    QUOTE (Nigel (UCPSB Founder))
well.. UPSB was down for a long time. And I decided to put up a temporary board for the psers from there.
So I opened UCPSB V1. The whole project was intended to be temporary, so I used a forum host with not a lot of functions. More psers came so I decided to "upgrade" to v2 by using iF boards.
V1 went up during November 2005, and V2 during January 2006
    V1:
    who helped make it..
    I remembered Rob did.
    and a friend of his.
yeah a member.. lost contact though.
    V2:
    then zombo became a mod.
and everything went uphill from there

    QUOTE (Zombo)
Back in August 2006, UCPSB underwent major changes to improve its reputation as an international board. Before that, UCPSB's reputation was rotten due to a bad PS Olympics and loose moderating. At that time, there were only 2 active moderators (Zombo and sketching). UCPSB was seen as a haven for spammers and flamers and people were scared of getting criticized for their style of spinning or the length of their pen mods.

The changes were first issued to the emoticons set, to give some more spice to the board. A skin changer was then installed. Then various mods were installed to improve the functionalities of the board. The arcade was also revived. To prevent flaming, a block feature was created. UCPSB also changed its name from Uber Cool PS Board to UCPSB: the Collective Pen Spinning Board in order to give a more serious attitude. IRC chat was also added.

Later on, a crisis erupted with FPSB members. Because of this and sketching's semi-activity, new moderators were needed.

The first batch included Eburt, Ivan and Toast. Of those three, Eburt and Ivan were accepted. Toast was then later replaced by Eriror.

In early spring, the research department was created.

At that time, the board was safely under control and began to prosper.

All references can be found in the news section of the board.

I have a feeling I'm going to collect more stuff like this, so I made a thread to put it all in. We can then arrange it into a neat article in a few weeks or months.
