Regular Pen Discussion / HGG Grip Substitute

I've found one.

So I was at my friend's house today, and on a whim, searched one of the junk drawers in his kitchen.

    Lo and behold:

It's a Foray Needlepoint pen. This one's black, with a 1.0 mm point.

    The grip:

It's dimpled like an HGG grip, but the dimples don't expand. If anything, it's more like a long RSVP grip with the bulges cut off. The interior diameter is smaller than that of an HGG.

Comparison to a real HGG grip:

As you can see, it's a tad shorter than an HGG grip. It's weighted similarly, though.

Substitute grip used in a Signo-tipped MX (with Signo-tipped, HGG-gripped MX for comparison)

Due to the grip's shortness, you need to place a couple of Anyball bands to cover the gap (an alternative is the bulges from an RSVP grip, like those used in an MX^2).

    Balance:

    All is well.

These pens are a knockoff Staples brand pen, so they should be pretty cheap. They may or may not come in other colors. The tips are plastic, unfortunately, but the grip is nice.

Sorry for the low-quality pics, I can get a few better quality ones if people want.

    Thanks for reading!

Nice find! So you say we can get these at Staples?

To me, that pen looks like a F-301 knockoff with a grip.

Foray is Staples' brand of pens, so I'd assume so.

improved f-301 groupwave.gif I like the pen just for writing at work because its durable.

Edit:Wait....if the tip is plastic than is the barrel? It would have the look but loose the feel.
