UPSB v3
Pen Modifications / Spinning Markers
Noone else has this problem?
-
Date: Sun, May 18 2008 22:55:59
I asked on the shoutbox and i didn't get any replies
I'll try to make this brief:
Whenever I spin a marker of any type (felt, brush, etc), the cpa gets all wet
Does everyone else just like live with it?
I mean a lot of people have Com.SSas...do they just not take the cap off??...i mean the marker ink still leaks outside the cap sometimes
I'm planning on replacing the marker tip with HGG inktubes on all my com.SSas..and i know some people do it...but is that what everyone does?
Does everyone just live with the cap being all wet and messy?
Noone else ever seems to have this problem.
Halp? -

This happens to all my RSVP's. The grip inside gets all wet and then it slides to far up to cap.

i'm not talking about pens...i'm tlking about markers...and i never get that problem with Pens...are u using RSVP Gel Pens? -
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 00:44:48
the ink in my mj went into the cap sorta making the cap gross looking since its clear and it happened with my kt as well but you couldn't notice that without taking the cap off.

Just a regular black rsvp when the inktube is reversed -
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 00:50:06
Why not.... just remove the marker ink? ._. It makes it heavy and unbalanced, especially with comssas.
-
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 01:24:59
Yes! I have a Metal Rushon Comssa that does that. I have no clue on how to fix it. Mine leaks on both sides of the comssa cap.
-
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 02:04:28
ya...but i'm wondering what everyone else does....
like....i don't tihnk every takes out the insides of their comssa?
i mean the ink must leak out of your caps a little right? -
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 02:58:17
yeah my tombow gets in everywhere, but hasnt happened to my comssa

how long have you been spinning your com.ssa?
-
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 07:17:42
My last Comssa was spun regularly for about 6 months, no problems with leakying. The inside of the cap gets a bit marked up, but nothing to the degree where you see it on the outside. My 1.5 year old Tombow mod never leaked before I ended up ripping out the ink tube to see what it felt like to spin without it.
I've never had any pen leak (gel ink, marker, etc...). -
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 07:27:29
yea, ive never had a mod using a g2 inktube leak....ever
even though everyone warns me about it -

(good thing someone like sketching has posted here...reassures me about stuff )
well...i dont really mena leak to the outside outside..but like...the inside of my com.ssa was filled with marker ink...like the inside of it was kinda covered in black..but it didnt really leak out.. -
Date: Mon, May 19 2008 23:52:30
hmm....i never had a problem with this before....
does this problem occur when you drop it a lot? -

Yeah, that's what happens to mine -- I didn't know what you meant before. It doesn't really bother me that much, excpt it sometimes leaves ink on my fingers -

Yeah, the inside has a bit of marker on it, but not enough for a casual observer to notice anything about it. Plus, most of my cap is covered in grip. -

i dont really get leaky comssas like i dropped a g2 mod forgot the name but i spun it 1 day and it look like it exploded cause the ink went every where luckily it was out side

Do you ever take the cap off? -

Your HCMX never leaks? Every ink tube I've put in mine has leaked. -
Date: Tue, May 20 2008 14:30:59
Nope, my simplified HCMX hasn't had any problems at all.

that happens to me to, but answering you, xxdefinitionxx what you can do is write with the pen until the ink wears out...you won't have the same problem...xD -
Date: Tue, May 20 2008 22:48:14
Yea it only happens to my metal rushon with Comssa caps, but not to any of my comssas.

yeha i'm gonna do that with 12 computer signpen bodies...
*no*
umm..maybe i'll just try to never have the cap come off....i'll try....
anybody also have a way to take out the back plug without making marks from the pliers? -
Date: Wed, May 21 2008 03:40:12
Remove the felt tip and plug it up with epoxy?

You can always leave your marker capless for a day or so and the ink will eventually dry up
Pros:
No tools required
Easy to do
Cons:
Long wait (if you are impatient)
Marker might roll and mark something before the ink dries -

hmm do you do this or are you just assuming it might work?

I've left a Sign Pen uncapped before, the tip dries up nice and hard. If you are still worried, you can cover the tip with some other material and let it dry to form a mini cap just around the tip: epoxy, superglue, etc...

how long did you leave it out for? -

I forgot about it and found it a month later...no idea how long it took. I don't think that it would take too long. You could probably speed things up yourself though. I imagine that slowly taking a blowdryer could dry the tip enough to than allow epoxy, superglue or some other covering. Leave the pen uncovered for a day, check it, than decide if you want to try to speed up the process.
