I have been wondering by knowing the mere fact that many of the best spinners that I do know started spinning about just 1-2 years ago. They are very awesome and amusing but how can they learn and perform amazing combos just within that period of time? While others who started spinning about 5years ago are not as good as the ones ive been addressing to? except for the time spent in practicing, does it have something to do with the way they learn tricks??
I posted this topic to ask for tips on the mind set of a spinner who is about to study a trick.
After learning a trick, do you need to learn the different variations of it first or to study and learn another trick? what should go first? -

For me I find it useful to practise a single trick
multiple times until
1. I master it.
2. I can get it 80-90% of the time.
The I proceed on to another trick in the same family.
After my "Learning" phase I wil practise the tricks
I know all ready.
You do not want to practise only the same types of tricks!
Try to maintain a good variety, or a reliance on one particular
trick family will occur.
Just remember to have fun!
Tricks will come with time and the
more you practise the faster they will come!
I hope this helps you! Good luck! -

I'll have to write a follow up to this article someday... -

I think I wrote an article on that... don't remember
The first step is theoretical: understand exactly what has to be done.
The second step is practice, a lot.
You'll spend 95% of your time in the second phase. -

For me, just know how the pens revolves around your fingers.
Make sure your starting and ending position is correct.
And practice!
Eso taught in this kind of manner I guess... -

Some spinners practice more while some spinners are simply just better. Those are the only reasons why some spinners are better than others.
Learning tricks is the easy part. The hard part is having the determination to learn the trick -- well -- no, actually the hard part is getting adept and smooth at the trick and being able to link it into combos well. Initially, I'd only learn one or two tricks at a time, but nowadays, I enjoy tackling a high number of advanced tricks, not just one or two tricks. It's all up to you really, there's no certain way to learn anything. We don't have a government that dictates what you learn and how you should learn it. -

There are some tricks that SHOULD be learned one after another though,
LIKE:
TA > Ext. TA > Fake Double
Charge > Twisted Sonic
Infinity > Double Infinity
Do tricks next that are based off of the ones you know now. -

There's a learning chart somewhere. On Pentrix I believe. It's not required though. I learned the bakfall before I learned the double thumbaround.
EDIT
Here it is:

We should not kid ourselves, it has something to do with talent... Just like in sports, where someone may use all his time practicing and never become a professional, while someone else might do, not because he trained more, but because he was the the one with more talent...
Sure you dont get anywhere without determination, practice and patients.. But some might get there faster with their talent... -
