. -
Date: Mon, Jan 21 2008 12:29:39
hmmm, will there be interviews with the whole team?
or just with the team leaders?
but yeah, in 2 months will be the best
1) = too far away
3) = too much. not necessary. -
Date: Mon, Jan 21 2008 14:08:45
uhh, it's gonna be difficult interview every team leader...
-
Date: Mon, Jan 21 2008 21:12:42
ok so...
who wants to host, need 2 ppl.
in addition, I need 3 pen spinning experts, to comment on the battles.
the "mini"podcast in two months is just for talking about WC08.
I will also get Crash in there. -

Grats on the double post
I'm in again as host if you want me as one. As for experts; Frat, Ceedgee, and someone from UPSB or GPC who isn't in the team? -
Date: Tue, Jan 22 2008 15:28:14
maybe eso or mats but I prefer a GPC person
-
Date: Tue, Jan 22 2008 22:49:18
ok Fratleym accepts! need 2 more
-
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 08:25:41
Ceedgee needs a date first, but he's interested.
I dunno who we could take from GPC... Le0n? Spin? Robert would be nice, but he never has time... -
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 11:05:39
hmmm
dunno who we could take from GPC.
all experts are in the EC team (except me, i'm not rly an expert yet )
perhaps Lunatik. i dont know whether you know him, he is not the best spinner in GPC, but he has experience. (he spins longer than the GPC exists)
but he's studying at the moment.
i'll ask him! -
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 18:08:39
it doesnt matter if they are on the world cup team or not.
date is in two months. -
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 18:21:35
I'd say Maniok or Lunatik, though rather Lunatik since Maniok is more into pens.
There aren't that many GPCers who have been around for more then two years afaik.
edit: Ceedgee can't be on the podcast if it's the 15th. -
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 18:27:20
shit it might be the 15 if there's no delay in the tournament, I'll ask Eriror too.
-
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 18:46:44
How 'bout the 16th? We might not have as many listeners then though, since it's a sunday. Or we might have more, since it's a sunday.
-
Date: Wed, Jan 23 2008 19:09:49
better saturday, i cant even be there sunday

All I know is that 1hr for a podcast is way too long. And another problem is that the interviewees tend to stutter too much so it's difficult listening to.

Is 1 hour really to long? The podcasts for the juggling forum are also roughly 1 hour too. The interviewees are not professionals nor trained, so I guess you can expect them not to do the interview brilliantly.
I saw my name somewhere... I can't participate in podcasts though (no mic). -

well the next one does not feature any interview so it's short.

Who will contact Lunatik? Who else can we ask since Ceedgee can't? FooK would be awesome but I'm very doubtfull to if we can get him to do this ;P

ok here's my plan,
if we have 2 hosts there's gonna be too many ppl and it's gonna be difficult to coordinate.
I want the host to lead the conversation by asking questions and "giving the right to speak" to the guests so that it is structured. The host will also need to give some of his opinions.
Right now I have fratleym confirmed, I want eriror also.
Sfsr can be the host.
Therefore we need one more person. Crash doesn't count.
Here's the structure of the show:
- Introduction of each guest
- Review of round 1:
- - "What's was your favourite battle?"
- - "Do you agree with the judges?"
- - "Which teams are most surprising/dominant/etc?"
- Review of round 2:
- - "Which battles will be tightly contested, etc."
- - "This is a team game. How did that affect the spinners in their individual match?"
- - "This tournament uses strategy. How well did the managers use strategy for their lineups?"
- Results are revealed.
- Explain format of semi-final and final.
- Few more questions about the semi-finals.
- End. -

Yiep feels he doesn't know enough about penspinning and the spinners in the WC anymore to do something like this.
How well can Crasher speak english? -
Date: Sun, Jan 27 2008 17:50:17
crasher is not very good in oral english, I talked to him on Skype once and it was hard for him to speak.
if you're the host, then I don't need someone else from Swespin, I want also Eriror in the show, so I want another person from GPC or PPP. -
Date: Sun, Jan 27 2008 18:05:52
Geh, I can't think of anyone. Lunatik isn't keeping track of this afaik. I'll ask Robert on msn next time I see him. Otherwise Le0n would do great.
-
Date: Mon, Jan 28 2008 18:22:39
Eriror accepts, need one from GPC.
-
Date: Mon, Jan 28 2008 20:59:07
Robert says no. Should I ask Spin/McDudelsaeck or just try to talk to Le0n directly instead? I'll ask Spin how good he is at speaking english. He's not on IRC right now though, so next time.
-
Date: Mon, Jan 28 2008 21:32:43
ya either would be good.
-
Date: Tue, Jan 29 2008 21:00:43
hmm. so it isnt a problem to have someone who is in one of the teams himself/herself???
i dont really think mcdudelsaeck wants to do that. he doesnt really like talking via internet (also bad micro)
le0n would be an idea. if he has time i really could imagine him doing this. -
Date: Fri, Feb 1 2008 17:02:12
kk, count me in, i will be there
Alright, we're all set. -
Date: Sat, Feb 2 2008 00:35:12
cool, now I gotta set the date.
it's supposed to be Saturday March 16th, but if there's any delay in the competition, it might be March 22nd. I'll need to ask Crash, and I'm pretty sure we'll have to wait after round 1 results are in to know how long it takes to get all the judge votes in. -
Date: Sat, Feb 2 2008 10:59:23
Saturday is the 15th though.
-
Date: Sat, Feb 2 2008 15:05:36
uh yera
march 15 or 22 -
Date: Sun, Feb 3 2008 15:21:34
ok,
so I talked to Fratleym, he says March 15 8PM Europe, 2PM EST, is fine.
Please tell le0n about this date/time or tell him to talk to me.
I will also talk to eriror.
the only problem is that Crash might not be here, but if he's not here, he will release the results before the podcast, sot hat we can discuss it. -
Date: Sun, Feb 3 2008 18:36:12
Blackmail will be on short?
-
Date: Sun, Feb 3 2008 19:23:11
he won my radio contest yesterday night,
he has the right to ask one question in the podcast, that's all. -
Date: Sat, Feb 23 2008 15:36:47
sfsr, we need to prepare the podcast,
any idea of topics?
BTW the goal of this podcast is to talk about things the listeners might not know. In other words, because the guests are all knowledgable spinners, they see things that the average spinner doesn't. I want them to analyze combos in details that the spinners listening might not have noticed. I want them to share opinions that are interesting and that the spinners never thought of. It should be a learning experience for the public.
Therefore don't ask questions that not interesting or that are too obvious for the public. It should be more in-depth. -
Date: Sat, Feb 23 2008 15:59:09
do i get a birthday shoutout

Date: Sat, Feb 23 2008 17:01:53

we may or may not have the videos of the second round by then,
