Yeah I think it doesn't really matter what program you use... Just avoid the WMM look. The font on a blue background and stuff. You know what I mean?

Actually if you could avoid that look it doesn't really matter even if you use WMM. My own solo vid I use WMM to edit. But I tried my best to stay as far away as possible from the usual stuff, so it turned out pretty clean. smile.gif That could make your own way don't worry.

I think i was the first few in the Pen Spinning Community to use ULEAD video Studio pro for big video projects. IMHO its a very user-friendly software to use. I have however, switched to adobe premiere pro mainly because the video encoding for ulead just sucks big time

Are there any good free programs besides windows movie maker?

I can't figure out how to use Sony Vegas, it's confusing and hard. I want to use a editing program that's easier to work with. I want sEffect but it's all Japanese. It's the program Bonkura used in his solos.

I use Sony Vegas 6.0c right now and it's pretty good. However, I am concerned because I want to be able to import special effects from programs like Adobe After Effects. As far as I know, there's no clear-cut way to do this. I'm sure there are ways to emulate special effects from within Vegas, but they take time and effort. >_<

But for simple editing, Vegas is great. It's very easy to split and join videos and the built-in transitions and filters are great. But if you're looking to make a collab similar to FPSB+KPSA, I'd like to know how to do that too. bawling.gif

If you are truly interested in video editing and production, then get a Mac with Final Cut Pro.

After using Final Cut Pro... nothing else satisfies. It, in my opinion, is the best video editing software out there.

I´m looking for a program that will accept avi AND wmvs without a lot of fuss.
I´ve tried using WMM and Sony Vegas, and they both give me a lot of stress.
Does anyone know of another program with a vast array of format acceptance?
(It doesn´t matter if the program is free or not)

It just depends on the editor man. If the editor sucks, uses Avid Pro and makes everything all messy, the video is gonna be crap.

Just learn basic filming techniques and editing techniques. Programs contribute very little to what the final product becomes.

Sony Vegas 8.0 .. I got a keygen so i have the full version instead of paying $550 for it! Its very easy to use if your familiar to it - At school during IT we practiced editing video and sound using Sony software so im okay with it.

Or use Adobe Premier Pro, i use adobe photoshop which is pretty cool, but not premier pro so i cant tell you if its as good as Sony Vegas or not. Ulead is your other option which is highly regarded as a good video editing software.

    Have a look at http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

I sometimes use VirtualDubMod when I'd editing videos (not necessarily pen spinning videos), it's kinda complex for those who may not know alot of video technical terms about compression , divx etc. But it does the job for me.

and convert with any video converter.

has anyone tried out Pinnacle Studio? Pinnacle is part of Avid. I got mine for free with rebate some time ago and tried it out recently. Seems pretty good to me. Its much easier to use than premier and is still pretty powerful

I'm currently making a short film with the two. Just edit the raw footage then edit together with Vegas or vice-versa. I prefer the first option, gives me more control. IMO.

Adobe After Effects was one I heard was pretty cool, also Sony Vegas, mainly for the effects and quality. The only bad thing about Sony Vegas is that its rendering time is outrageously long, and the file size will come out pretty big, at least that's what happened the other times I rendered.

    OR

You can mix Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Sony Vegas and make one pretty cool video. Photoshop would mainly just be for the effects but you have to do frame-by-frame which is a killer.

But Windows Movie Maker is perfectly fine, just don't do the blue background with white text in the middle like everyone else does, you kind of need to be more creative with this program since everyone has free access to it and its really simple to use. laugh.gif
