General Discussion / Heavy vs. Light pens

    Does anyone find it strange when you switch from a light pen to a heavy one, and from heavy pens to light pens? Its weird because i find i do certain tricks better with one than the other. Conical tricks i seem to do really well with heavier pens, and spin tricks (TS, Shadow, Spiderspin) i do much better with lighter pens.

    Is there a happy medium weighted pen out there? Anyone else experience this phenomanon?

    Not sure if this is in the right section. Might be better catagorized under general...or under mods? I wasnt sure.

    Well of course i experience this. smile.gif
    Even after all this time spinning, I still have pretty weak fingers.
    So whenever I start to spin, I always use a heavy pen to sort of strengthen
    my dexterity.
    Then I'de switch to a much lighter pen so the feel of the pen made it more effortless in
    my spinning.
    Some people wonder why you'd go from heavy to light, but this way, your fingers experience
    the differences between both pens and be able to perform better, no matter what the weight.
    And of course, everyone knows heavy pens are great training pens whether your beginner or pro.

    light = faster tricks
    heavy = slower but (smoother?)

    I don't know why but since i changed from metal comssa to dr comssa i cannot spin with any light mod! I feel i learn the tricks much easier with dr comssa while i cannot do any combo with any light mod.

    after spinning my nx mmt for a long time i get sick of it and i switch to my comssa, and after after a while, vice versa. with heavier mods i can do stuff like bakfall better but with light mods i can spin faster...

    When I want to change from heavy to light pens or from light to heavy pens, I usually need like 2 days to get used to the new weight. Even if I can use both of them I prefer heavy pens like Dr. Kt and RVSP MSXA.

    personally, i mostly spin 1 pen (metallic comssa) so when i switch to another, like a metallic ballsign, MX, etc. the weight difference throws me off and i suck at a lot of tricks that i've had no problems with before, so i just stick to the one that feels most compfortable to me smile.gif

    I kinda find myself spinning faster and faster on my KT while I'm slowly getting used to it though ph34r.gif

    Is this a bad sign?

    I like heavier pens.

    Spins smoothly and easier.

    somewhat i like light mods O_o
    when i spin a ZT, ehh my smoothness disappears from if i was spinning
    weight like a MX. but i donno, maybe its cuz i havent been spinning more weight and not used to it haha...

    I spin kts 90% of the time
    however, today when i switched to a jap clor pencil mod for 5-6 hrs, i found that i do all of my tricks on it.
    then when i went back to my kt, i couldnt spin it anymore, kept dropping>.>

    I only use my Dr. KT when training, learning new tricks, doing cont. tricks, etc. I switch to my "lighter" mods when performing or spinning casually. Well, not really that light, but lighter than the KT.

    Its very strange... I made my own mod and it was really heavy. I loved it. Then one day... it suddenly FELT really heavy to my hands. So I had to take off a bunch of weight. The next day, it felt heavy still! I took off as much weight as I could... and now it feels perfect. Now, my nexy mod (with 2 impact tips on each side), my R-Stic (with 2 signos on each side), my NX-MMTs (with 3 HGGs on the front and a signo in the back), and any KT I spin feel way too heavy. I can spin a regular nx-mmt and a balanced mx just fine now.

    Personally I like light pens like a comssa or a pencil mod. Even with light pens I can still do the smoothness I had with a heavy pen like my Dr.KT.
    But I say middle weight pens like a metal ballsign or metal comssa is better since I can maintain the smoothness and the speed.
