Date: Tue, Sep 11 2007 07:10:01
well even if its a new account..its useful if you have a daum account..
(IM NOT ENCOURGING ANYONE TO HACK IT) -
Date: Tue, Sep 11 2007 08:58:01
I tried to create a DAUM ID with help from SmAsH, but it turned out those IDs were only for korean people living in other countries D:
Anyways, it should be possible to create a KPSA account with this ID, no? I'll give it a shot.. -

I don't get why only Koreans could join the board. Wouldn't he want it to grow and let all PSers on it. Or did it have something to do with somebody that hacked the whole place?

It probably has something to do with that the Korean governments are more controlling then what people in the US and Europe are used to, they don't want people from other countries to be able to visit all the Korean sites. I'm not sure though.. Are all the Korean sites linked through DAUM?
I failed at making a KPSA account btw, someone with atleast some skill in the Korean language will have to do that xD And make it a public account, with like "UPSB" as username and "pen" as password ^^ -

it is not up to the person in charge of PDS to decide who can join. its just how korean websites are.. and to be honest..i reckon they got quite enough of pser on PDS. there's about 293520 registered member there. well..most of them probably are ghost. but anywayz..QUOTEIt probably has something to do with that the Korean governments are more controlling then what people in the US and Europe are used to, they don't want people from other countries to be able to visit all the Korean sites.
i doubt korean governments have a problem with people from different country visiting korean sites. not many non-korean people are interested in korean sites anywayz (i think) since korea is the only county that speaks korean..so if you go on korean sites you can't read it. honestly if it wasn't for PDS or KSPA..would you even think about going to korean sites? probably not..QUOTEAre all the Korean sites linked through DAUM?
nah.. they're not.. Daum is similar to sites like yahoo.com or msn.com. But the sites like PDS is made through Daum because daum allow people to make forums/mini-sites. idn wat they are called.
~Korean ID Number~
i'll give short explanation of what that is..
korea takes census seriously. when koreans are born, the new born babies are registered to the government. and the baby is given a ID number or special number or anything else you want to call it. an example of an the number is 930330-1025526. <-- (i made that up..don't try to use it, i won't work.)
the first group numbers (930330) is not secretive because it is the birth date. (YY/MM/DD) so 930330 would mean you were born on 1993 march 30. (thats my bday ^^) so first 6 number will be same as other people who were born on the same day.
But the last 7 numbers are unique. if the last group of numbers start with '1', it means that the person is male. and if it start with 2 the person is female. eg. 1025526 = male 2025526 = female. these numbers are secretive.
which means 1025526 is made up.
so.. in the government computers they have both Korean people's Full name and their ID no. this makes people unable to fake who they are. like..in upsb i could've changed my name to someone and just say i was that person..that's y zombo wanted the people to send him pm to confirm who they are.
i don't know about US or any other place, but in australia when people try to get a membership for something, they asked for driver's license to confirm who they are but Koreans would use their id.no. to confirm who they are. which is kind of a good thing cause it makes the imposters have a hard time. But it makes non-korean people have hard time trying to make a account in websites. But like i said if ur not korean ur probably not interested in korean site anywayz.
Thanks for Reading..
i know its hard to understand and i can't explain staff for shit. srry and i ended up writing pretty long explanation instead of short one. i hope this helps u understand little bit more about Korea Id.number. if not..tell me..so i could kill myself for wasting 20minutes of my life.

Yeah well, their IDs are kinda like the "personnummer" we have in sweden. They're not really secretive though, but you need them to register on some sites, dentists and doctors use them to find your report, schools use them to find your grades, etc. Mine is 901008-xxxx (the "901008" is my birthdate, YYMMDD), and it can basically give you all the information about who I am, where I study, when and where I was born, what my grades are, etc. Perhaps not a so good idea to post it on the internet thus (that's why i xxxx:ed the last 4 numbers :o) ^^
Anyway I'll ask again, would anyone be able to create a public account on KPSA with the DAUM ID Joshy so nicely supplied us with? -

Look at fratleym's post. It is suppose to show how to make your own account if you are not korean. When I clicked on the button in the little tutorial nothing happened but some of you guys might find the information useful and it might work for you. But since Joshy made this account I will use it until I can get the other to work. -
