I dont have a tripod, so how!?

Hi, I would like to know how would I set up a camera angle, such that it is from a first person view. Up till now, I have been just holding the camera right next to my eye to achieve this effect. However, this results in the camera shaking periodically, and it is very frustrating when I finally get down a combo, but find out that half of it is off screen. I do not have a tripod or another person to help film me, so can anyone suggest a good way to position the camera in the aforementioned angle( using whatever, hanging camera from somewhere, etc.) An example vid is here:

I have the same problem, no webcam, and i can't stand holding the camera while i spin

find a table or something, and then stack up books or other objects until you reach a desired height wink.gif

    Date: Thu, Jun 5 2008 01:27:53

You could tape your camera to a book and stack stuff under one side so it's angled. For height do what JC said.

    use a tripod

I have like, a desk light thing that doesn't work, and if I screw out the lightbulb, I can shove my camera in there and twist and bend the light to my wishes. But it looks pretty weird. So I'll try the book stack and tape.

I tape mine at an angle about 2 and a half up feet looking down. My camera is very small though.

Any other method that doesnt require the use of tape? I'll give it a shot with tape lol, although I'm pretty sure my mum will scream bloody murder if she sees me doing that. dry.gif

    i just hold mine...
just hold it maybe 2 1/2 - 3 feet above from the pen and yeah... it's hard to concentrate on both.. i know.. that's why my combos are always poopsicled -.- but yea good luck, if you don't like it i would just recommend getting a tripod like pholord said

Tape the camera in front of your eyes so your videos look like when you watch your own spinning.

LOL, dude I was like actually thinking that, why can't we have cameras in our eyes? So it'll be easier to film and what not. I always wonder that because I can never get a good angle it's always different from what you see in my freestyles. Any ways get a head band and if you have a clip of some sort just clip your webcam on your head band and it's GOOD TO GO! cool.gif

take a bag(cotton) fill it with sand now put that bag on a table an put the camera on top of it so it films down from the table.... now sit in front of the table and spin or die ^^

the camera wont fall because the bag changes its form

Hm, sorry to bring back a month old post, but i thought I'd rather get flamed for bumping old topics than posting a new topic when a similar topic was on the same page.

Well, I use a digital camera and lack a tripod, but I just found a way to set it up without stacking too many items. It even angles down on its own so you don't need a sandbag or whatever.

    Here's my setup haha

    Spoiler:

The camera is hanging by its lanyard on the drawer above, and the wallet is there to support the angle. The flashlight is there just to keep the drawer from closing any further. The green area is where I put my hand when I spin biggrin.gif

A little strange, but it works for me xD

do you use a digital camera? if you do, don't you need to take it out for other uses then retape and crap? :\

so the tape is strong enough to stick the camera to the box and the ruler is in case it doesn't hold?
or do you just set it on the ruler? huh.gif

part of the camera rest on the ruler, the tape is just so it wont tip over the ruler. and now i put a wad of paper under where the lens are, so it wont fall anymore. it fell a few times already ohmy.gif

These methods seem really innovative, but I stilll think that holding the camera in one hand and spinning in the other is the most hassle free way. thumb.gif

Well if you have webcam you could clip it on to a lamp or something like me

This is pretty convenient actually cuz when I wanna film I just clip it there, film, and take it back off. And the thing's designed for clipping to a notebook anyway so this workd real well.

Edit- Just look up any video of me to see how it turns out. thumb.gif

Just made something to hold my camera in place while filming and it works well enough.

the back... the tape up at the top holds down the camera lace in case something screws up. I don't want to break an expensive camera.

overview. as you can see the two rush hour cars taped down prevent the camera from sliding off and the lens sticks out between them. the third one behind also helps

this is the angle i got (i can still adjust):

Yup, I beleive in one vid he actually mentions his camera veiw and how he does it.
and since hes left handed I wouldn't want that angle for when I'm spinning on my right hand...
I suppos you could replicate it be stacking up some books, or putting you camera on a shelf, with a hook, or some duct tape.

Oh and Santa do you go to Central High? there are a lot more pen spinners in highschool....

Well for me.. I use a camera with the video setting.. not a real video camera I guess, but it works.
When I turn the camera on the lense comes out, so I can lean the camera forward on its lense, just stack some books up, lean it forward, and there ya go.
