Welcome to the Shaker Anyball Retractable Mechanical Pencil (SAR MP) tutorial!
Third tutorial released by me and The first tutorial on UPSBv3
As far as I know, this an original mod created by me. The point of this mod is to take the shaker mechanism from a Dr.grip shaker (which I like) and transpose it to another pen body to make it easier for spinning. I needed a mechanical pencil for school, but didn't like how the Dr.grip shaker spun so I made this mod.
Please understand that the shaker mechanism shifts the balance while you spin so this is not an ideal spinning mod but it spins better than a dr.grip shaker and still has the shaker mechanism which is exactly what I sought out to do.
This mod is not easy but not horribly difficult. If this is your first time modding, I recommend you try something easier than this mod. I assume you have moderately skill in modding and will be able to figure out any gaps I left. I also assume no responsibility if you are an idiot and hurt yourself trying to make this mod. Remember, you can't pen spin without fingers.
Credit goes out to Pholord for coming up with the Anyball Retractable mechanism used in this mod.
Some Stats:
-19cm length
-When shaker piece is on one side the COG is 1cm off the COP
-When shaker piece is on the other side of the pen the COG is 0.5cm off the COP
-It's better than my Mechanical Pencil rsvp MX because shaker mechanism > all.
-Kind of heavy...probably a little bit lighter than a dr.KT (not entirely sure though).
-Shaker mechanism throws off balance as you spin so its spinnability is hindered but it still pwns a real dr.grip shaker in terms of spinnability.
So let us begin...
1.
The items you need are:
-Dr.grip Shaker (The one that has a clip on the body and a larger metal tip...THIS IS IMPORTANT! Not the dr.grip shaker that has the keychain hole at the back)
-rsvp SUNBURST (You NEED a sunburst body...regular rsvp wont work, sorry)
-2x Sailor Gel grips
-1x rsvp grip
-Anyball/profile clicker mechanism.
-4x Small lead fishing weights

By cutting the sailor gel grip in half its much easier to put on but feel free to try and get a whole grip on if you don't want to cut it...and good luck.

Okay, you need to stuff a very small portion of tissue/paper into the anyball retractable mechanism. The reason for this is that once fully assembled when you shake the mod to get lead out you don't want free lead in the tube to be flying up into the anyball retractable mechanism.
The white circle is the piece of tissue I placed in there and compacted with an inktube. The black spec in the middle is where the lead will hit (thus blocking it from entering the anyball mechanism) as you shake the mod once complete.

This step is kind of tricky so take it slow. Also remember that the clicker mechanism was made for a pen so during assembly it may LOCK forward sometimes and you will need to click and push it back so it fits on the pencil tube. Once connected properly the amount of room needed to move to click out lead will not be enough to cause the mechanism to lock forward so no worries

Trouble Shooting Questions:
Q: Even when I push the metal tip in as much as I can the mechanical pencil tube can still move around a little
A: You probably need to file down the front tip of the sunburst body more, so the metal tip can move farther back
Q: Can I use the Dr.grip shaker without clip instead of the one with the clip?
A: NO, you cannot use that version, because the metal tip is smaller and unable to wedge the mechanical pencil tube properly
Q: Where can I find these small fishing weights
A: I found mine at walmart by a brand called 'essentials south bend' which were called "Round split shot sinkers"; Size B.
Q: Can I skip the fishing weights?
A: Yes you can but those 4 tiny lead fishing weights are quite significant...probably equivalent to a signo tip or even 1.5 signo tip in weight so without those fishing weights the mod will be significantly more unbalanced
Q: The anyball clicker rattles around when I spin this mod
A: You probably cut the rsvp inktube section too short...I believe you can wrap some tape around it on the inside to stop the rattling.
Q: I can't get the mechanical pencil tube part into the sunburst body
A: Either the tape to block the shaker piece is too wide or you didn't cut enough off the sunburst tip.
Q: This mod sucks.

No, my Dr.grip shaker lead doesn't come out when I spin, the trouble is ignoring the temptation to spin when the lead is already out

Nice job with the new version of the mechanical pencil mod and for using my retractable part for it. Its too bad theres no other tips that can be used so it will look more like an mx and so it could be lighter, but its still a great mechanical pencil mod.

The inside of a normal RSVP barrel is smaller than the sunburst barrels. -

The shaker mechanism is not required but if you dont use it then you're left with a regular mechanical pencil mod....and if i wanted a regular mech pencil mod i would just use my MP rsvp MX or one of my many mech. pencil mods
ps: I know i have yet to release a lot of my MP mods...dont have time right now due to school. Hopefully i'll get a couple out during christmas break.
pps: Im sure people have forgotten but here's a picture of the second version

How much do you cut off the tip of the sunburst body? -

Hmm, i never measured exactly how much but i cut off enough so that an american dr.grip tip could fit on completely...meaning that the sunburst would slide into the dr.grip tip all the way until it touched the inside of the metal tip.

Thanks, I finally made it! (with a few tweaks)
I used tape instead of an rsvp grip for the back clicker. xD
My insert is super thin in order to let the shaker mechanism to work. ^^ -

Do you think an RSVP Gel can be used? they use the same ink as sunbursts, so they have more open area inside. -

Quick question. I made this mod and it's nice. I can shake the mod and click the clicker, and the lead will come out. Buhh my problem is that when I try to write, the lead gets pushed back inside the mod. Any tips?

Yeaaa I have that problem too. But my lead is perfectly fine in length. When I write, it gets pushed back a bit and then if you write harder, the lead gets pushed back like its grinding the mechanism. I'm not sure if its the lead that is too thin or something but I'm pretty sure it's 0.5, just like the Dr. Grip. But for now, I just write lightly with it. xD
