Battlezone / Different Tack-on games on UPSB

On UPSB3 i find only begginers and advenced tack-on games. I think that's not best decision for tack-ons. On Eurapen there is 3 tack-on: Begginers, Advenced and Experts. I think it's better system, because on ucpsb in advecned tack-on level of spinners is very different, some spinners are good, but some are really crazy. My level is good enough for advecned tack-on, but i can't play with spinners like Eriror or Bonkura or some another extremly high level spinner. So, i think administrators must create Experts tack-on game.
On Rus board tack-on is very popular, so i have a lots of experience about this game. I create very precise rules for all games, especially rules about smoothness in tack-on. For example: In beginners tack-on pause beetwen tricks can't be more than 1 sec. In advenced spinners can't make any pause, but they spinning can be not smooth. In experts tack-on main rule is smoothness, all combo must be very smooth. And i enabled to add 2 tricks from 1 spinner sometimes in experts tack-on, because single tricks can be very easy, but they transistion can be very difficult.
And i think we must create games like Continous tack-on, record spin tack-on, trick consistency and other games. They can help spinners to increase they skills in some not very usefull in combo area.

I agree, this would also hopefully enable more high level begginers to try their luck in the advanced section as supposed to them wiping all the others off the begginers tack on.

Flip/pilF made a trick consistency game on UCPSB. Barely anybody submitted videos, and it was a failure. However, with more people active people on this board it might work.

I just give an example, an idea, that UPSB need more games.

i was thinking of this sort of thing too.

like for example, instead of just a regular battle, we could get the spinners battling to shoot a short solo video of maybe 1min++ and get the public to vote which is better, according to a certain theme.

another suggestion would be to get a few spinners, and battle against one other spinner who is vastly superior to them, like say Eriror, and get judges to grade their scores over 100%, 100% being Eriror standard. the 'benchmark' spinner could be made anonymous to make things more professional.

these aren't really games per se, but just more battle ideas. laugh.gif

Meh, I don't think an Expert's tack-on would really get much use. Tack-on is losing popularity in the former UCPSB community anyway... I guess if enough people want it...

The smoothness rules are good though, I will consider implimenting them.

I just randomly thought of this in my kitchen before. I don't know if it would work or what you guys will think, I just quickly wrote it down before I forgot, and well, here's what I wrote:

    Double tack-on:

    Two players and one moderator

Each player makes the other person's combo (rather than both doing the same tack-on), and each films trick by trick seperatly. However, if a player fails to tack on the next trick in the given time limit, the other player must complete that tack on within the time limit to pick up the win, else, that player will lose. Each player can also play a 'swap' once in the game. This means that players switch which combo they use (immediatly) and add to that one instead. If both players play 'swap' at the same time, then there is no effect and both players lose their swap cards. Each player will submit his action to the moderator of the game (the action being adding a trick, and if they want to, using their swap ability).

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example game with two completely made up spinners:

    Kam vs Tohlz

Tohlz gives Kam Sonic 23 - 34 for trick one.
Kam gives Tohlz ThumbAround for trick one.

Each player films within the time limit.

Tohlz gives Kam Sonic 23 - 34 > Charge 34 for trick two.
Kam gives Tohlz ThumbAround > ThumbAround for trick two.

Each player films within the time limit.

    Tohlz gives Kam Sonic 23 - 34 > Charge 34 > RingBackAround 34 - 12 for trick three.
Kam gives Tohlz Continuous ThumbAround x2 > BackAround 12 - 34 for trick three.

Each player films within the time limit.

    Tohlz gives Kam Sonic 23 - 34 > Charge 34 > RingBackAround 34 - 12 > NeoBackAround 12 - 12 2.0 for trick four.
Kam gives Tohlz Continuous ThumbAround x2 > BackAround 12 - 34 > Sonic 34 - 12 for trick four and plays his swap card.

Each player films within the time limit.
    (Tohlz must now film Sonic 23 - 34 > Charge 34 > RingBackAround 34 - 12 > NeoBackAround 12 - 12 2.0)
    (Kam must now film Continuous ThumbAround x2 > BackAround 12 - 34 > Sonic 34 - 12)

    Tohlz now adds IndexAround making Kam's combo: Continuous ThumbAround x2 > BackAround 12 - 34 > Sonic 34 - 12 > IndexAround
    Kam now adds BackAround 1.5 making Tohlz's combo: Sonic 23 - 34 > Charge 34 > RingBackAround 34 - 12 > NeoBackAround 12 - 12 2.0 > BackAround 1.5

Each player now tries to film within the time limit. Tohlz however, fails to do so within the time limit. Now all Kam must do is film the combo (in a reset time limit) and he has won. If he fails, Tohlz will take the game!

Kam fails to film the combo.

    Tohlz wins!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Bluffing Tack-on Game:

    The Rules:
I post a trick, then you post a trick, then I post one, then you post one and this cycle continues. No videos however, are posted. At some point in the combo, one person must challenge the other to do the combo, within 72 hours. If the person does do the combo within 72 hours, they win. If they fail to do the combo, they lose.

    Example game
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some more games if it's games you want!

    Round 1:
ROund 1 is played only once. Round 2 and 3 are played and then repeated until a

    winner is found.
Player A and player B both makes a combo with half(x) tricks (round down for odd

numbers). If the same trick appears in both combos, player A loses.

    Further rounds:
    Round 2
Firstly, player A and player B make a combo of at least x tricks (perhaps 12 or

something like that). Both players must also write a breakdown with their combo. If

the same trick appears in either combo, player B loses.
    Round 3
If the same trick did not yet appear, then round 2 occurs. Both players again make a

combo with a minimum x tricks and write a breakdown. This time however, if the same

trick appears in either combo, player A loses.

There will then be consecutive rounds in a similar fashion until a trick is repeated.

    The Rules
If a trick is used in both combos, then a player will lose. If the round number is

odd, player B will lose, if the round number is even, player A will lose.
You cannot use a trick that has been used in a previous round by your opponent. If

    you do so, you lose.
If you use a hybrid, then it counts as using all tricks involved in the hybrid. For

example, if I use Twisted Sonic, that counts as me using Charge and Pass. A hybrid

will be counted as one use of each trick within it. For instance, Twisted Sonic would

count as two tricks for the purposes of this game, a Charge and a Pass.
Continuous tricks cannot be used in this game.

    Some tips
Most spinners have a style that will tend to use similar trick families, so in rounds

in which you are at risk, it is probably best to try and avoid the trick familes you

usually tend to use and try and do something totally different, to prevent your

    opponent winning.
If you are trying to take out a guy in the round, it is perhaps wise to tend to go

for tricks you know that person uses a lot, or common tricks that he/she might slip

    in.

I made up this game to try and make a pen spinning game that requires you to use your

head and your pen spinning skills. Having a wider trick database is of course an

advantage in this game, as is being smart in trying to catch out your opponent whilst

avoiding his/her attempts to catch out you.

UNTESTED GAME THAT WAS POSTED ON UCPSB. I MODIFIED THE RULES SINCE THEN USING SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE POSTED ON UCPSB TO MAKE THE GAME WORK BETTER. Would appreciate if two people tried this game to see how it works out. smile.gif

Some games from UPSB that seem to have been forgotten:

    QUOTE (Mats)
    PS Game - Breakdown

I don't know if this will work or be popular, but anyways...

    Rules:

The winner of the last round puts up a video of a combo.

People must attempt a breakdown of the combo that has been filmed (Max two attempts per person).

The first person to get a correct breakdown wins and gets to do the next combo.

If no one has a completely correct breakdown after seven days, the performer of the combo posts a breakdown and the person who got closest to a correct breakdown of the combo (judged by the person who performed the combo) is declared the winner. A new round then begins.

Do not use tricks that have no name yet, obscure tricks or tricks with naming issues.

If someone posts a different name to what you did for the same trick, then the breakdown is still correct. For example, if you have the trick down as backaround 1.5 and the person posts backspin 1.5, although they have used a different name it is still the same trick and this part of the breakdown would be correct.

the person doing the combo should not help anyone to breakdown the combo, anyone doing so will be disqualified.

Please try to keep videos under a megabyte and give the name of the video a title such as 'Combo' that does not give away any of the tricks in the video.

    Why do this game:

Keep the video quality to a least a standard in which the tricks can be seen. Don't have any blur or shake if possible and avoid messy backgrounds.

If you win a round, but cannot post a video of another combo for any reason, Post that you cannot and nominate someone else (asking them first would be a good idea) to do a combo for you.

Hopefully this will improve people's breakdown skills and help people to learn the names of tricks.

It should also produce some nice combo videos for people to watch.

    QUOTE (Card_Sharper)
There are tons of games that popped up recently..
    PS tack on
    PS tack on beginners
    PS Breakdown

    here's one more..
It'll be somewhat close to CTT
``someone creates a video of a combo, and everyone will attempt to mimic the combo. 10 moves max

``The first person to make a satisfactory imitation gets the honor of making the next video.

``If no one can successfully copy the combo well in 5 days, then the person who submitted his combo makes another one.

``the person who submits his video has to reveal the breakdown before the last 2 days. If he doesn't, the deadline is extended as a penalty

``Air tricks are no allowed. Too hard to replicate

``The copy-cat versions of the video need to be somewhat close to the speed and smoothness of the original video

for double tack-on, you swap AFTER seeing what your opponent gave you to film, righT?

also I don't see why if both fails, the first person to fail wins the game. It should either make the game continue or tie.

You submit it at the same time as the trick for that round, so no.

It means each player must try to cause the other as much difficulty as possible, whilst still being able to do the combo themselves, else they could just put something like PalmSpin 9.5 and the game would tie since niether would be able to do it.

I have seen no support from anyone who would play. Bare minimum I'd need 3 to make it worth while. Of course, I'd host it if someone shows support... but so far its a waste of my time...
