And you relation to penspinning before you started

I don't remember how I was before I started... I think the SweSpin promo, which was what made me start, was the first penspinning video I saw. I don't remember what pens I brought to school. What did I write with? Now I always carefully pick what pens to bring. It feels so unnatural not to give things like this any thought, yet that's what I probably did back then.
What did you think of penspinning before you started yourself? Do you remember if pens meant anything to you or if it was just some random device to write with? -

Well... first thing related to PS was like.. 5 years ago when I came up with a video about PS, can't remember exactly when, but about 4-6 years ago.
And I wasn't realy picky about them, just good enough to write without wearing out after 2 months. -

Haha, sfsr, I noticed this exact thing this morning!
I was looking for a pen to take to college and just had to go through every pen in the draw, taking a good look at them all before I decided finally on which to take. It must have taken at least 5 minutes, yet I'm sure a few years ago before I started spinning I would have just grabbed the first pen that worked. Now I don't even see ability to write well as even being the main aspect of a pen. Pen spinning has certainly changed my view of pens forever. -

Last time I don't really care what branding or what type of brands that I will be using.
Just buy some cheapo stuffs and use, as long as it can write, I am fine with it.
But now, I just spend my time on bookshop looking around for specific brand.
Before I started pen spinning, it seems really cool, till now, I find it way cooler. Cos I myself is a pen spinner =D -

I payed absolutely zero attention to writing tools. Now...I pay exactly as much. I have my MX to spin with, I don't care about everything else.
I guess the biggest difference is that now I try to spin every pen I come across to see how good it is, and if it has potential to be a good beginners pen. -

I was picky before of what pens I brought to school, and I still am now(well just that I only bring mods to school)

i DIDNT bring pens to school lol....pencils used to be ftw, but i cant even find pencils in my backpack anymore
-

I always used pencils for writing in school before PS. When I started using mods, I tried to write in pen in class, but I suck at wrting notes in pen, so I went back to pencils for note-taking. Before PS, I didn't care about pens at all, I would just pick up whatever was around me at the time.

I really wouldnt care what I brought to school, as long as it could erase and write.
Now I specifically choose the pens I bring to school .
Weird. -

i almost never brought anything to write with to school
i would have to borrow pens and pencils from people -

This sounds exactly like me. -

mhmm...i tended to choose gel pens cause they wrote so smoothly
and then i got a bit pickier and wanted ones with grips
and then a couple years ago i just changed to normal ballpoint pens
at thsi point i learned the ta, without knowing that it was part of penspinning
and then finally, this year, me and xero saw cleptomatic doing a sonic and so he searched penspinning tricks on google or something...and we came upon pentrix.com and that's where we started pen spinning this year -

I've always been very aware of what pens/pencils I went to school with. I am very meticulous in how I take notes. Such as I use pencil for only physics and math, everything else I use a nice gel pen (usually Unibal). I still don't bring any pens to school to spin, I just spin with what I have in my hand, usually the pen is so crappy and unbalanced that I can only manage to do rising fans, ta, sometimes ta rev depending on if the pen/cil's grip allows it, and some other things but not nearly as much as I can do with one of my modded pens.

Before I started pen spinning, I just brought any cheap pens I could find from my house that I needed (red pen for underlining stuff, blue for writing, etc).
And now, it's still pretty much the same, pen mods are just in case I run out of ink or forget my normal pens.
Annnd my house is full of random pens so I don't go to bookstores looking for specific brands of pens. Good brands = Too expensive, makes you wonder if it's really worth it or not after buying one or two. -

Man I feel soo weird, I've always been picky with pens.
I've always carry the same Pilot precise V5 Pen everyday, I've always hated ball point pens. I refuse to use them, some one gives me a ballpoint to sign with, I pull out my V5.
And cheap pens! Dont get me started, I've always hated cheap pens they feel soooo cheap! I really hate Bic clickers, When I get them I just leave then in a mug in the kitchen.
Only thing thats changed for me since I've started spinning is that I only write with Pilot Precise V7s.
I take pride in my stationary! -
Date: Sat, Feb 2 2008 06:40:24
gel kinda annoys me sometimes just cause you're writingn and then the ink stops for a second and then writes again, and then i have to go back and re trace where i had wrote
i dont' have that problem as much when i write with ballpoints
but hmm...i think i'm slowly switchign back to using gel cause i'm using my dr. grip to write nowadays -

Haha, i'm pretty much the same with you. Don't care about brands and models, but i will look for nice-to-hold and not very ugly pens and i care for my pens. I was a little more picky with mechanical pencil because i thought that i'm having it for long time(if it doesn't lost). Now i less need pencil but i still have a good mechanical pencil.
Now i pick/buy pens that have potential to use for modding. i put all the pens and stationery that i probably need in my pen case and bring my pen case to college. I'll put atleast 1 mod and the most 2 mods in my pen case. So, my pen case is the most precious thing i bring to school now. -

Before I started PSing , I never cared about what pens should I use,for me , all of them are the same.
-

When I try to think about it.... I never cared which pen I'm writing with. now I check every pen I want to buy if it's comfortable for spinning P:

Before I started pen spinning... I had a pen obsession.
Always took them apart, figured out how they worked... even modded to some extent...
Used to do fingerpasses without knowing it was pen spinning. -
Date: Mon, Feb 4 2008 01:24:27
i never used pens as writing utensils before i started penspinning. Why? no eraser = me screwed. Before i actually started spinning, i thought it was cool and that i should start it
-
Date: Mon, Feb 4 2008 03:23:27
I have thought about this a lot. I can now tell what certain other people use to write with in school, but before I started, I hardly remember what I used. I had never even heard of a Pentel RSVP. I remember for a few years I used a papermate pencil that I'm sure most of you have seen. It had the twist eraser at the back, and that's all I ever used. After I started High School I used that and any random pen for the classes that required pens. Now I hardly ever use pencils, actually the only time I ever do is for standardized tests
-
Date: Mon, Feb 4 2008 03:38:39
I really didn't care what pen I used......Actually, I didn't know pens had names like "R.S.V.P" I really didn't care what it was as long as it would write.....
Now I always use pens, but it's always a drag to switch back to a pencil in classes like Math and Physics...
(I really need to make a MP mod.... ) -

Before PS, I didn't think much of PS because I didn't see anybody around me do it, except for one guy and girl, but that was more than 10 years ago. As for pens, I was somewhat particular of them. I liked writing with Zebras F-301 and I pretended that they were weapons and would taken them apart and reassemble them in record time. I also liked gel ink pens, but I felt that since they were expensive, they were like a luxury. Not to mention they bled through the paper a lot. I never did like those heavy ink pens like Pilot Precise V5 cause they REALLY bleed through. As for RSVPs, since they had grips, I thought they were expensive, but I was extremely frugal back then. I did like mechanical pencils too, and used those Pentel mechanical pencils quite a bit. I would save leftover eraser nubs and never did anything useful with them.
But now that I am out of school, I don't really write anymore. I just use a Bic or a Jimnie Gel to write notes on my To-Do list, or when I'm in meetings, I would use this Pilot Easy Retractable. Whatever pens they have at the office, basically. I also have a Pentel Energel, but like I said, I don't really like writing in gel ink because it bleeds through the paper and I like writing on both sides. As for PSing, I do it everyday. Can't go through a day without spinning at least once or practicing some trick to make sure I still can do it consistently. -

i would always lose it, so it didn't matter much which pen i will bring. but now i freak out if i lose pen (modded pen ). i used to collect them before, so i have bunch of pen to mod now.
-
Date: Thu, Feb 7 2008 06:57:12
Good for you,Minche.
I'm currently lack of pen to be used in modding now,and I'm freakin' broke !
I need more money!
I never appreciated my pens before I started PSing, never thought that its tip or grip might be useful.
I threw away my HGG last time.
Dang,I feel like crying. -
Date: Thu, Feb 7 2008 07:09:47
I appreciate pens more now, although I waste heaps of pens for their grips or tips...so I feel my attitude towards pens is more one of anger now?
Hahaha I dont know....I guess if destroying one gay pen helps in making an uber pen it doesn't matter. -
Date: Thu, Feb 7 2008 08:28:29
Before I started pen spinning, I liked using pens and I chose them wisely when using them because some are very good to handle, while others do not have good grip. I am using pens from Google.com at the moment because comfortable when holding and the colour is very good.
So, I already liked using pens. Giving pens more choice such as pen spinning makes more fun -
Date: Fri, Feb 8 2008 23:11:27
Well, I all ways used a Dr. Grip or a Parker Jotter. So I kept a few of them around, I liked using pretty cheap pens that are usually sold seperatly not just a pack of Bics from the grocery store. But I never used anything expensive. I had seen pen spinning before and always thought it would be able to do that. I never took any initiative to learn until I looked it up. And now I am hooked I always have a pen with me just in case I get stuck in line somewhere.

before i started i thought every pen, was just another pen, but now, i look beyond the writing purpose...i see the grip, look for a metal tip, WOOT JACKPOT...haha:lol: jk, but...yeah^^ -

My knowledge towards pens significantly improved i guess? I was able to name some common pens like G2s, G1s.
But after i started pen spinning, i tend to look at my fren's pencil case and see wad nice pens/pencil they have that could be needed for modding and is rare. I then ask them where to buy it XD~
Im also able to name most of their pens/pencils in their pencil case. Unless its some random china pen that i've never seen before. o_o -

What?! Guests can post? I didn't know that...
Back to the topic...
I've paid more attention to how much a pen weighs (ie. Dr. Grips, Alpha Gel HD's) I've also been using Profiles more. And it's probably because I've realized a pen can be much more than a writing utensil. -

When I was in fourth grade, my class had this tendency to collect and show-off their gel pens. Everyone had a small box to hold their pens and it was always sit on our desks. Well, I had about 15 gel pens but 13 of them were stolen from me.
Since it was years ago, I didn't know what types of gel pens they were. They might have been HGGs, but i don't know. The onyl reference I can make to what type of gel pen they were are the last 2 pens that had not been stolen: a Signo DX and a Milky Rolly Gel thingamober (the pen with the HGG tip sub). So yeah, I feel pretty pissed losing 13 pens that could have been valuable. -
Date: Fri, Oct 10 2008 04:51:44
Wasn't really paying attention to much pens. Only used Pilot VR5 back then until I switched to Uni-Ball Jetstream last year.
And it was the Jetstream which I did my first sonic
Now, I'm able to name a few pens which I come across occasionally.
And sometimes I might even go hyper when I saw a rare pen which is used for modding...much like spotting a rare pokemanz -

Before I started spinning, I would always write in pencil, cause I hated making mistakes. And for about two years prior to spinning, I would always write in Pentel Twist-Erase 0.9 lead, just cause .9 lead kicks ass.
Before that I didn't really care what I wrote in terms of pencils.
Pens on the other hand. before I even knew about penspinning other than TA, my favorite pen was a pentel RSVP, haha imagine that.
But now.
I spend more time deciding what pens and pencils I'm going to take to school than I do what shirt I'm going to wear. And my pencil section in always the same. A pentel twist-erase 0.9, and a Dr. Grip Shaker -

before i spin pen, i wud always use whatever pen tt are given to me like pilot super grip or pilot G2....
now...after getting my comssa and got used to it....when a pen lands onto my hand, unless it is a spinning pen...i feel tt the pens are vry small..compare to comssa...i try to do jus TA and sonic wif normal pen cuz i got too used to the length of comssa...
and i now seldom use legs to take pens on the floor...dunno y....like treating them wif respects -

I always have and probably always will be obsessed with stationary
I loved taking them apart and putting them back together. I usually go for pens that feel comfortable and can right smoothly. Gel pens are nice but the are kinda expensive and bled through the paper a lot...
Does anyone else have a ridiculous amount of Hello Kitty/Monokuro Boo/blue bear kind of pen and pencils from Morning Glory and shops like that? -

Last time: Buy cheapest pen.
Now:Buy pens which i can use the grips and keep the rest of the bodies for writing. -

haha my view on pens before modding and pen spinning and such was like:
1. cheap
2. "kool" looking xD
3. never used pens O_o
4. used pencils =o
5. always the papermate clear point mech. pencil =o
6. always the pencils with the biggest eraser (those mech. pencils that have twist erasers)
7. if i ever got pens it was always the bics O_o -

I've always paid attention to which pens I bought and which ones I'd put in my pencase to show off at school, haha. Now they still have to look cute, colorful and bright! Haha, makes me so happy to see pretty pens<3
Aanyway, whenever I'm in a shop to buy pens, I do a few fundamentals to test it. Yeh, that's pretty much it, haven't changed a lot I guess -

Before i started spinning I'd carry two F-301's in school everyday. Loved the way they wrote. Same ones too, they were my favorites.
