    Project Title: Standardizing Research

    Project Leader: Eburt

Project Description: This project will clearly outline a formal format for the conducting of research in a scientific method. This means that constraints and formatting will be in place as well as peer review and actual investigation into the topic. It is also noted that use of this format will be optional, but suggested so as to standardize research and facilitate further research.

Reason: The Research Department, while growing in leaps and bounds, lacks a formal system of organization for the articles (the formatting of the article itself) as well as the way in which research has been conducted. In the past, this may have been acceptable; however if we are to look at Pen Spinning as a growing and ever developing hobby, one must conclude that a more formal system will become necessary at some point. By laying the groundwork early, this system encourages thorough, adequate and correct research. One may also note that the “research” that has been going on has been mainly discussion of topics, rather than looking into new fields and examining old ones. While this is fine, it lacks the scientific approach, which the term “research” implies. Hence, more investigation and completeness will be added to the system.

    Example Topics:
-Proper format for writing a research article.
-Policies and procedures when conducting research.
    -Ethical guidelines for research.

Note, I don't really care if anyone else uses this, but I intend to do so, and I figured I'd at least share it with you all as well in case anyone else wants to... which I hope someone does.

Yeah, well that pretty much explains the project in as much detail as I care to prior to writing the articles mentioned. Expect them over the next week or so.

Feel free to comment, suggest additional topics, or help out.

Mats has already commented that he feels the Ethics article is unnecessary, however I still intend to write it. Reasons will be explained in more detail there.
