Most people (I assume) make videos on their webcam because most videos are done by a computer. But I have a really crappy cam, and everything looks like a blur. sad.gif
Anyone have any suggestions about what kind of cam I could use, any brands or tips or anything I could do, to solve this case of
    " The Crappy Cam?"

I use the Flip video Camera. Its 100 bucks and it is made for puting videos up on the internet. It's real easy to use and takes good vids. http://www.theflip.com/products_try.shtml

    imo, camcorder > webcam.
even this 6 or whatever year old camcorder that i use which was cheap even at that time is better than over 60% of most of the webcams that people use around here.
that was probably a huge runon but fuck grammar.

yeah, the webcam I have has the same outcome, just alot of blur so you can't really tell wtf I'm doing. I've started using my digital camera, that has a movie recording function, instead, and its MUCH better. The camera is old, like 4 years, and only 3.2MP

    But I'm getting a new camera soon tongue.gif Samsung NV10 10.1MP happy.gif

HOLY CRAP! You actually bought one of those!? Man if I knew that I would have asked you to bring it to the gathering!
You know you could buy one of the one time use camcorders and "hack" it up to be reused.

Well, i set it up to not auto focus, and i changed it so that it doesnt try to auto adjust the lighting, that makes it a little better but there are still a lot of motion trails. You cant even see the pen when i do thumbspins. it takes 2mpx vids.

Thread is specifically for WEBCAMS, it isn't just say what kind of cam you have, it is more of a suggestion thread and when someone is looking at the price of webcams more than likely they aren't going to venture into buying an HDD Camcorder just for PS.

I have a Philips cam, it is the only one that goes to 90fps, if you're will to spend about $70 - $80 for a camera I would highly highly recommend this one.

    or this ms lifecam?
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1142296157528

i got this Rocketfish webcam after pondering
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1205537714405

    but its $70
so i was wondering those 2 other webcams above are worth buying.
i wanna get a cheaper one but w/ good quality.
the two webcams above are $40 each

when i record a video with the rocketfish webcam, it looks fine but when i look at the video that came out of it,
    it's worse quality?
    i dont get this...
i put it on its highest fps and i gave light...

i use logitech quick cam program
then i used rocketfish one called Live! Cam center
rocketfish one gives me lower quality vids as an outcome
    and logitech one
it looks really good when im filming it
    but it comes out choppy?
    its not smooth.
    very weird

    hmm
i asked some kpsa people and they said theyre using
    lifecam vx 1000...
LOL and they look good. hmm

    edit:
the programs were bad. logitech quick cam thing gave me poor vids and so did rocketfish cam center.
i used Haduri and it came out fine.
i actually bought two other webcams, dynex and lifecam vx-5000 and vx5000 was good so im just going to return this
$70 rocketfish webcam...vx5000 was $30! the microsoft lifecam program gives me better vids than haduri.. biggrin.gif

I can film HD videos (1600x1200) with the quickcam program with nice FPS. Ok the video has only 15fps then but it looks awesome!
for me 1600x1200@15fps looks better than 640x480@30fps dont know why but the HD version is clearer even at lower fps.

I know its for different models but the drivers are about the same.
You have to get some button enabler when you go to the webcam's configuration (the place where you change brightness, contrast, gamma, etc)
You can usually access the webcam's configuration in a video recording program (e.g. virtualdub)

Put a bright light in front of the webcam and then disable the auto exposure.

I had one but it broke. Default settings + enough light should provide you with enough quality of a good psing video.

Don't use default settings on the 9000. That sucks for spinning. What you should do is experiment. However adequate lighting is required.

Yeah Shadow still uses and it and I used it until I got the QuickCam 9000, which I only got because I had a Fry's giftcard.

MP is all BS man. it doesn't really matter how many MP you got on a camera, you just want a bigger sensor size. actually, if you have too many MP's, your picture becomes all screwed up.
FPS, it makes spinning look smoother. bad FPS is generally a turn-off

Yeah the iPhone camera is pretty good.
But the standard 5MP Carl Zeiss Lens Camera that comes with almost every high end Nokia phone is pretty good, except there's kind of a bending effect of the pen.
    Here's an example (640 x 480):

Also, here's what spinning looks like on the Sony Ericsson C905 (8.1 MP Camera, but the maximum video resolution is 320 x 240, but spinning actually looks better)

EDIT: Vinc, BS means "Bullshit" it's a bad word that means something is not true or it is a lie. Also, I have already sold my Lifecam, sorry.

Uhhhh, such a hard question. I think the nano wouldn't work well with spinning at night depending on where you have your lamp(s) and if you unfortunately happen to have a lighting setup that won't work well with it, there isn't too much you can do to solve the problem.

However, if you get the Lifecam, there are different settings you can change and it's guaranteed that you'll have a 30 FPS frame rate as long as you turn off Low-Light Compensation.

And I think both are easy to edit and upload...

    WHICH TO BUY?:

    Lifecam Cinema- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Li...p;skuId=9472947

    Lifecam HD5001- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Li...p;skuId=9797745

    Lifecam 5000- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Li...p;skuId=8921107

    Lifecam HD6000- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Microsoft+-+Li...p;skuId=9912835

    Logitech quickcam 9000- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Logitech+-+Web...p;skuId=8380593

Somewhat disregard price....but still factor it in just a little bit. I have 2 20$ gift cards to best buy that I'm trying to spend, thats why I'm going to get it from there.

get one of the vx series from logitech, even vx 1000 is good, dan uses it. it's basically what you need for ps

Then I gotta make amazon account, pay shipping? Idk never used it.

And I have 40$ in gift cards to best buy in case you didn't read. That makes a lot of the web cams I'm considering, to be >20$.

Best buy has decent selection also....

amazon doesn't need an account, and shipping + the webcam is still cheaper.

I did read, and I still recommended it.
save the giftcards for something else.

thanks I'll consider the vx 100 from logitech. But if you had to choose one of the options what would it be? the lifecam 5000? lifecam HD5001? lifecam 6000? lifecam cinema? logitech quickcam pro?

I'd say just go with whatever's cheapest, as long as it has good fps(30).
with PS, that's basically what you should be worrying about.

aright I'll count quickcam 9000 out. So now out of lifecam5000, lifecam 5001HD, and lifecam cinema, which is the best and easiest to recored with (totally disregard price out of the 3.) Does anyone use lifecam 5000 or lifecam 5001HD or lifecam6000

    not sure.
so far I've personally liked the vx series the most :/

    here's 2000 for $25
    http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-YFC-00001-...mp;sr=8-1-fkmr0

    5500 (same thing as 5000)
    http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-E4C-00001-...2315&sr=1-4

most of the vx series on amazon are relatively the same price (amazon doesn't sell 1000
