I hear people talking about in trades how they really want gold dr. grip tips, and that they are really rare. Does anyone have a picture or something, or any idea where they are found?

Sand it down, clean with alcohol, let it dry, and if you are well equipped, take your airbrush or golden spray can and paint it....

With some practice it is easy, and to colour a simple tip is a lot easier than spraying a car.

And, there are finishing liquids you can get for metallic surfaces, which range from 5 to 1.200 dollars for 5 ml, since these are very good, and very liquid, where you can dip in materials or spray em with thse, to get metallic surfaces....

search, try, and do not destroy....

@hoink: it seems to me like you know a lot about art materials. is there a special paint to color plastic? I tried acryl and the result was horrible...

Great idea, rae, as an old timer you should read through all posts, I mentioned it two posts above yours.

Patrick, I have an artists sdiploma, sure, I do know a lot about colous and artist amterials...

IF you wanna colour metal or plastic, use Acrylic colours.
Acrylic colours are what is used for cars and motorcyles, the manufacturer's paint and airbrush-work, too.
But ou need colours of a good quality and the right pre-work.

Take industrial sand paper between 600 to 2.000 sand-grains per cm, depending on the surface, and rub off all colour or glossy surface it has, until it feels sandy itself.
Then clean it with an alcohol that does not affect the material, and wash it clean completely, must be fat and dust-free.
Afterwards do a thin layer of white acrylic paint as a filler on the surface, the best, spray it, very thin, just to fill some gaps and that the next colour will look brighter (obsolete when using metallic colours? no, like said, even opaque colours do need a filler)
The white colour should be of the same consistence as milk.
Afterwards, let it dry completely, a day would be required on most materials.

Very thin layers of the colours you desire, the best would be spraying should cover the surface you want to colour.
Let every layer dry out completely.
For a finish to make the colour brighter and more durable, use clear "lack" on it, cottonlike or bright shining.
Let it dry again, especially this last layer for at least 24 to 48 hours, believe me, even if it feels dry earlier, it needs to harden out completely.

Best acrylic colours for painting in europe are "Schminke Airbrush Colours", which should be avaiable in Switzerland.
They surely are not cheap, but most single-pigmented, which means very very clear and birght colours.
The best for your surfaces. And one Flask of 30ml and 6 Euros will last for around 16 Square Metres, so, it is worth it.... some I already have for years and they are not emptied yet.

Hope it helped, if you need more information, please lemme know.

b4 i said he couldve painted it, but then i just remembered thats a stupid idea becuz the paint would leave a thick layer and eventually peel off. so i edited it and said he couldve spray painted it since it made better sense
