General Discussion / Spoiling your hands?

I usually spin comssas, RSVP MX, maybe vortex and other fairly light pens. and then when i tried my friends grip aviaire, i was able to do my combos more easily and smoothly because of its weight and size. But then when i tried spinning my comssa again, it felt really light and i wasnt able to do harder tricks... so my questions is, if you started spinning really heavy pens really early, wouldnt that be spoiling your hand because you cant get back to spinning lighter pens? (since you could spin heavy pens more easily when your used to light pens)

The better you are skill-wise the easier you can re-adjust to light/heavy pens. However, If you spin something heavy and want to switch to something lighter, instead of switching to the lighter mod you should switch to something really really light first. For example, you spin a dr.KT but want to switch to an rsvp MX...before going to the MX go and spin a wooden pencil for about 15 minutes, then switch to your MX.

For me I started off with a MX, consider to be a light weight pen I guess. Then after time, I switch it to Zig mod, which is about the weight as Kt. It's kinda easy for me to switch around light and heavy pens. But sometimes I will go out of control.
So in order to be able to spin with all kind of pens, I switch weight of pen I use occasionally.

But what I heard of is, if you started off with a heavy pen, when you try to spin a light weight pen, it will just fly off lol

When i start to spin, i was spinning with very light pens. But after i learned fundamentals and few other easy tricks, i'm swithed to very heavy mods. And now, after ~1.5-2 years of spinning with monstrous pens i try to spin with pens like com-ssa or rsvp mx. It's very difficult for me to do some tricks and combos with this pens, i need to change my style a lot and relearn many things to adjust to light pens. But i enjoyed spinning with light mods a lot more than with heavy. So, i think it's better if u always spin with lighter mods than with heavyer. It's easyer to learn new tricks with this pens, but it's doesn't so impressive.

I feel that it's important to have intermediate pens.
For example, having a Dr. KT, a MSXA, and a MX.
Those three provide a heavy, intermediate, and lighter pen.

    intermediate?
what do you mean by intermediate do you mean something like.. medium weighted?
    because
there is no real intermediate pen..

I started with the MX and then moved onto MSXA which was a good choice then i moved onto Dr KT and i find that heavier the pen the easier to spin with. But you gotta include length because with the pencil mod which is lighter than the MX, i find it as good as the MSXA, if not better to spin with.

When i tried spinning with a comssa, yeah it flew off my hand because its too short and way to light!

I guess I'm just weird then, I can go directly from a KT to a pencil and I spin better with a pencil laugh.gif .

my parents hate me buying modded pens so im stuck with a bonkura kt and unmodded pens.
i can spin unsharpened pencils a bit... TA, TA rev, sonic rise, charge, twisted sonic, maybe some twisted sonic busts (poorly), shadows with some effort and extended TAs every now n then

its hard to adjust but not impossible if you go between them constantly like if i were at school

lol so overall its better if you keep practicing with light pens.

    Agree.
For me I spin my comssa for practising and getting a combo/trick right.
Then switch to my heavier custom mod and it was SO easy.
If your fingers get tried from spinning heavy mods like KTs. A switch to light mods like Comssa and Ballsign would be great.

i've always spun lighter mods, i started with a pencil..moved to an MX, then ComSSa, then Metallic Comssa, and then Dr. Kt. So i can transition between any pen weight easily

Hmmm i think there was already a topic on this.

Well my fave mod is a Dr KT. Before that it was a Metallic Comssa, before that an RSVP MX, before that a bictory. I can still spin decently with all of them, and i think dexterity can be increased faster if you used varied weighted pens

When you said "Vaired weighted pens" do you mean like switching form light to heavy and heavy to light back and forth?

I find it perfectly easy to switch between heavy and light mods.
