UPSB v3

Naming Committee / [project][5.16]UPSB Breakdown Project

This is an attempt to create a PS breakdown database for major collaboration videos on the UPSBwiki. Each major collaboration video will have its own thread under this project. This thread is to discuss what videos to breakdown, who breakdowns what, and other relevant issues.
Finished breakdowns could go under 'Research Department' category, 'Breakdown' sub-category. Of course, finished breakdowns must be proofread by several members before their release.

The first step is to build up members for a 'breakdown team.' This team may consist of, but not limited to, frequent breakdown-ers in the Breakdown Request thread. If you can suggest any potential members, or if you would like to participate, please let me know through PM. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post here as well.

    Thank you.

this seems like a pretty good idea actually. But the trouble is, what videos do you decide should be worth breaking down? Then what about collaborations? There's just a lot of variables like that which could make things a butt ton harder to accomplish your goal.

The major collaboration vids are a good start.

At any time, a new thread could be started for any other breakdown request in the old Breakdown Request thread. Otherwise, there could be a separate thread strictly for breakdown requests here that could be voted on as to whether to add to the list of discussion threads: a middle-man thread between the UPSB Breakdown Request thread and the individual discussion threads within the NC. It would function just like the General NC Brainstorm thread.

idk, All I can see happening is maybe 1 or 2 people actually will breakdown combos on a request list and post them. Then how do we sort them, by name? collab? both? (not to be contradictory man, just some stuff to be considered)

There is no need to 'sort' them. Each collab can have it's own page on the wiki with its complete breakdown and all this can be under a new category called 'breakdowns' or 'collab breakdowns'. The wiki will order them alphabetically in the category automatically. The breakdowns can appear in order of their appearance in the collab.

I am willing to check over breakdowns, however, I do not believe I can break a combo down from 'scratch' at this moment in time.

Ok, I will keep this in mind. Thank you.

Would anyone else from the RD like to volunteer as a member of the team?

Okay, I actually know that I'm in the break team, but I'm researcher now (and last to learn it) and I'd like to know if this is beacause of the breakdown team or anything else.

Stay'n Alive, all members of the Breakdown Team are required to be RD members since the Breakdown Project takes place inside Research Department -> Naming Committee.

Well it seems everyone is here, so here is the general procedure -

    1. Decide on major collaborations to breakdown.
    2. Distribute work as equally as possible among members.
    3. Discuss/proofread work among members.
    4. Release work on the UPSBwiki.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this thread.

For step 1, I believe a good starting point is the UPSB+PDS collaboration videos. What do the rest of you think?

    Date: Tue, Jul 1 2008 22:10:35

I think they have already been broken down (both parts) completely and will search for it. The breakdown might need 'modernising'.

the collabs RMX and Genesis have made? I feel they are as closest thing to representing the new UPSB we have. Atleast Genesis, RMX was more UCPSB time, though I think we should break them down too.

UPSB + PDS breakdown will need modernising though.

RMX & Genesis collabs would be good. Eurocollabs too? That's a major annual collab.

I think it would be a good start with RMX & Genesis, and thoughts on the actual first one though?

  13. Mats
    Date: Tue, Jul 1 2008 22:58:29

Just do them both at the same time, it really doesn't matter. Less discussion, more break-downing!

And links to DL any collabs we are breaking down posted at the top of this thread would be useful wink.gif

All the videos are in the videos section under teams already yay!

Alright, we need to distribute the videos among members...

How about we each breakdown 4 videos? For Genesis and RMX.

Maybe we could break down different videos according to our levels in breakdowning?

Ok, I'm sorry for not explaining before. Assigning and breakdown-ing combos are limited to a major collaboration's own topic threads. They do not belong in this thread. This thread is for discussing what to breakdown, not for posting the breakdowns themselves.

    So we do this elsewhere...

    here - http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=8107

I'm sorry, but we can't have everyone doing their own thing. If you want to breakdown a major collaboration video, you must tell me so in this thread so I can create the appropriate branch thread. If you want to breakdown a particular combo or a video, you must tell me in the branch threads. Also, we should try to stick with one video at a time, so our releases our quicker.

*Assignments will take place in the branch threads, not here.

I'll be posting most likely tomorrow. Plus I got all the crap done that I had lost so here we go. Oh yea and welcome LMnet.
