Does anyone else here juggle? I started learning two weeks ago. I can only do three ball tricks so far, but I can do a cascade, reverse-cascade, half-shower (both directions), and I'm starting to learn Mills Mess.

I'd like to learn to one hand juggle, but dont think I have the right technique, you got a link?

I've not actually seen much stuff on the net in terms of tuts for juggling unless you want to buy a DVD. I'll make you some tuts for the stuff your talking about, mills mess and such, later today when I'm not extremely tired.

For balls in one hand UED, it's just a case of keeping them going in a tight circle with high throws (if you're doing more than two). Once you can run that for about 50 catches, you're generally quick enough to try stuff like the 3 ball cascade in one hand. It's basically just trial and error to get the throw accuracy if you're sticking to just one hand.

Mats, you don't have to bother making tutorials for me.

I started juggling almost 3 weeks ago, but so far I can only 3 ball cascade and 2 balls in one hand.

What is the reverse cascade like?

Here's a nice program mats told me about.

When you do a normal cascade, you do all inside throws, meaning you catch the ball to your right or left and bring it in towards your body before throwing it. In a reverse cascase, you catch on the inside and throw on the outside.

I can juggle with 4 balls but I don't do tricks with 4 balls, only with 3...

I've actually juggled before PSing. I can do a 3-ball, a cascade, double cascade, one hand, double one hand, four ball, several bump tricks, and recently I learned to juggle with basket balls and clubs and I now practice with opened umbrellas. Which isn't easy, but looks cool. I find its hard to really get into juggling though, not at all like pen spinning.

You can find some tutorials on the internet for juggling if you look around, but there are sure arnt as many as there are for pen spinning...

Wildcat Got a lot of video examples of both easy and harder patterns...(Warning: He doesnt do Burke's Barrage right smile.gif )

TWJC Got a huge collection of well-written tutorials, but without videos...

JugglingDB Lots of patterns from a pattern generator...

    Youtube Some step-by-step video tutorials...

But if you are getting serious about juggling i will strongly recommend to get The Encyclopaedia of Ball Juggling which got almost everything a juggler could wish for... Includes a lot of tutorials and drawn examples of the tricks...

yeah, I juggle. for money. haha its an almost min wage job attracting attention to a sign, but I am technically a professional juggler and that's what matters. I juggle in the reverse cascade by default (which is REALLY weird if you didn't know.. everyone else is like wtf), and I can juggle 5 balls with a couple tricks, and 3-4 balls with a bunch of tricks. I HAVE qualified 6 balls (my record is 18 catches), but I can't do that consistantly. I can only do 3 clubs and rings, but I do club passing and stuff. I go to a juggling club every saturday, which is cool. me and this other guy at the club are going to put an act together and try to do some shows. juggling ftw!

i've been juggling properly for about 4/5 weeks, i can only do 3 ball cascade, under arm on both sides, the thingy where you throw 2 up then 1 then 2, and behind the back throw. oh and fountain in both hands (not at the same time though)

You can learn cascade in maximally 1 hour, you have to learn proper movement with 2, then try it with 3 balls just throwing 3 times. The thing is to learn with 2 properly, then its just a matter of minutes to learn to throw&catch 3,4,5,6,7,8,∞
Believe, I've been learning alot of people, EVERYBODY can learn it in max an hour.

  17. Simån
    Date: Sun, Nov 18 2007 23:27:44

Well i have taught a lot of ppl to juggle myself too, and yes it is true, some people can learn 3 ball cascade in an hour or even less... But far from everyone, it is really just depending on how your eye-hand-coordination is to begin with, some people can almost do a 3 ball cascade without ever having tried to juggle, other people can barly throw a ball from one hand to the other...
btw, you should try out mill's mess, i think you are ready for that now... i am sure you will love it...

I can pretty much only do a 3 ball cascade, but I'm getting pretty good at that. And i can do one hand as well. It's kinda hard to come across tennis balls around this place. We have a ban on them in Australia because apparently there is something on them that can kill people.

  20. Simån
    Date: Wed, Nov 21 2007 15:34:59

Hmm... Actually, tennis balls really suck for juggling... They are too light, they bounce of your hands, and when you drop em they'll roll away... I think instead you should use either socks, rocks or fruits. They are all much better than tennis balls...

I'm more juggler than pen spinner. I've been juggling for more than 10 years, mainly balls, but also Diabolo and Unicycling (and a lot more stuff) I have some videos in my personal page and some others in my youtube account.

The routine in the video was used in a street performance I made a couple of years ago:

Yep I've seen it. But I am not really juggler, it takes too much time and after I found penspinning (that can be done in school during lesson) I juggle just for fun and don't really learn anything new.

Real jugglers dont give much for Chris Bliss, three balls and not even that advanced tricks... No, but Jason Garfield's version, that it something... Youtube

And for the 4 ball fountain, it is actually just two in one hand, in both hands and the same time... If you can do two in one hand with both left and right hand, you got the speed needed, then you just need the rythem to do a 4-ball fountain...

I've been juggling for like 6 years now. I don't use balls as often (I'm more of a clubs kinda guy laugh.gif)

I'm kinda good at getting the hang of all kinds of skill toys (ie. clubs, diablo, devil sticks, yo-yo, contact juggling), thats what got me into pen spinning int he first place....

My favorite style of juggling at the moment is "contact juggling". Hit up youtube to see what it is for yourself grin.gif

Thats what I wanted to do before I found penspinning and before I decided to wish MIDI piano rather than the orb for contact juggling

when learning cascade, before going between 2balls to 3balls, try snapping in the place of throws so you can incorporate the delay in the catching/throws

personally i like contact juggling much more. its more like penspinning in the fact that its more about the whole routine than learning tricks.
then again im really bad at making combos in penspinning so toss juggling might be better for me after all

I juggle... a lot. It was actually juggling that got me into penspinning. I can do dozens of tricks with three ball, and i can juggle 4 and do a couple of tricks, like gathering with them. I also juggle pins and rings, and i do lunastix (also called devils sticks, double sticks, ect.)

haha, i can juggle with 2 in one hand and do tricks like collums and stuff. then i can juggle wth three and do the cascade, reverse cascade, underarm throws, behind back throws and claw catches.
i also do sleight of hand tricks and card tricks and of course, PenSpinning.
i think those things and that i play electric guitar in a band and the only things keeping a nerdy sought of guy like me in all the top classes getting bashed up.
