Most people (I assume) make videos on their webcam because most videos are done by a computer. But I have a really crappy cam, and everything looks like a blur.
Anyone have any suggestions about what kind of cam I could use, any brands or tips or anything I could do, to solve this case of
" The Crappy Cam?"

I use the Flip video Camera. Its 100 bucks and it is made for puting videos up on the internet. It's real easy to use and takes good vids. http://www.theflip.com/products_try.shtml

imo, camcorder > webcam.
even this 6 or whatever year old camcorder that i use which was cheap even at that time is better than over 60% of most of the webcams that people use around here.
that was probably a huge runon but fuck grammar. -
Date: Sun, Jan 27 2008 01:01:32
yeah, the webcam I have has the same outcome, just alot of blur so you can't really tell wtf I'm doing. I've started using my digital camera, that has a movie recording function, instead, and its MUCH better. The camera is old, like 4 years, and only 3.2MP
But I'm getting a new camera soon Samsung NV10 10.1MP -

HOLY CRAP! You actually bought one of those!? Man if I knew that I would have asked you to bring it to the gathering!
You know you could buy one of the one time use camcorders and "hack" it up to be reused.

Well, i set it up to not auto focus, and i changed it so that it doesnt try to auto adjust the lighting, that makes it a little better but there are still a lot of motion trails. You cant even see the pen when i do thumbspins. it takes 2mpx vids. -

Thread is specifically for WEBCAMS, it isn't just say what kind of cam you have, it is more of a suggestion thread and when someone is looking at the price of webcams more than likely they aren't going to venture into buying an HDD Camcorder just for PS.
I have a Philips cam, it is the only one that goes to 90fps, if you're will to spend about $70 - $80 for a camera I would highly highly recommend this one. -

has anyone tried this dynex webcam?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1199495403693
or this ms lifecam?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1142296157528
i got this Rocketfish webcam after pondering
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1205537714405
but its $70
so i was wondering those 2 other webcams above are worth buying.
i wanna get a cheaper one but w/ good quality.
the two webcams above are $40 each
when i record a video with the rocketfish webcam, it looks fine but when i look at the video that came out of it,
it's worse quality?
i dont get this...
i put it on its highest fps and i gave light...
and i tried it on almost all resolutions ..whats wrong? -

i use logitech quick cam program
then i used rocketfish one called Live! Cam center
rocketfish one gives me lower quality vids as an outcome
and logitech one
it looks really good when im filming it
but it comes out choppy?
its not smooth.
very weird
hmm
i asked some kpsa people and they said theyre using
lifecam vx 1000...
LOL and they look good. hmm
edit:
the programs were bad. logitech quick cam thing gave me poor vids and so did rocketfish cam center.
i used Haduri and it came out fine.
i actually bought two other webcams, dynex and lifecam vx-5000 and vx5000 was good so im just going to return this
$70 rocketfish webcam...vx5000 was $30! the microsoft lifecam program gives me better vids than haduri.. -

I can film HD videos (1600x1200) with the quickcam program with nice FPS. Ok the video has only 15fps then but it looks awesome!
for me 1600x1200@15fps looks better than 640x480@30fps dont know why but the HD version is clearer even at lower fps. -

It's a pain to get 30fps because you have to hack some grayed auto exposure box so that you can turn it off.

Read this: http://www.free-track.net/english/hardware...m.php#Microsoft
I know its for different models but the drivers are about the same.
You have to get some button enabler when you go to the webcam's configuration (the place where you change brightness, contrast, gamma, etc)
You can usually access the webcam's configuration in a video recording program (e.g. virtualdub)
Put a bright light in front of the webcam and then disable the auto exposure. -

depends on the situation...i have a mac and i tried our the isight camera...and i do agree it sucks in low light...and in super bright light it doesnt work that great either but u just gotta experiment w/ the lighting angles and settings...i just taped a piece of white paper over a desk lamp i had and put it just behind the camera to it still illuminated my hand...and the camera does have a natural blur when doing tricks...so u can still see what tricks ur doing and it looks like ur doing them fast -

it was good. i think zaki used it too before he switched to quickcam9000.
i know nano shoots good fps vids
Yeah Shadow still uses and it and I used it until I got the QuickCam 9000, which I only got because I had a Fry's giftcard.
Otherwise, the Lifecam VX-5000 was the best $20 I ever spent the moment I turned off "Low-Light Compensation" in the settings.
And this is what spinning looks like on the nano:

MP is all BS man. it doesn't really matter how many MP you got on a camera, you just want a bigger sensor size. actually, if you have too many MP's, your picture becomes all screwed up.
FPS, it makes spinning look smoother. bad FPS is generally a turn-off
btw, the iPod nano can take better vids than the one scissors posted. more lighting = better fps (i think)
or at least it looks like it has more fps

what is the meaning of BS? I don't get it.
Anyone who has used Lifecam VX-5000 to take pen spinning video? I want to know who the effect looks like. ^^

Yeah the iPhone camera is pretty good.
But the standard 5MP Carl Zeiss Lens Camera that comes with almost every high end Nokia phone is pretty good, except there's kind of a bending effect of the pen.
Here's an example (640 x 480):
Also, here's what spinning looks like on the Sony Ericsson C905 (8.1 MP Camera, but the maximum video resolution is 320 x 240, but spinning actually looks better)
EDIT: Vinc, BS means "Bullshit" it's a bad word that means something is not true or it is a lie. Also, I have already sold my Lifecam, sorry.
But here is what spinning looks like on the Lifecam (This was recorded in a dark room so it is possible to have better quality)

Highly doubt they would be the same, also dont think apple actually make the cameras - they are probably some cheap oem components. -

Lifecam VX-5000. Only because using a Nano to film will get tiring after a while because you have to hold it. -

Uhhhh, such a hard question. I think the nano wouldn't work well with spinning at night depending on where you have your lamp(s) and if you unfortunately happen to have a lighting setup that won't work well with it, there isn't too much you can do to solve the problem.
However, if you get the Lifecam, there are different settings you can change and it's guaranteed that you'll have a 30 FPS frame rate as long as you turn off Low-Light Compensation.
And I think both are easy to edit and upload...

Anyone used the logitech c500 (or any of the c series) for recording psing? It has thirty fps and retails for fifty bucks so I figure it can't be all that bad, and its from logitech and they've yet to fail me. If you've ever used it, some feedback or a video with it (or, again, any in the c series) that would be great.

Adobe After Effects is ultra good for editing, but is hard to use.
Sony Vegas is pretty good for editing, and isn't too hard to use.
I recommend Vegas, but if you don't have the money, or just want an easy editior, use Movie Maker.
