As per request of -JC- heres the tut

    ZMG-Prism
    COG: Dead center
Length: You can make it what ever you like
Weight: 20g, but can be made a little less.
    Style: Double ended
    Estimated Cost: £15

    Pens Needed:
    2x Marvy Leplume II
    2x Zebra Z-Grip Max
    2X Pilot G1
    2x ink fills ( I think I used 2 from my flexgrips )

    Barrel:
1X "Prism" cold cathode ( Only useing the outer caseing tube )
Warning If you going to use a diffent make to the "Prism" Check that its a 9mm OD, as most cathodes use a 10mm OD and that wont fit the caps.

    Finished Pic:

1)Take the grips and metal rings off the z-grips
    2) Cut the tips of the g1 off just above the grips. You need the bit of plastic barrel.
Where the red line is :

    3) Take the 2 big caps from the Marvy Pen and Push the G1 tips that are attached to the little bit of plastic barrel down the front end. There should be just enough room so that the tip just fits nicely.
    4) Get abit of sand paper and work down the back end of the cap on the out side so that the little metal rings of the z-grip will fit over the ends. It dosnt take much sanding.
    5) Work the z-grip on to the caps, Go from the tip end to the back, You want to go this way as when you get close to the metal ring you need to take it off and use just a tiny bit of glue, then put the ring back on and move the grip just over the edge.
    6) Take a drill and make a hole inside the cap so that you can put an ink fill tho to the tip. I think 3mm did the trick for me.
    7) Take the cathode and cut the ends off and take out the light. give it a wash. The lights come in two sizes 7" and 9" I think. Once you have the barrel you then need to work out how long you want the pen to be.
    8) Cut the tube to the length you want and then clean up the ends.
    9) Print out a insert and work it in. I found a 2cm hight was just about right.
    10) Put the ink fills next to the barrel with the caps on and work out where you need to cut the ends of the fills so that they back up to each other, Take your time on this cos you want it perfect so they dont move when useing it as a pen.
    11) Once cut simply tape them together ends touching. and pop them in.
    12) Pop on the caps and bingo your done.

Like I said in the Show your pens thread, I know the barrel is not from a pen but that didnt matter to me at all, if it does to you than I sure you can find somthing to use.

IMO its a geat pen to spin.

i really want to make one of these. good tut. Seems a bit difficult to make but i think i could do it. I really like the look of the pen and i think it could come out very nicely. Good job and i like the idea of using the prism thing as a barrel. How does it feel compared to say an rsvp barrel? Good job overall this is a very professional looking mod

Never used a RSVP sorry cant get them here in england as far as I know.

The best way to discribe it is, its like useing a GA but with out the gripyness of the shaft or the middle grip. And the texure of the barrel is just the same as any standard clear plastic pen, if that helps.

    QUOTE
    1X "Prism" cold cathode

Where do I get one of these from?

    Can't find any Prism related stuff o.o;

btw, would this count as a pen mod?

Ya that was my fear, You need to check, car mod webbys, its a neon light that goes in foot well to give it that street racer look etc.
This is what your looking for Here
Tho any cathode will work as long as the OD is 9mm. I got mine from Maplins

As for it being a pen mod, I got in to a fight over that on a difo forum, so I dont mind now what its called. I just refer to it as a Custom Pen Spinner to save hassel.

    hmm...interesting
in your tut you had removed teh light...
i wonder if it would be possibly to keep the light in and somehow make this a LED mod, that would be pretty cool ohmy.gif

but thanks for the tut happy.gif

That mod cost more than £15 with all those parts.
    Prism tube - £9.99
    x 2 Marvy Le Plume II - £5
    x 2 Zebra Z-Grip Max - £2 (roughly)
    x 2 Pilot G1 - £2.50
    Ink tubes parts -

But, the pen is long for my liking.

iMatt & Blue you can make it as long or short as you like, as I said in tut.
And I dont have any bits spare to take pics sorry. I have just taken 1 extra of the caps to explain the g1 tips bit better tho.

Jc I really dont think so biggrin.gif it would be mega hvy hehe and and thats even with out any power.

I did say it wasnt cheap but I didnt pay that much.

The light I know was £7.99 but that might have been a deal.

I got 2 marvy caps for £1 from hobby craft

Z-grips and g1's for £5 from staples if I remember rightly.

I think a decent option for a pen replacement of the barrel would be a SB RSVP Vortex body, with the ends sanded to fit the LePlume caps nicely.
