Presentation / Pen size in relation to hand size

Does it affect visual appeal?

Hi, I have noticed that people usually do not like oversized pens in relation to hand size, as it can be seen in the various comments in the Battlezone/Show of your combos thread. People tend to mark down a combo, because the pen used is too big for the hand. I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this, and what would be the ideal pen size in relation to hand size. Thanks. happy.gif

In relation to the hand size thing, I'm a firm believer in palm to middle finger measurement. I think its what looks so natural.

    I think, there aren't a relation with the hand-size and the pen-size.

When you choose a pen, is specially for your hand.

You choose a pen for :
    - the size
    - the weight
    - if it's balanced or not
    - and many other think...

If a guy with a little hand, and he spin with a long pen, it's his choice.

I view many personne who can spin with long or little pen.

In terms of aesthetics, which is what this thread must be about if it's going into presentation, I think that so long as the pen is not hugely long or very small it looks pretty good. I think for instance, that Erirornal looks best when he's spinning an MX, that seems the best size pen in relation to the size of his hand for him. Chautran looked pretty good spinning a pencil, I guess his hands are slightly smaller than Erirornal's.

I think it looks really ugly when people spin huge pens, and any long pen, for me, detracts from the aesthetics of the combo.

in my opinion the election of pen shouldnt be according to the hand length, but to the owner likes. if the spinner likes it physically, likes the weight and length, why shouldnt he use it if he has a small hand if the pen is long?? or viceversa... all in all, every pen mod is good as long as u r costumed to it, so just use a pen for a week or so and ull do it the best u can, regardless of the relation hand-pen length.

Well...i think that they get marked down because it's easier to spin when it's longer.... cool.gif
Some people think it's ugly too...but...

I guess this is what makes people mark down combos where the spinners spin pens too long for their hand size.

I think its more on weight. Rather than length.

Long pen + Small Hand = Slow speed, but smoother links?

Thats what I've experienced when trying to spin an MSXA.

I tend to spin middle length pens. Not as long as an extended bictory or a Compirat, but longger than a normal MX

I was in a battle and the only reason I got any votes was because people said his pen was too long :x

I think I must disagree a bit. I think since Eriror has quite long fingers, a mod like the msxa, fits him really good, while a MX looks quite short.
anyway, like I said- long or big hands, means longer pens, like KT, msxa, nx mmt, and other.
while smaller and shorter hands will look better with a shorter mod, like MX or comssa.
    IMO anyway.

i think your wrong it dosn't mater if your hands are small or big its mater which pen do you spin best with
like i have small hands, and i spin with a kt, and i really dont like to spin with an mx.

Well, thats because KTs generally have more momentum and weight as compared to a MX. IDK though, if spinners can make spinning with a long pen look good (e.g frat), I guess its ok. It all boils down to presentation, which IMO makes or breaks a combo.

What someone said before, the longer your fingers, the longer then pen. is

I read somewhere that a pen should extend from the tip of your middle finger all the way down to the bottom of your palm to your wrist. I think this is about the length pen that i like to spin with.

Metal comssa looks gigantic in my hand O____O
I agree that a combo looks better with a pen that is relatively close to the length from your wrist to your middle finger.

As long as the pen is close to your hand size it should look fine. I don't mind long pens..

But please do not get the idea that if you have small hands you NEED a small pen. Tuttut, someone once asked me that. Visa versa, big hands big pen. Nope. I ussually spin with whatever feels nice. In my case an MX.

I don't think that the size of the pen has any effect on how well it looks, as long as it isnt to huge or small, as long as the pen isnt thicker than there wrist and longer than there arm I think that, as long as the spinner is skilled you should be abe to tell how good the spinner is...
