Date: Sat, May 31 2008 03:40:30
Yeah I do a little Parkour every once in a while, kinda not fun here cause no one else knows about it.
Real useful when I have to break into my own place. -
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 04:05:45
Yea I do parkour a little, but not much cause no one to do it with.
-
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 04:06:55
is the urban ninja video parkour or something?
-
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 04:09:16QUOTE (tomohiro @ May 30 2008, 08:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>is the urban ninja video parkour or something?
Yeah its free running.
But its mostly tricking half way. -
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 04:16:22
YEa, but tricking helps with parkour cuz it has some of the same concepts.
-
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 04:34:27
theres already a topic on this but i do parkour somewhat, but mostly freerunning cause the flips are the fun part.
-
Date: Sat, May 31 2008 06:35:02
I like to climb on the buildings . I can't trick for shit though, been out of shape for a while, actually now that I think about it I haven't done much for a while .
-

Parkour is NOT equal to freerunning
The difference lies in its concepts.
Parkour focuses on getting from point A to point B,
Whereas...
Freerunning focuses on Aesthetics and Appeal.
Therefore tricking or flips is NOT part of Parkour.
Urban Freeflow sux >< -

Wow finally some who realizes that besides me. Sometimes when i`m out training people say to me,"are you doing Freerunning ?" i tell them "No i`m doing Parkour". They usually respond "Parkour..Freerunning same thing"
And yes Urban Freeflow does suck -

Wait, are you serious? I thought everyone knew the difference. I mean if you check out anything parkour related it'll state the difference. -
Date: Mon, Jun 2 2008 18:29:09
You wouldnt believe the ignorance some people show here in Singapore then.
Because, if you just do a simple lazy vault over a rail they'll be like "OMFGZZZ IS THAT FREERUNNIN!!!???! OMFG DO DOSE FLIPPIES AND FLIES!!! OMFGZORR DO ONE BACK FLIP!!! NOAW!"
And im like...wtf dude? -
Date: Mon, Jun 2 2008 19:12:46
Yea some people are pretty retarded, and have no idea about the sport. *sigh* Kinda like PS in a way .
-
Date: Mon, Jun 2 2008 20:33:56
I like climbing up on buildings and stuff, I probably would get into this stuff if I had some one to do it with.
-
Date: Mon, Jun 2 2008 20:37:46
Parkour and Freerunning used to be the same damn thing
I did parkour for a year or two, found out about in 2004 when someone on UPSB made a post about that "Spider-man" video -
Date: Tue, Jun 3 2008 01:08:34
I do parkour from time to time. I use it to keep fit while at college because i hate the dicks who hang around at the gym haha.

Parkour isn't about climbing buildings and stuff, thats the most misconceptive thing people have about Parkour. Its the art of moving from A to B in the most fluid, efficient way. Climbing buildings count only when It is the fastest route. Most runs are on the ground, over low obstacles.QUOTE (Retro-spectre @ Jun 3 2008, 04:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Parkour and Freerunning used to be the same damn thing

Parkour just used to be Parkour until Sabestian Foucan branched out and created Freerunning because David Belle did not intend Parkour to be about showing off and doing flips. All this Yamakasi stuff is influencing the public to think that Parkour is used for like illegal crap. That was why David Belle did not want to star in the movie/s.QUOTE (Outlander @ Jun 3 2008, 09:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I do parkour from time to time. Hmm, I personally don't but if you youtube or google Le Parkour (add the Le to make sure you are getting parkour because you can obviously see that they are confused a lot) there should be a video somewhere. -

I remember doing some Parkour on Tony Hawk's American Wasteland© but it was more free running coz you mainly did flips up walls... Anyone know where I should start? I tried it once but didn't really know what I was doing...
-
Date: Fri, Oct 3 2008 08:51:12
I'm doing parkour, too. It's much more strenght training that parkour moves training - I'm just 13 years girl, so I think, it's better to train my strenght, coordination, balance, etc., and a bit - parkour moves (Various roll techniques, wallrun, prescisions, cat leaps, some vaults).

I wanted to do Parkour for some time, but I know no one who does and therefore do not.

Looks awesome though. -

ive been doing parkour for about a year now, and im quite worried that more people might hurt themselves doing parkour from lack of experience thinking its just like the game mirrors edge. even though that game pwns.
-

So how would someone get experience safely if they do not have accesses to a teacher? -

You dont really need a teacher to do parkour safely.
Just read up on tips how to practise it safely from sites online and you should do fine.
One very important point when starting out is, just do alot of strength training and conditioning.
You need to build up your joints so that a problem like your joints wearing out can be avoided.
One very good article on this is: http://www.teamtraceur.com/goodies/blane_armour.html
Also, start very small. Dont try the dangerous vaults such as the saut de chat when first starting out.
Also, try to climb lower walls and then you can build up your confidence as well.
This is where strength and endurance comes in, climbing.
If you advance further and decide to climb higher, jump further, you need to build up your "armour"
Yet again, http://www.teamtraceur.com/goodies/blane_armour.html
Very good resource.
This ensures a lower risk of injury, short term or long term. -

I've never actually done it before but I always wanted to do a horizontal wallrun (only found out it was parkour just now)...
But I don't know where to do it ... but I don't wanna' hit my head on the concrete?
Where do you guys practise? -
