So you don't like TEK's way of doing it? (I LIKE IT BY THE WAY) I will tell you how.
Things needed-
-Some sort of insert/outsert (I recommend origami paper or something, nice and thin.)
-Double sided tape
-Non-Retard.
1. Cut insert/outsert to size needed.
2. Put Double sided tape on the top and bottom of the BACKSIDE of the insert/outsert.
3. Wrap insert/outsert on TIGHTLY.
Voila!
You have yourself a outsert!
Pros/Cons
1. Pro: If done right looks nice.
2. Con: Sometimes can get caught on fingers during combos/tricks.
3. Pro: Ummmm, it's awesome. lol.
Well there you go!
And for Tek: Yu also have a nice way of making outserts. -

The paper can easily get dirty and rip.
Plus if it gets wet, its gone. IMO
but this is an easier way to change the outsert. -

Ya i guess it could get dirty. i havent had that problem yet with my comssa. you just have to make sure you put the tap right at the edge of the insert/outsert.

it really doesnt rip easily. double sided tape depending on what brand is super strong. at least mine is. plus origami paper isnt cheap. but i guess its pretty cheap way for outserts.

Can't you just print an insert onto sticker paper then? It'd be the same thing as taping it on.
BTW, you probably should have posted this in TEK's how to make an outsert thread. -

but then i would be posting a tutorial in a tutorial...
plus i couldnt find sticker paper at micheals. -

its shiny origami paper. so its a glossy feeling.

good new way
but i think that if it accidentally touches water then the ink may run.
and sometimes if you have paper used soo much or touched idk..it starts to get fuzzy and fade and get dirty ya..
and over all i think the technique is a bit harder to do then mine because you cant really overlap the outsert or else it will be sticking up
cutting it could be a bit tricky if you want it to be perfect without showing any of the barrel.
but it is still nice to give other people options of doing something if they like this way better ^^.
good job -

I've done this before
The paper feels REALLY weird when you spin it -

what if you're spinning and your fingers catch the seam? It'll rip the whole thing out. But it's COOL.
Nice method of making an outsert. -

TEK's posted method of making an outsert is far superior to this method. You have more control spinning-wise when dealing with the feel of the tape (in TEK's method) rather than dealing with the paper material in this method.
And to answer your question, use regular paper...anything else is too thick. -

You could wrap some clear tape around it to keep it waterproof.
