I've made a few inserts for myself and I don't design half of the small sheet of paper. So I was just wondering why most of the inserts I see are fully designed if only half of the paper shows. Could anybody explain?

I dont understand, why do you care? and some of them for seamless

If you want the entire graphic to show then resize the insert and print it off. That's what i do unless the insert is seamless.

sometimes people just make it bigger then it needs to be because it makes the paper ticker when you roll it up for more weight and a stronger insert overall if you plan on taking it out and stuff.

are you asking why people design large inserts when only half of the insert is seen?
1. You can roll it up from either ends
2. You need more paper in the pen for a strong insert if you want to like take it out and put it back in etc. -

I think he is asking why you fill up the whole piece of paper with the graphics if only part of it is showing.

this is done so that the insert can add more pen weight and in some cases look better and seamless.
You don't have to do so, the point of designing inserts is to make them look original and awsome, If you think its good at a size then go for it. -

Sometimes it's easier to roll the insert up when it's longer
And that way if it's not the perfect size, it wouldn't bounce up and down in the barrel
