Anyone care to take an area up to research?

We are looking at trying to find variants to see if you could develop a whole family for each of those tricks. Then afterwards, how to use them in combos.

There must be quite a few new tricks coming out recently 'cause I've never seen some of the names (Waterfall; Floating Passaround etc.) It would be interesting to delve into the rarer tricks. The problem is that there are so many videos now, not to mention that they are all over the place and are hard to find. For instance, it is seemingly impossible to find a video for 'Waterfall' unless the creator of that trick/combo can be found

Wow, that guy is awesome. A lot of good stuff in there. It would look a lot better if the camera wasn't moving though, and had better quality.

nice! you should really apply slow-motion effect to your tricks lol.

Whoa, this is cool. Though technicall it's a Backaround Counter of sorts. Interesting.

not at all, it's just a backaround with added hand motion

    counter would mean reversed direction

The pen nevergoes around the finger. It's like those swivel things, the motion of the pen never changes, but the hand move around it so that it never goes around, pen motion relative to the hand is reversed

i thought the trick included the backaround afterwards

  16. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 17:42:20

er, i don't see why it would? it's a distinct trick > backaround

  17. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 17:43:48

why it be called twisted backaround then

obviously the twist is the hand motion, then the backaround

it doesn't really matter though, just poor naming

  18. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 17:53:18

hmm, i disagree entirely ... he starts the pen in motion of a backaround, then counters it with his hand motion. He could do a shadow afterwards if he wanted, but it doesnt change the fact that what he did first was a backaround variation

it would have been better if in the video he just did the trick and not a backaround afterwards, but the trick itself isn't just a hand motion, the pen begins its motion then he countracts it with hand motion

  19. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 18:04:08

im pretty sure the guy thought the twist was a fancy way to push the backaround.

  20. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 18:24:11

    lol i don't see how that's relevant

  21. Zombo
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 18:32:37

its not, its just earlier when we described the trick, i was referring to the whole video, and you only to the twist.

  22. strat1227
    Date: Thu, Jan 14 2010 18:45:32

hmm, what do you mean by "twist" lol ... because it isn't a spinless trick or anything, the pen is in motion and out of fingerslots the whole time, it's not just like some charge that he's moving his hand around during

but if you were just caling the trick twist for lack of a better word, then yeah

i was just confused because "twist" sounds like you're just twisting yourhand or something

  23. Freeman

what I see is that he does the push for a Bak / Neobak, the pen starts to spin, and then he catches it again with the same fingerslot, doing the hand movement. And then he adds a normal Backaround.

He has also another video of that:

he doesn't do a backaround at the beginning either. he literally just lets go of 2, and then twists his hand, catches it, and does a backaround.

    This.

    Date: Fri, Jan 15 2010 00:17:18

i was referring to that, he said he catches it with the same fingerslot, but that's not true, he release it from 12 and then lets it spin on 1

  27. strat1227
    Date: Fri, Jan 15 2010 00:42:45

And then catches it in 12 right? And then does a normal backaround ... I don't understand the distinction you're making

sleep(1).gif nvm, the same point is made.
on another point, i agree with strat, the backaround shouldn't be a part of the trick

I wonder how many tricks this technique can be applied to. This is essentially the same idea as swivel or dragonaround or whatever it's called lol, only a much easier version of it
