today i found some hgg pens in my friends pencilcase..
he had 11 different colours of them..so i asked him if i could have them..so he gave me 8 of them.
but the grips for the hgg are really dirty..my light blue grips are like dark dark blue..
anyone know a good way of cleaning them??

    soup and water doesn't work..

I'm pretty sure there should be some way though.. Try hot water, washing up liquid, acetone, and perhaps cleaning gasoline?

I don't know about the heavy dirt, but if there is a grip that kinda turned yellow, just leave it for a day and it'll go away. That's what happened with my HGG grip.

I usually use entanol to clean both grips and barrels. And it works just fine. Although you need to wash it with water afterwards, else you'll have a weird feeling all over the pen.

careful with the ethanol, it dissolves plastic, so that explains the weird feeling all over the pen.

so if you do use ethanol or acetone or something like that, make sure you wash the grip off very well.

Well, we got this special kind of ethanol that's acutally made for removing stains, and it's nowhere like the dissolving acetone gives plastic.

Googled up an english name for it - methylated spirit

So acetone and other cleaning agents will get dirty grips completely clean?

  14. Platypusvictim
    Date: Fri, Sep 14 2007 21:57:12

Well, when I get ink stains on my barrel and grips, I use hand sanitizer, gets it off better then soap XP Not sure what exactly is on yours though, so I'm not sure if this will work, but as far as I know, there's no risk of damaging anything, so give it a try.

yea grips aren't expensive but to get the grip you have to buy a whole pen..

I don't know what you're dealing with so I can't say for sure, but sometimes just very lightly skimming a blow torch over the surface of the rubber will get rid of the dirt. Just be careful not to a. burn anything and b. not to melt the grip (big a** mess!)

dip it into rubbing alcohol for about 2 min. then it should be gone

grips aren't expensive but HGG grips are valuable, aren't they? I can't find any of them at my place. All the store owners said it was taken back and not selling anymore.

lol tried using torch just then.. accidently burnt it..
alcohol kinda works..and eraser kinda works too..
but i guess nothing can be done to make it look like real..

  23. WhiteFang
    Date: Sun, Sep 16 2007 08:54:20

oh..yea..sorry if you think ive ignored you..
    ive tried cleaning alcohol..
but didn't have a chance to use acetone since i have no idea wat the hell it is..

  24. K4S
    Date: Sun, Sep 16 2007 17:13:40

You should be able to find it in a hardware store...there's no other name for it. It's just acetone (CH3COCH3). If acetone doesnt work then i guess you could try CH2Cl2 but i doubt many people have access to that stuff tongue.gif

sorry for bringing up an old thread but does any1 know how i can clean some dr. grip grips. I've gotten some dust or something inside the grip and when i put it over a keito cap u can see it really quite clearly. I've tried washing them but i'm not sure on how to dry them so that might be the problem.

    Thanks in advanced.

Warm water and soap. Then let them sit and air dry, dont try to dry them with paper towel or tissue paper.

Grips are like tires...once they're worn off and they lost theier "grip"...you have to replace them.

Or you could try to use some fat removing substance though...but it will get yellow again... the yellow comes from teh fat one your hands smile.gif

You can simply scratch or rub the dirt off with your finger
    But that will take hours

Spirit Methyl worked like a charm for me.
i dipped the whole grip about 20 minutes, took it out, and rubbed with clean eraser.
the grip is as clean as new! happyy.gif

I soaked my dr grips it dettol soap + water. Mixed the soap and water in a jar and let the dr grip gips sit in there for about 30mins to an hour before i took them out.

Its alot cleaner than before and they have this really nice smell too.
