Have you practiced doing the sonic 34 23 and 23 12 without using the thumb pressure method?

yeah, i think u need to learn to do the sonic normal with the charge start.
might help in the second part of sonic rise

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

6 fingers would be cool...

but can you do charge 23?if you can just try to do the charge and try to do sonic to 12....if it works you're in the right way thumb.gif

1. I think you're referring to the thumb as 1, and the index as 2, and the middle as 3, etc
But the thumb is T, index is 1, middle is 2 etc

2. I don't know exactly how to solve it rather than having lots of finger flexibility. i faced the same issue

8. someone09
Date: Sun, Mar 30 2008 00:13:55

Move your middle finger back/up more when you do the sonic from 34-23 so it'll be harder for it to jump to the wrong slot, and try bending your index finger down a bit also.

I had the same problem. What I did was tape 1 and 2 together. That way, the pen would never go in the wrong slot. Once you get used to it take the tape off.

All these tricks take is practice man. I know when I was learning all the tricks I wanted to do the trick RIGHT THEN AND NOW! But this isn't realistic. Give yourself some time and it will eventually come to you.

Is having no pressure for both 3-4 and 2-3 normal? 'Cus i jus move my ring finger down then my middle finger.

14. someone09
Date: Thu, Apr 10 2008 01:31:54

It's better to do sonic without thumbflap pressure, if that's what you mean.

When i wa slearning Sonic Rise i would always end up doing Sonic 34-12....what i did was i practiced doing sonic 34-23 bykeeping my middle finger out more..see when u do a non pressure sonic normal..the pen touches the upper finger of teh slot it is traveling to..

i think so too.

i thought the basics are: TA,Charge,Infinity and sonic (but only 23-12)?

21. sketching

@Silvos: you should read the Fundamentals FAQ, Infinity is not a Fundamental, Fingerpass is.

22. NaDa

Sonic Rise is a combo not a trick which is made up of Sonic Normal 34-23 -> Sonic Normal 23-12. Both tricks in it are fundamentals.

23. Stay'n Alive
Date: Sun, Jul 20 2008 02:22:20

what you can do is to practice charge 34, sonic 34-23, than charge 23, all linked. After you get this completely smooth, follow the charge 23 with a sonic 23-12, than a charge 12.

I have been learning rise for 5 days in position palm-down. Now should I practice it in position? ...I'm newbie I don't know how to name this position. It's when you rotates your right hand to right. I don't now how to explain it xD

With your ahnd sideways? Palm sideways? =P

Well It shouldnt really matter, if youve learend it palm side down it shouldnt be that hard to do it sideways.

Are you having any trouble with gravity?, try using the thumb flap at the start to get more speed.

27. SunkaZlo
Date: Wed, Oct 22 2008 09:40:41

you are right, gravity isn't allow me to do this trick

you need to know sonic 34-23 to do demons sonic anyway.

I had that same problem i think. if you mean that it went from your Pinky and ring, right to your index and middle.
i practiced the 43 to 32 by crossing my 1 and 2. forcing the 2 to stay up and not go down.
hope that helps happy.gif

Is the sonic rise something people do when pen spinning like combos or just plain pen spinning freely? Because everytime I do it it looks pathetic and when I watch other people pen spin, i dont see them do the sonic rise or i cant because they're doing it too fast.

They're used in combos and I sometimes use them when I'm bored. (ie. repeating the trick over and over again with no other tricks)

But I doubt anyone's as crap as me... so they'll probably be doing Shadows all those other pro tricks. =="

Shadow isn't really a pro trick =/

Sonic Rise is what I understand to be a beginner's combo, it helps you understand how to be smooth and everything...but as you move on I guess you can still use sonic rise, just not as a main part of your mini combos.

1. You did not answer his question.

3. Sonic Harmonic = Sonic > Rev Sonic > Sonic > Rev Sonic > Repeat.

After the sonic 34-23, push ur middle finger down and do not use the thumb key.

40. NoobishPenspinner
Date: Tue, Mar 10 2009 04:43:31

u should have enough momentum to continue the sonic 23-12 from the sonic 34-23.
like said above, move ur middle finger down and continue on. Just try to do sonic 34-23 a lot until u get used to it, then u try to link them together.

how i learned: (even though demon sonic helped me), i did sonic 34-23>charge 23>sonic 23-12.

edit: if infinity isnt a fundamental, then how come this says it is? correct me if im wrong plz

41. Pandubear
Date: Fri, Mar 13 2009 00:02:45

People have different ideas of what a fundamental is?

But here at UPSB, only the charge, sonic, thumbaround, and fingerpass are considered fundamentals.

42. JSH
Date: Fri, Mar 13 2009 00:09:28

There are only 4 fundamentals.
Thumbaround, Charge, Sonic, and one combo, fingerpass.

The FAQ on fundamentals say infinity is not a fundamental

QUOTE (sketching @ Mar 5 2008, 09:13 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Infinity doesn't give you a base for learning other tricks, it just helps you to learn more Infinity combos. dry.gif You could say that Triple Infinity works all of your fingers, but Fingerpass already fills that role, Twisted Sonics also give more of a finger workout to all the fingers. Single Infinity isn't all that useful as a base for other stuff, unlike the other Fundamentals.

if you do Sonic 34-23 > Inverse Sonic 23-12, is it still called sonic rise? Or is there a different name?

I think sonic rise is only Sonic 34-23 -> Sonic 23-12
that probably is a combo without a specific name
combo's don't really have names except for a few special/well known ones

cuz if u pause, then it would break the combo (i think???)

sonic rise has to be fluent (from my point of view)

No, for a beginner, thats how to start. Do it with a pause, then decrease the pause, then decrease, and etc etc. till it just keeps going.

yeah thats how it goes, so dont worry if you have a pause for the first couple of days of your attempts. it'll help with demons and angels later down the line IMO
