Yeah XCM is fun I but I can just do a few things, one handed cut, one handed fans.
It sucks for people with small hands. How large are your guys hands?
    '
And I know more magic that I do XCM. I used to know everything from Ninja 1 and half of ninja 2, and them some. Now I forgot it all <.<

Yay finally a tread of XCM/Flourishes!
I have been practising XCM/Flourishes and Magic in 1,5 years now I think.

Some flourishes I can do is:

    Mantis.

Buck Eye (soon) - By Jason Soll.

    Pilov Cut - By richard.

    Headache Cut - By Steve-o

    Helix Cut - By Richard.

    X-Sybil - By Harwin.

    Cluesless -

    Exodus - By Deflare.

Hot stones - By Bone Ho.

And many cuts and stuff by Kevin Ho.

    And some Sybil variations.

Well that was just a short part of what I acually can =)

I have also make some own cuts which I haven't lay out yet.

If your hands are 18cm (mine is), you should be fine.

I started out learning card manipulation convinced that my hands are too small for this art form. But it turned out otherwise, after a couple of practices I can do quite a few one handed cuts, while not mastering them, it was a good start.

    XCM = extreme card manipulation

It involved flourishes and various tricks with decks of playing cards. There's no single tutorial....you'd just have to search youtube for individual tricks. I do recommend "Xtreme Beginners" if you want to learn XCM. In the case of Ålan's video (which he removed?) he did some XCM and some magic tricks.

i've seen better ... not to mention that it was brought up to my (and others) attention that on their site they plan on putting up videos to moves that they did not create... move by Bone, Daren, De'vo, etc... and thats just not cool not only are they not experienced enough to teach those moves they dont have a right to be teaching moves they did not create.

I can do a lot of stuff...but that doesn't mean I can do it well. For the stuff I do have down, I do it well. I have been flourishing for 9 months and been doing magic for about a year and 6 months. Just started penspinning...can do a few tings....just trying to get the hang of it. Love doing it in school laugh.gif

As for the video about Hybrid Binary...the only thing I can think about that was cool was the name. They took all of the Virts style and to post tuts of not there moves is disgraceful. As for the Virts style they took all the ideas from there videos, (White background, Group meeting for flourish shots etc.) I just wish they had more style and they were a bit better. Not saying I am any good though.

  36. Chris
    Date: Tue, Oct 2 2007 19:25:58

yes they know there not good they kind of created the video to see how people would react to them creating a group, as for copying the virts by forming a group thats not copying all tehy did was form a group and the white background thing they did was beacause where we were filming was in like tunnel with graffiti everywhere and they didnt want to insult anyone as for the tuts i dont really know much about that so yeah

The first one, you can find in Jeff Mcbride's art of card manipulation.

The second one isn't XCM, but it's called hummer whirling card, and it can be found either in Ellusionist.com, or Penguin magic.

  42. 11Thrasher11
    Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 21:07:31

The first one I can tell you how to do. Put your hand palm down on the table. Put the card between 34 and 12 bending upwards. Put your hand palm up and curl your fingers in. Shake your hand around a few times and then straighten out your fingers and it looks the card disappeared but it is really just behind your hand. How he throws the card and makes another card appear is beyond me.

  43. ShoeMan
    Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 22:18:12

first one is not xcm either btw,, xcm is non- magical manipulation of playing cards.. and in both he's obviously using some sort of a gimmick you cant do that shit with just cards and your hands,, not specifically like he does anyway..

  44. DaThroat
    Date: Mon, Jan 7 2008 09:22:42

first one is not 'XCM' by strict definition..

it can be found in 'the Art of Card Manipulation' by Jeff McBride. tongue.gif

there are many volumes of it I think...

Sorry to be blunt but you just got owned by Ellusionist. They talk BS almost all the time. You probably think the cards are "noticeably thicker" and the $5 each is a great deal for such cool cards, but think about it. Even if the cards were 25% thicker, the deck would be too big to be reasonable. (13 cards thicker to be exact). I have their decks, and a side to side comparison shows they are EXACTLY the same width as your standard Bike. As for the price, everything they sell is very overpriced as it would cost at MOST 50 cents to print one deck. Remember the "special" UV500 finish? It's just a fancy name for that standard Bicycle finish and the "glow in the dark" second-edition Black Tiger? White always seems to "glow" under black-light. Relatively speaking as well, Brad Christian is a pretty bad magician. he also tries to copyright "his" tricks all the time.

This is assuming you bought it off their website.

I personally can only do various fans with a deck in terms of XCM, but I know quite a few magic tricks not limited to card tricks. I'm a member of exposed and SoMF, and despite the names, they are better than either E or Penguin Magic as they tell you better tricks along with the ones sold on E. I'm trying to get down Molecule 1, 2, and 3 and plan on eventually getting Jackson 5 down along with the crazy ones here in The Trilogy Trailer:

    thumb fan
    basic ribbon spread
    arm spread
    charlier cut
    knuckle cut
    thumb cut

but i think u have to do the flicking thingy twice but each time with different cards. then u edit the clips by cutting the movie at the exact time u want it and yeah u get the effect...

Actually, it's called the snap change. No camera edits require to do this trick. wink.gif

And another fundamental, although it might not be taught in 4 Jacks youtube, is the revolution cut, or the one-hand revolution. That's needed if you are gonna do some of Dan and Dave stuff.

Erdnase Classic change...That's where it's at. xD

I started with The System, but I can only do the False Sybil, Kyptonite, Genesis, All the molecules, and Madonna 1 Smoothly. xD

I got the Trilogy, and I can do most of the stuff there, except for the hugh scott Shuffle. xD The only flourishes that I can do smoothly though is the Jackson Five, Pandora, Molecule 4_NY, and Vertigo.

It takes me awhile to get any flourish smooth, but they're nowhere near the Bucks. xD

The clip you are about to see were made in October 2007. I apparently didn't have a Pandora at the time, so I gave you a Jackson Five. xD

And obviously, I'm not as good as the Bucks, but I only do flourishing for fun. My smoothness can obviously be improved, but I never do flourishing anymore anyways. xD

  79. ShoeMan

right handed people need to learn one handed cuts with a full deck in the LEFT hand and then if they want to make cut combos then with half a deck in the right hand, and there are a number of reason for doing it like that.
1- if you are right handed you should be used to holding the deck in your left hand, from dealing games and doing simple shuffles
2- in two handed moves, if the deck is in the left hand it means that the right hand is doing most of the action, which is your stronger hand
3- you should be learning one handed cuts in both hands (full deck in the left hand and half a eck in the right hand), so if you learn a cut in your left hand, it will take you about 10% of the practice time to also master it in the right hand b/c it's your stronger hand, saving you practice time.
4- you spring from right to left, you waterfall from right to left, you finish two handed sequences in the left hand, you do the pressure/thumb fan in the left hand, your routines/ combo won't flow well if you end everything in the left hand then transfer the deck to the right hand for your one handed cuts.

    that's my opinion atleast tongue.gif

100% plastic cards are terrible for fanning. Get some Tally-Hos, they're the "primo" cards. As Jerry Cestowski would say.

I got into pen spinning from XCM, I don't think I can list all the moves I know here.

I'm working on De'vo's Cut Combo, Crossed Cobras, Twin Fans, Veireck, and False Sybil. I'm also known as CardPiranha.
