white Comssa creation

So i just figured out that coffee filters work very well for getting the cartoons off cartoon comssas. I'm not sure of the exact brand but i assume any will work. The ones i'm using are brown. Just rub the filter on the side of the cartoon comssa and the cartoons should start coming off(you have to rub hard)

lol great idea, im trying it now

Or use acetone with a paper towel. The cartoon print will jump right off!
But yeah, this seems pretty new. Never heard if that method before. -
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 02:23:38
I haven't heard of using a coffee filter either. I wouldn't think that a coffee filter would have enough texture to do anything to the barrel. What brand of filter did you use?
-
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 02:25:45
its these ones:
http://www.amazon.com/Melitta-Coffee-Filte...t/dp/B00006IUTN
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZoSAkDuWoR0
but i think any coffee filters would work -
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 03:19:32
i believe you but a vid would be cool just to see how long it takes and to watch the process.
-

An even easier method? Staedler rasoplast combi eraser. Use the pen erasing side and the cartoon design can disappear in under 2 minutes or less depending how fast you erase.
I suppose this can work with any other 'pen eraser', but I have yet to try any others. -
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 04:21:38
oh wow, it really works...
have you tried using other materials?
i actually haven't ever felt coffee filter before in my life so i have no idea what its texture is xD
is it similar to sandpaper, but just a lot less rough? -
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 05:05:07
umm the texture is like rough construction paper or maybe extremely fine sand paper.
oh wow i just tried printer paper which works too, just not aswell as the coffee filters.
uploading printer paper vid to youtube. -
Date: Fri, Jan 25 2008 22:32:28
this is one of those things i never thought a person would be able to discover
kinda like the guy that discovered cow milk. what was he looking for? -

Someone posted something about sugar before. Great stuff...
I used leftover altoids to get the yellow Sunburst design off for my clear Dr. GayT. -
Date: Sat, Jan 26 2008 04:07:03
sugar method was posted by me, but i didn't discover it, i just made a video tutorial. But the sugar scratches the barrel more...

Cool. Now I know what method is easier for making white com-ssas. I'll just stick with the printer paper method.
-

i sometimes use a knife in scratching it off..but it makes the texture very rough.

Whaat?! Why would you want to remove the wicked designs on the barrels of the cartoon signpens?
They look so nice with all the funny characters on them. -
Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 18:20:43
If only i new this was worthy enough to make a thread. I knew about the printer paper and coffee filter methods. I just though everyone did and didnt say a word. Oh well. Guess you get credit for method since you made the thread?
-
Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 20:23:58
Why would anyone "get credit" for it or want to "get credit" for it? People have been using all kinds of different methods for as long as they've been removing the print, these threads are just here to inform about these methods for those who don't know about them yet. Also, this thread is like 7 months old...
-
Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 22:38:23
What exactly is the printer paper method?
The video was removed. -
Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 22:40:55
The method is to take a sheet of printer paper and rub the comssa barrel with it, and it will take off the design... Also, wtf@cody, this thread was made before you even joined...

Using any kind of acetone messes with the texture making the body less slick.
I wouldn't recommend it, but its fast and effective. -
Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 22:56:20
Just to further clarify, you fold the paper up until you can't fold it anymore, then rub the comssa barrel.
-

I jus tried that method, and it looks like it also messes with the texture
Im jus clarifying, dont mean to flame -

i get mine off cuz, after use the cartoon wears out. and that looks messy imo -
Date: Fri, Aug 29 2008 03:13:50
This is a quick way to get the cartoon design off the barrel, but it doesn't have the same texture as a normal Comssa. It will be a white comssa, but with a different texture. Only way to keep the texture is to either spin, alot, or be able to put on a finish urself.

You're probably using too much force. When I first tried it, I messed up a cartoon comssa as well. -

Nice thread revival..
Lol i was abut to use the printing paper method when i stumbled upon this while folding the paper and IT MESSES UP THE BARREL?
Better not take the risk. I've only got 1 barrel. -
Date: Sat, Aug 30 2008 06:36:52
yea didnt even realize the date of this thread.
Kind of feel like a retard now..... -

OMG.. rubbing out the pictures with an eraser messes up the barrel!
And i just tried using the printing paper. Doesn't work either. Rubbed for 1 hour and no change.
Someone help me please? -

You got to apply pressure. Don't expect it to wipe off instantly, it'll take a couple of brushing and rubbing -

Rubbing with plastic polymer erasers doesn't screw the texture, dont use ink erasers. Erasers>paper. I'd say its worth it to spend $1 on a good eraser to erase off the print, and get a nice barrel texture. -

I think the thing is it needs to get hot to get wiped off. The friction from either folded paper or a sturdy eraser works so after rubbing it back and forth the print will come off. Folded paper works fine for me, and I don't feel any difference in texture that changes how it spins.

it works the same way that an eraser does dude....
i can upload the videos again too if you guys need them, but all you do is rub the paper on the barrel and apply a good amount of pressure while doing so... -

I use my thumb, up and down really fast =] takes a whole day but the texture is perfect and your hands are nice and warm

and yes an eraser does work but i have found it to be inefficient compared to this method. -

did you find out of the coffee filter worked? i couldnt see what he was using in the video. -

I tried boiling it today. Works like a charm. But do not touch it and let it cool first, learned this the hard way.

To make an all white comssa.
