    Read the rules: http://h1.ripway.com/Zombo/levelupv4.pdf

We're playing the original game (ignore the Variants section).

We need a LOT of players. At least 8, and there's no limit to the number.

Sign-up by posting "/in" here. This sign-up will last 1 week or until we have a respectable number of players. If I have less than 8 players, I won't start the game.

You need to be able to send PM's almost every day to play this game.

    Players:

    darkeh
    Mats
    WhiteFang
    minche
    Sleeve

    Spoiler:
    Level Up!

Level Up! is a game loosely based on Ready, Aim, Fire!, suitable for forum / chat
play. It is a game that combines tactics, cooperation, bluffing, anticipation and skills with simple rules.

Objective: The aim of the game is to be the last player remaining. To do so, you must
avoid elimination and eliminate others through the game’s main mechanism: levels.
Setup: The game is suitable for any number of players, although the greater the number
the more fun the game is. A decent amount of players would be 8-12. Each player starts
    at level 0.

Game: The game is played in rounds. Every round, all players must send a secret
message to the host (via PM, etc…).

In the message, the player must pick someone’s name (CAN be your own).
Once all messages are received, the host resolves all events that follow from the
    choices received.

During the game, the players are encouraged to discuss with each other through
any medium, whether it be private or public.

Events: Events are generated from the messages received during a single round. Events
are either circular chains or attacks.

Circular chains (also known as “rings” or “cycles”) occur when player(s) have picked
names of one another such that a cycle is formed. i.e.: Person A picks Person B who
picks C who picks A. The smallest cycle is of size 1, when one person picks him/herself.

Attacks occur when someone has picked someone else such that it does not form a cycle.
    i.e. Person A picks B picks C who picks D who picks himself. A, B, C are not in a cycle.
A is attacking B, who is attacking C, who is attacking D (who is in a self-cycle).

Circular chains: If a cycle is formed, everybody in the cycle level up! Each person's level
is raised to the highest level amongst direct neighbors, only if higher. All raises are
simultaneous and computed relative to the level of the players prior to the level up.

Furthermore, each person’s level in the cycle is increased by the size of the cycle (the
number of players in the cycle).

    i.e.: A, B, C, D are in the cycle A->B->C->D->A. A is level 0, B level 2, C level 3, D
    level 2. A is raised to level 2, B and D are raised to level 3 and then A, B, C, D level is
    increased by 4, which means A’s level is 6 and B, C, D’s level is 7.

Attacks: Attacks occur when a player picks another without forming a ring. Attacks can
eliminate players. Note that the attacker is the person who picked the name and the
defender is the person whose name was picked. Please note that the defender could be in
a cycle of his/her own. Several things can happen:

    - If they are the same level, the attack fails and nothing happens.
    - If they are NOT the same level, the player with the lowest level is eliminated
from the game. The eliminated player could be either the attacker or the defender.

Order of events: Although the order the messages are sent do not matter, the events
created from all the messages are resolved in a certain order.
    1. All circular chains are resolved.
    2. Then, all attacks are resolved.

It is therefore entirely possible that a player levels up in the same turn that s/he was
attacked by another person, making the defender a higher lever than the attacker, thus
    eliminating him/her.

End game: The game lasts an indefinite number of rounds, until only one person is finally
    remaining and declared the winner.

Tie breaker: If there are only two players remaining in the game, the winner is the player
    with the highest level.

If that is tied, the winner is the player with the highest kill count. The kill count is the
number of eliminations directly caused by the player (through attacking or defending).

If that is tied, the winner is the player with the highest number of kills in the last round. If
tied, we keep looking back at the rounds (from most recent to older) before that until
there is a clear winner. Otherwise, the game is declared a draw.

-what happens if WhiteFang > Zombo > Eriror. and Eriror doesn't pm you.

-you should start the game when there is odd number of people. (9,11,13 etc) that'll make sure that there is a winner at the end. eg. (at the end) WhiteFang lvl 9 vs Zombo lvl 9. Tiebreaker. if there was 8 players, its possible that we'll both have 3 kills each. and even if the eliminated players could vote who wins, we can both get 3 votes each. so, we should start with odd number of players.

-does the order of pm you get matter? say if WhiteFang lvl3 > Zombo lvl3 > Zombo lvl3 and Eriror lvl5 > Zombo lvl3 > Zombo lvl3. so Zombo becomes lvl 4. You recieve PM Eriror, Zombo, WhiteFang (in that order)

do i die. and then zombo gets killed by eriror?
    or
Zombo killed by Eriror first. and nothing happens to WhiteFang?

    Another eg.

if we are playing in the 'varient' thing. and we lvl up when we kill as well.
WhiteFang lvl3 > Zombo lvl3 > Zombo lvl3 and Eriror lvl5 > Zombo lvl3 > Zombo lvl3. so Zombo becomes lvl 4. You recieve PM Eriror, Zombo, WhiteFang (in that order)

do Zombo get kills WhiteFang (makes him lvl 5) and then nothing happens with Eriror.
    or
Eriror kills Zombo. (makes him lvl 6) and then nothing happens to WhiteFang.

sorry for using you as example, Eriror. tongue.gif

if someone doesnt pm, either they get eliminated or -1. Not sure yet

odd or even doesn't matter at all. it's possible someone else got a kill and then got eliminated, so you can't assume that the two players remaining have all the kills in the whole game.

did you read the section "Order"? circles are resolved first and simultaneously, then attacks are resolved simultaneously. so in this case, both whitefang and zombo die. order of pm sent doesnt matter at all

in the variant, level up due to kills are resolved after everything, so you won't get the level up before defending.

    i think -1 ios enough

however if your level becomes negative, you're eliminated.

    Date: Sun, Apr 27 2008 15:50:51

if WhiteFang lvl4 > Zombo lvl7. and zombo doesn't send pm. would that mean WhiteFang dies? can we make it so the person who doesn't send pm doesn't kill at all? so, WhiteFang doesn't die, and nothing would happen? because it could be used as a strategy to hide the fact that your backstabbing. and it'd be pretty fucky if you get eliminated because someone couldn't be fucked to send pm

  24. Zombo
    Date: Sun, Apr 27 2008 16:12:06

alright well in that case lets just make it eliminate, I don't want anybody to not send a PM on purpose.

  25. WhiteFang
    Date: Mon, Apr 28 2008 14:21:59

so then wat happens if WhiteFang > Zombo. Zombo doesn't send pm. what happens to WhiteFang? does that break the circuit?

  26. Zombo
    Date: Mon, Apr 28 2008 16:09:56

if you were suppose to be killed by zombo, then you dont die, if you were supposed to kill zombo, then you get your kill count.
