i just listened to the podcast-6. i didn't realise how amazing David Weis was in the pen spinning community. i just thought he made the backaround and thats why he's famous.. but heck..he contributed heaps in the pen spinning community.

    so..

why isn't he a honoricfic Mod? he should be IMO after listening to the podcast..

maybe, we dont really have that concept though, because then it can get out of hand (ppl will probably say bonkura is the next one to deserve it, etc.)

he does have a special title for a while already.

The ones that are moderators now without being active so just are so since they were mods back on UPSB2/UCPSB also, David never was that.

    Honoricfic?

Because then others will start asking why they can't get the same title. And if the person only posts a handful of times per year, it doesn't make much of a difference. They might as well just post as a regular member since they won't be using mod functions.

how many of the UPSB members asked to have the honorific title when Phya Tohlz(?) got the title?

and how many other people have
    -spun for like 15 year
    -have a website for penspinning
-created a trick which was named after their name??

Only person i can think of is Kam.
so if theres more people who have done all those things, well..they should be a honorific mod too.

idn..i guess it doesn't make much of a difference if he's a mod or not. im probably saying this because i really believed in the rank system someone made a thread about. (can't find it)

Phya and tohlz are not honorific moderators. They are real mods, selected through the normal process, and are simply inactive now.

Every mod on UPSB3 was either part of the UPSB2 staff or the UCPSB staff and were given an invitation to join the team for UPSB3, which they've accepted.

    QUOTE
many mods have obtained their rank either by honorific (nigel, tohlz, kaisen)

well..i was wrong about Phya..but tohlz still is..

    sorry, by that I meant

those members were moderators in the past. even though its pretty clear that they'll never moderate actively again (in kaisen and nigel's case for example), they still retain their moderator status.

tohlz was a real moderator. He was moderator before I was even moderator back on Pentix forums. For a long time, UPSB2 was mostly moderated by only two persons: me and tohlz.

    WhiteFang,

David has never asked to be a moderator. I am sure he is busy enough as it is, and being a moderator would just add to his list of responsibilities.

Yes, being a moderator is not about having a title and the power to close, delete, move topics. It comes with its own set of responsibilities (check the forums, keep it organized, etc.).

Anyways, David has certainly contributed a lot to PS, but I'm sure he has not done it for a title. Also, there are plenty of ways to honor David Weis that would be more meaningful than giving him a moderator position.

For example, as he mentioned on the podcast, he prefers seeing PS with "style", rather than blindly going at it for speed.

Err...you could also build him a statue or something if you really want to tongue.gif

we used to have honorific rankings on UPSB2 though.

ppl would have a * in their user title. But since is David Weis is PS Ninja, there's no need for that.
