Its a thumbaround, without the push by the finger. Its done through the use of hand motion, you shouldnt use any fingers to do a fingerless thumbaround.

Start with the back of the pen pinched between the thumb and the base of the index finger, about half-way between the tip and the COP. The thumb should be pointing upward. The index and middle fingers should be holding the pen at or near the COP. Move your index finger below the pen while keeping the back pinched. Your hand should now basically be in a "thumbs up" pose. You may have to extended the index finger forward a bit to keep the pen stable.

For the push, loosen your grip on the back of the pen and move your hand in a horizontal, circular motion. With your thumb pointing upward, it will move the back of the pen, pushing the pen around the thumb.

Catch the pen by pinching it between the thumb and index finger after one rotation.

People either do FL TA holding it with a fist in a "thumbs-up" position like sketching said, or resting below the thumb and on the side of the middle and index fingers, with the index finger pointing outwards. Watch some videos

much easier to do it, in my opinion, after coming out of another trick...like shadow or a normal thumbaround

all you gotta do is a single hard push forward with your hand. If it doesnt somehow go around the thumb with that, then you probably started in a wrong position.

FL TA is quite easy... How u spin the pen round ur thumb only depends on your hand movement... U hold ur pen deep down between the thumb and the index finger ( 12 ), then move ur hand forwards and downwards at the same time swiftly... The pen should go round the thumb and finally catch it at the same place where u hold ur pen before the hand movement.
Nothing really difficult about this except for mastering the hand movement...
