It's been quite a while without any more input in the Moonwalk Sonic thread. Here's the vote whether we should keep the term: Moonwalk Sonic.

How would you write Moonwalk Psuedo Sonic and Inv Moonwalk Psuedo Sonic, if we decide to remove the name Moonwalk? Does a Moonwalk Sonic have as many rotations as a Sonic, or more?

Moonwalk Sonic can have only 1.0 rotation.

Since Pseudo Sonics are hybrids, this could be a good time to also get people to use hybrid notation for them and Moonwalk Pseudo Sonics.

    Moonwalk Pseudo Sonic would be:
    Sonic 0.5 12-23 ~ Sonic 0.5 23-12.

I think if you make Moonwalk Sonic = Sonic 12-23, that would be quite confusing. What with the spin direction and slot displacement and all. I think if you use a modified notation of Sonic Clip, it could avoid that confusion. Reason being that Sonic has a well established nuance that a Normal always goes up in slot and "up" in spin direction. Sonic Clip does not have that nuance.

But if y'all decide to keep it as Sonic 12-23 to preserve consistency, then that's fine too.

Why not just drop the "sonic" and call it "moonwalk"?

    Hrmmm.

That helps simplify the naming, but since it basically is a sonic that just moves in a different direction not having the name Sonic included wouldn't make much sense.

I've never been for naming that makes sense though, so I like just having Moonwalk as name :>

Anyone? I believe this issue is fairly important.

Moonwalk is more a modifier than a trick name. We could have moonwalk shadows and moonwalk palmspins, but we just use finger notations to describe the trick instead, so Sonic 12-23 makes the most sense. I agree that it could be confusing though. People could think it's a typo or something. But it's not used that often anyway.

I'm for making it Sonic 12-23. Though it will take a long time to get people's minds to wrap around that.

As for the Sonic Clip comment I made earlier, I was thinking about Psuedo-Sonic. Another poll for another time...

    2 - Keep
    5 - Discourage
    1 - Abstain

    9 - Total

How many people are actually active in NC? How many votes are required for keep or discourage for one to have come out on top?

So, how should the article for the deprecation of Moonwalk Sonic be explained for the wiki?

    Opening idea:

Working off the idea that Shadows Normal and Shadows Reverse can both go up and down the hand, the Naming Committee has decided to officially deprecate the use of the name "Moonwalk Sonic" as a separate trick from Sonic.
    Examples
    -----------------
Moonwalk Sonic Normal 12-23 = Sonic Normal 12-23
Moonwalk Sonic Reverse 23-12 = Sonic Reverse 23-12

Someone said to me a while ago that this had already been depreciated and not added to the wiki so I made a quick change to the Moonwalk Sonic page.

' Moonwalk Sonic and Sonic Normal

It has been noted since the Moonwalk Sonic was named that the trick can easily be described as a Sonic Normal that travels down the hand. For example, Sonic Normal 12-23 is actually the same as a Moonwalk Sonic 12-23. A Moonwalk Sonic Reverse is simply a Sonic Reverse which will travel up the hand. For example, Sonic Reverse 34-23 is the same as Moonwalk Sonic Reverse 34-23. Due to this, the name 'Moonwalk Sonic' is somewhat obsolete. '

I don't know if that is okay by you guys or if you want to modify it, or even completely replace it. However, I thought it got the idea across to the reader.

It has not yet been announced by the NC or agreed upon anywhere else on the message board, as far as I know.

I had it mentioned to me more than once in the shoutbox already and I believe I also saw it in a thread. Metioned officially, or not, people know.

Edit: It was in this thread: http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=31&st=60
