Regular Pen Discussion / Can you tell whether a pen is decent enough for spinning by just lookin at it?

ive just been rumbling through the misses pen cup and i found something like this:

    http://www.staedtler.co.uk/triplus_ball_gb...?ActiveID=23162

2 inches longer and slightly thicker than what u see, and is pretty heavy. the quirky about this one is that the body of the pen is not round but triangular. does that make spinnin more difficult? im learning to do the sonic and ive only just got the concept of it after being misled. (i thought my friend could do it, so i got him to teach me. but his version of the sonic 23 12 is just a 360 around the middle finger, masquerading as a sonic)

if you ask me triangular bodies are fine for around tricks and sonic normals etc. But when it comes to twisted sonic and it's variation it's really messed up. That's why i try to avoid triangle barrel pens.

otherwise it looks fine for spinning but i recommend you use an official one of the famous pen mods from the wiki. thumb.gif

i use the mod i made from staedtller triplus http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showt...amp;#entry37236
it's great, you just need to get used to texture, more than it's shape biggrin.gif
it's great to spin with even unmodded.

y did i get one star for this topic?

anyways thanks for the opinions, yeah, when u put the cap at the back its very front heavy.

Ive also had problems since it leaks alot so i emptied the inside, (i dunno what that part of the pen thats called)

    edit

I gave the thread 1-star because this pen has been brought up plenty of times before. It's fine to spin with if you like the triangular barrel and sticky texture. Otherwise, it's not.

Yea it would be a perfect pen for testing teachers on who is ok with pen spinning

    teach.gif
however if you get into really complicated tricks then you should compare the pen with other variety and see wich one works best for You.

I say stick with a clasic mod like an MX, Bictory, or a Commsa. Triangle bodies won't make huge differences on some tricks, but some will be very messed up. I suggest not to use that pen.

I wonder if there are tricks a round body messes up and a triangle body would work. There might be undiscovered tricks with triangular bodies.
