UPSB v3
Forum Games / Rumble #2 - Replacement Sign-ups
A game of superheroes (and supervillains?)

Date: Sat, Jul 5 2008 05:36:40
READ THE RULES: http://kevan.org/rumble.cgi?genre=hero&mode=rules
In addition please abide to the following rules:
- No communication outside of this thread is allowed!
- My interpretation of the powers is ALWAYS correct. Make sure you ask questions about the powers BEFORE the game starts to clarify the usage of any power.
- Damage refers to the loss of energy due to attacks.
- Curses are attributed to the lowest bidder, with the highest bidder(s) paying their bid. In case of tie, each lowest bidder receives a copy of the curse.
- If at least two people are tied for the bidding of a power, ALL players who've bid on that power may re-bid.
- Minimum bid for any power is 5, except for curses.
- Not bidding for a curse is equal to bidding 0.
- You may discard a power at any time. No refund for the power will be given. You cannot discard a curse.
- A sidekick is a separate hero under the control of his/her owner and is not considered his/her opponent. The owner may attack his/her sidekicks and vice-versa. The player loses if his/her main hero is dead, regardless of the status of his/her sidekicks. The attacks and defense of each character is separate.
- Sidekicks are affected by "summoning sickness" and cannot attack nor use powers the turn they come into play, unless otherwise mentionned.
This game will require 5 players. Sign-up is NOT first come, first serve. I'll pick the players I trust are the most active. IIRC, one spot has already been reserved for Whitefang (he asked for it). I fully expect regular gamers to join this game, such as Rorix, minche, Mats, Eriror, etc. So even if a bunch of people have already joined, don't be afraid to put your name down. Replacements are always welcome.

This game was more complicated than I first realized (after you posted the powers and about bidding). Withdrawn to play (the more simple) Lair's Dice instead. -

Make sure you understand every single power on that list. Ask questions if you do not understand.
Since I haven't selected the players yet, anybody can ask questions on the powers or discuss.
Game will start soon. -

1. yes, but then you lose the evolve power for good
2. yes they damage everybody, including your own hero. they "explode", sending shards of glass in all directions.
3. for each person you attacked in a turn, you lose 5 energy. Example: you attacked 4 persons this turn. At the end of the turn, you will lose 20 energy. The reason its a gambit is that if you managed to DAMAGE all 4 persons, you will have gained 40 energy due to the first effect, and only lost 20 due to the second effect, therefore its a net gain. You have to damage on at least half of your attacks in order to avoid losing energy. 2/4 = 20 energy gained, 4*5 = 20 energy lost

the game relies heavily on discussion...
- discussing powers, sometimes ppl reveal their power combos
- people make alliances even during the auction phase. that's when they want different powers, so they promise to each other they wont bid on the other person's coveted power
- people make alliances during the game, each round they'll discuss who's the most dangerous etc.
its a very good game -
