Mechanical Pencil Dr. KT by Santa

    So, after a while of envy on k4s, I decided to actually try some of his mods, and I have to say it was pretty easy than I thought it was to make this mod. I only figured out how to make this mod with k4s's clear body kt, and u can try to make it with normal keityo body. I saw norice's mp mod, and i got the mp. mechanism from his idea. So lets get started with my first mod ..

    Stats:

    Weight-A bit heavier than dr. kt

    Length-Same as dr.kt

    Type- Double Sided Mechanical Pencil

    Cost [in USD] - $35
    What you need:

    1 fully modded clear body kt. (one of the tips has to be 0.5 mm)
    1 RSVP inktube
    1 Paper Mate Extend Multi
    Tape

    Lets make the mod now:

    1.) Take the mp stylus out of the extend multi


    2.)Drill a hole in the front dr. kt cap that has the 0.5 mm tip so the stylus can reach the tip.


    3.) Drill 2 Big holes in the rsvp back caps so that rsvp inktubes can move freely through both of them.


    4.)Inktube instructions.


    5.)What it looks like put together...


    6.)Put the newly made mp part/inktube inside the clear body part.


    7.)Put caps on, and make sure the 0.5 mm tip is on the front where the stylus is also.



    8.)Put lead 0.5 lead in

    9.) Now push the toothpick, and the lead comes out!!!


    10.)ALL DONE!!


    11.) (Optional) If you really want to make it so you dont have to take the cap off, you can make the toothpick longer, and then u can just push the cap to get the lead out =) (this takes away from the stableness of the mod though)


    Pros:
    If you have a clear body Kt, not many other materials are required.
    You can use in school because it's a pencil
    spins just like a KT

    Cons:
    Costs a ton if you don't already have a clear body KT
    You have to take off the cap to advance the lead
    Papermate Extend Multi is hard to find if you're not in the U.S.

    so you dont really push the cap of the kt and led comes out but you need to take off the cap and push the toothpick?

    thanks tek, just saw ur mp dr. kt and its pretty nice, nicer than mine, but i have better ways of making this just not willing to share it.. o yea and thats the pen u sold to me =)

    Great job on the mod! thumb.gif But it seems my kt tips are somewhat blunted out so i cant make this sad.gif

    Mine is certainly much different but this should help most of the people wanting to make their dr.KT a mech pencil. Taking a quick glance at your tutorial though, when you write with the lead doesnt the whole mechanism get pushed backwards?

    thats what i thought too =O i tried making this a while ago with the papermate x-tend multi but the mechanism wasnt very stable and got pushed back

    the toothpick is just long enough to touch the back cap so its not pushed back.

    and if its not that ur talking about,
    when you write, you aren't really pushing the stylus, but the dr.grip metal tip. when writing, the force i dont think it strong enough to make the mechanism go back.

    the stylus is the thing with the orange tip..., i think you shuold say the mechanical pencil mechanism

    for mine.
    what i did to prevent it from touching the back.
    i cut off the part of the dr grip where the tip screws on...i cleaned out the kietyo cap and i stuck it in there.
    that made the mp mech stay without going back. maybe that will help for urs cuz ive tried the toothpic touching the back and it doesn't work so well.

    Alright. I just made a MP Dr. KT where you just push the cap and lead comes out. I was wondering if there was a way to make the back cap where you push more stable. Mine is kind of loose and the cap turns. Help?
