Just wonderin', how long did you guys take to really become PS pros like Alan or.....as good as bonkura being able to link combos very smoothly and well coordinated.

PS-ive been spinnin for a month and a half. bakfalls own

Usually takes a couple hard months of PS to become "Pro".

Most pro spinners have been spinning for quite a while.
I'm NO WHERE near pro. But hopefully in the future that will change.

You can bakfall at a month?

It varies from person to person, but I'd say about over a year before you start reaching pro-status.

Depends on what you define as pro. Pro as in smooth looking? Maybe around 6 months to get all the fundamentals nice and smooth. Difficulty-wise, maybe over a year?

I've been spinning like...6 months and I'm miles away from pro. Of course I have a life ya know...tongue.gif
    I still don't know bakfall either D=

Depends how much you practice, so it really depends on the person. For example, i chose to favor modding over spinning so even after a year i still suck T_T. However, some people after only 9 months are spinning amazingly well...not quite pro yet but clearly on their way to becoming one. Even with hard practice it still takes over a year in my opinion to become a pro spinner.

Yea ive been spinning for liek 6-7 months and am pretty good, but not close to "pro". It'll probably be a year or two till i reach "pro" status.

    pro?.....you mean....eriror/bonkura pro?......
i guess it depends on what you mean by pro....
anyways...at what level of mastery of pen spinning to become professional? huh.gif

    About a week......XD tongue.gif jk jk

Actually I don't know how good my spinning is compared to other people at my level (I must find an opponent XD).......All I know is that I'm not pro.

    LOL
Alright, pro as in.........perhaps Alan or mebbe bonkura and Eriror.
And yes, im doing bakfalls now, suck at it though :/
As for fundamental, im having some trouble getting sonic reverses and pass smoothly.
But I've come up with bout 5 combos of my own =D

Eriror's been spinning for about/almost 3 years I think. Bonkura was even more than that. I'm not sure about Alan...2-3 years? Though Sfsr, in my opinion, is more pro than Alan. Alan uses the same tricks/mini-combos -- not much variety -- just an amazing style.

    I answered his question, didn't I?

    Hmmmm.

Well I wouldn't exactly refer to it as being "pro" but I think that most people start to become raelly good around 5-6 months.

    Spoiler:
    Joke post.

Wouldn't it be cool if 'pro pen spinner' was similar to 'pro athlete?' So, Mr Eriror, would you sign this $10 mil contract....

That'd be some incentive to practice!

  19. Sfsr
    Date: Mon, May 19 2008 15:36:25

I was thinking just that. Wouldn't a "pro" be someone who is a professional, and thus earns money from penspinning? Not many who do that, maybe Kam a few dollars now and then. If you just think of pro as a certain level in penspinning, I consider some of my combos as pro, but most of the ones I've done recently not. How long it took me? Almost two years.

The people who develop really fast often get stuck after a while. Even though they might be awesomely good already after less than a year, they after that don't develop up to an even higher level.

FYI; Ã…lan has almost been spinning for 3 years now. Bonkura spun for 4 years?

I always think there is way to improve.

It's been over three years since I'm spinning and I always only see the negative points in my combos.. I know I'm decent but I still find some big shit in my combo. There not one at all that I can say I'm really proud so until that time, I'm not considering myself as a "pro".

and define a pro is really hard depends on the scale...

To me pros in penspinning are the ones that when you watch the combo you can say that he has just done that after the morning breakfast tongue.gif
I mean it looks really easy for him to do that.

I'm thinking about Eriror, PentaengE, cloud traveler, fingerpass, chucheon... well the gods...

Frat: you don't consider yourself as a pro!?! Your'e one of the best spinners out here and probably THE best.

Okay, after this all I want to say is that I make crazy efforts in PSing improvement, I real want to become a top-penspinner, so in 3-4 years I have good chances of beeing what you call a "pro"

Edit: I call myself "megalomaiac" sometimes...

Lol haha well I reckon pro is defined as someone who can make a video of themselves spinning.

Im no pro. I can only do like most fundamentals T_T. i hate when u cant do something. pisses me off. though u gotta b patient =='

3-4 YEARS?! WHOAAA. Remember my name cool.gif haha

*appears out of the inky mist*

the label on spinz says "spin like the pros"
so by that standard you only need to know the 7 tricks it comes with.

however by other standards you need to be smooth or good at combos.

I consider myself a novice at this so far

Hey aren't yall forgeting Kam? He is amazing and just as big as Bonkura? He created the MX, which is one of the most common mods ever. I think he should be a excellent example. As for me I'm WAY far from pro. I can do the tricks but linking is hard for me but I'm getting better.

He doesn't spin as well as them, though he made the MX and was very influential.

I've been penspinning (intensely!!!) for over a year now and many 3 month spinners are much much better spinners tan me, I think it just depends on how creative you are more than anything, I practice almsot every day but I don't think I will ever be at the level that many of the "pro" pen spinners are at, some people are jsut better than others or pen spinning comes harder ^^

it depends on how serious you take it, and perhaps a bit of talent.
but eventually everyone can become a pro, no doubt on that.
    i just need a few more years : )

I reckon if you put in about a thousand hours of practice, you will probably be a 'pro' spinner. Pen spinning is technically at a very low level right now though. In ten years time, you'll need to put in a lot more than that to be 'pro'.

A few years ago, you needed even less practice to be considered pro. =/ The time that is needed will rise constantly.

It took 8 months for me to be 'pro', or considered that way anyway.

...Which is great because it means pen spinners overall are becoming constantly more technically skilled.

Most of the pro JEB members that you see in the really good collabs or in the world cup have usually been spinning more than 2 years.
