Devil's shadow is not that hard a trick if you already know shadow normal 12-23, you just raise the middlefinger to allow the pen to continue slide under the middlefinger. You can probably figure it out yourself how it is done by watching it a few times.

In your post you ask for a devil's sonic tutorial, if it was actually that you were looking for, then take a look at Eso's tutorial.

Since the title asked for Devil's Shadow, and there is already a Devil's Sonic thread, this thread will only be for Devil's Shadow.
Devil's Shadow @ the wiki.
As the pen moves into the 23 slot (for Devil's Shadow 12) you can push the end of the pen with the middle finger and a circular hand movement to move it underneath the middle finger back into the 12 slot. -

If you want the pen to keep moving around the middle finger, you would want to do MiddleArounds Reverse intead. The start is the same as a Devil's Shadow, then you just keep adjusting the hand to keep it in constant motion around the middle finger.

ahh, yeah i ment devils shadow.
i get it now though. it wasnt that hard, Siman speaks the truth
does that mean a devils shadow can be performed from the 23 slot and 34 slot insted of 12.
eg. like:
shadow 23-34 > Fl RingAround. -

Yes, Devil's Shadow can be performed from the T1 slot, 12 slot, 23 slot and 34 slot.
Devil's Shadow 23 would look like
Charge 0.5 23 ~> FL Ringaround 1.0 23-23 >~ Charge 0.5 23
or
Shadow 1.0 23-34 ~ FL Ringaround 0.5 34-23 ~ Charge 0.5 23 -

I'd say for you to try practicing Fingerless Pinkyaround 34-34, as it's the same catch around the pinky. If you're like me though, Devil's Shadow 34-34 is actually easier than FL PA 34-34.

The key is to have the most part of the mod under the hand befor starting the twisted sonic.

How do I do it without having to make a jerking motion like the person in the video?
I'm thinking get enough practice so I can do it smoothly...but I still think I'd have to make a jerking motion..how do i get it smooth? -

If you dont care how you catch the pen, you dont really have to do the jerk. You only do the jerk in the end as a way to position the pen so that it is easy to do it continuously. Instead you can just do like a shadow normal 12-23 (for devil's shadow 12-12), where you raise your middlefinger, and when get to the point where you would normally catch the pen if you were to do a regular shadow, you instead let the pen continue slide under your middlefinger and into the 12 slot where you catch it. In that situation, where you dont do the positioning jerk, you will end with most of the pen being under your hand (when doing the trick palmdown), which then will make it hard to do another devil's shadow.
