step 4. sand down the g2 tip so that the hgg tip fits over top the pencil point should be right at the end and sand down the outter rim of the screw threads so its flush with the body.

    clap.gif Great job

    can`t wait to make one
just gotta get some G2 MP`s

  5. Adam_ADD
    Date: Sat, Jul 26 2008 00:38:45

you can do it with a super grip too
but you live in the U.S. you can probably find g2 mechs no problem

This is a nice alternative to barrel cutting. I'd recommend a name change, TEK already has the official MP MX. This seems like a variations, but still very nice

  7. Adam_ADD
    Date: Sat, Jul 26 2008 00:43:22

You still need to cut the barrels. what else should i name it? Its an mp mx theres no going around it.

^ Lol Yea well atleast ADD did it with something thats easy to find like almost everywhere not some random pencil that like ive never seen anywhere...

in all fairness TEK invented the technique of cutting the rsvp "tip" and replacing it with the mp tip and adam simply found a sub for tthe mp. it was bound to happen sooner or later. buying pens/pencils online or thru the mail just sucks. its way easier to find a sub at a local store. adam's sub is more widely distributed but requires much more work to make.

and id like to say thank you k4s for waiting on the release of your mp mx until i got the same amount of money i spent on those msp's.

    great sub dawg

and it was bound to happen. give credit where credit is due so gj tek on ingenious rsvp tip cut. but this is probably gonna spawn a whole family of different sub testing that people can use that they can easily get a hold of.

and as much as you want this to be business, profit and glory... share the wealth. ya dig? its about the love of penspinning and efficient mods.

    nice job dude...
although i do remember talking about this to TEK b4 and he just said do what you want...doesn't really matter though it was gonna happen sooner or later dunno.gif
although i do kinda feel strongly against you making a brand new thread for this cuz it's basically the same as the one released by TEK...i mean there are tons of MPs that you could use for MPMX...it was mostly just HOW you would make it an mp w/o changing the look...

TEK deserves like MILLIONS of times more credit than he is getting for this....
you're taking the fact that he was releasing the method for making the MPMX that most of us didn't have a clue about how to do before he made that video, which i have just realized to be kinda unfair for TEK...

Tried this a few minutes ago. The main problem is that it's not durable. Just taping the two segments together isnt enough. I mean, I take the grip off, and the whole shit comes out haha. I think it's my sanding, buhh idk. Nice pen thoo.

  19. Adam_ADD

try using packaging tape i used scotch tape for the first like testing day it held up somewhat ok but like you said the whole front end came off. again credit to TEK for that idea.

oh and it is share the wealth peace love and pen spinning. if no one knows where to buy the pens then we can't share the wealth. p.s. tek just mod them your self and sell em already modded people will buy them.

Wat are the measurements of how much you should cut the rsvp tip and how much you should cut the G2 mech pencil?

  26. Noober

I think the lead tube is just shorter, not 'smaller'. (not sure what you meant by that)
If you meant thinner, it would hold less lead, which would be bad for an mp (especially since it already has a standard to compare to, the G2 mp regular), so I dont think its any thinner than the regular.
Besides, I dont think it can get any thinner; otherwise it would be too frail to hold lead and give the lead room to move freely. xD

  45. (ORLY)InhumanElmo
    Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 01:58:42

If it is the same mechanism then yes it should work, you just have to have a longer tube to add to it.

  46. benjamin0s
    Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 02:00:37

or instead of using a toothpick, you could sand down the tube and stick a hgg ink tube over for easy lead installation. make sure you stick the inktube in as far as you can. i think it would also stick better for the hgg back cap

    How about TAPE

  48. (ORLY)InhumanElmo
    Date: Thu, Aug 28 2008 03:33:36

Tape works its just very tight in that barrel as it is. I stay away from tape just so the mechanism is as smooth as possible.

  54. (ORLY)InhumanElmo

Electrical tape and duct tape dont work well. After a while they become tacky and will slide worse. I used packing clear tape. Its thin and holds well enough.

    As in, the clicker.

  85. Adam_ADD

the back end with the rsvp will pop back into place after you click it.

its to lengthen the g2 mechanical pencil tube thats it. it can be subbed with any similar tube. even an rsvp ink tube.

    Ok cool.

How come your RSVP Backcap looks different?

there's this thing around the sides. What did you do to it?

  90. Ramen
    Date: Sun, Sep 14 2008 23:57:47

why did u sand the outer part of rsvp backcap.

  91. iamk34n3
    Date: Mon, Sep 15 2008 02:20:10

So that the rsvp cap can go over it smoothly.

Cool. Anyway, I'm gonna make the mod when I get enough money to get the pencils.

Just a question. Does the lead break easily when you drop it?

  93. Adam_ADD
    Date: Thu, Sep 18 2008 12:38:33

nope the lead doesnt break if you make it right.

is there a sub? for the mech pencil?

  95. Adam_ADD
    Date: Thu, Sep 18 2008 23:13:23

the only sub is supergrips used in making ballsigns mods

    y would u do that

  97. iamk34n3
    Date: Fri, Sep 19 2008 05:08:49

So the cap doesn't jam when you click down. If you treat it as a regular mechanical pencil, it's like trying to write while holding down the clicker in the back.

Can i use a signo tip at the front so that the COG is more towards the front or do i have to stick with a HGG tip?

  99. iamk34n3
    Date: Fri, Sep 19 2008 06:14:54

I'm sure if you sanded the G2 MP tip differently, you could get a signo tip to fit on it.

what do u use to click lead out, shaky tube or lead tube?!

  101. iamk34n3
    Date: Mon, Sep 22 2008 01:36:02

    The G2 MP isn't a shaker.

Edit: How many problems are you having with this mod? It seems like every other post is yours. -___-

yes i know but what does u use to push lead out?

  103. iamk34n3
    Date: Mon, Sep 22 2008 01:37:17

You push the rsvp cap down, which in turn pushes down the mp tube.

do u have any faster way to sand g2 tip down?

  105. iamk34n3
    Date: Mon, Sep 29 2008 01:16:52

You want to control your sanding because if you sand something too much, theres no turning back. But to answer your question, you could probably use some kind of power sander.

  106. Ramen
    Date: Mon, Sep 29 2008 01:20:48

no cuz like 2 times now the g2 tip broke in half because of sanding...

  107. Aerials
    Date: Wed, Oct 22 2008 00:55:42

Lol there are a few pages of dedicated question that Ramen and Glamouraz asked. I would like to say that u could try to super glue the extending tube with the g2 tube. After that you can just use some really strong tape to keep it all together.

One question though... i've been told that the med point has a larger diameter then fine pt but I can't tell the difference, is it true though?

I'm nto sure if I posted this yet, and I'm too lazy to check,
but do you guys know that you can also use a Pentel Icy or Pentel Champ for the MP mech?
You just have to cut the barrela little at a time and make sure you don't cut though the lead tube, but it works perfectly biggrin.gif
No sanding required, the HGG tip fits right on like it were a normal RSVP.

Yeah, but it makes the pen front-end heavy like the MSP does.

  114. MatthewK206
    Date: Wed, Oct 22 2008 04:50:22

    Hmm.
The Icy that I used made the pen more back heavy than a regular MX. I had to compensate with a signo tip. tongue.gif

  115. Glamouraz
    Date: Thu, Oct 23 2008 02:03:46

Yeah its good but don't you want it do be front heavy? cause the MX is already back heavy.

And I don't know about boring through the RSBP barrel but my MP lead tube fits right into the hole in the barrel.

    just wondering
if i used a rsvp MINI for this
would i still need the extra inktube at the back?

  119. Adam_ADD
    Date: Sun, Dec 21 2008 23:57:00

To make a Mini mp mx? you probably wont have to if you use a normal sized g2 mp.

  120. Swifty
    Date: Mon, Dec 22 2008 00:24:05

So the only reason it should be an RSVP med, is so the inktube can fit in the front barrel?

using a normal sized supergrip, i wouldnt need to right?
btw some questions, do i jam the hgg backplug all the way in, like really all the way in or?

  122. Adam_ADD
    Date: Mon, Dec 22 2008 13:44:10

and super grips are the same as g2 mps
as far as it can go in it depends on how you put the rsvp grip in. mine usually end up right around the ring on the grip.

The one i made looks veru fragile.. like it could break anytime.

I dropped it a few times by accident and nothing happened but I don't want to push it too far. The lead doesnt break it the tube too.

Does any of yours look fragile?

  126. XternalメDGN

looks fragile. all ive noticed is that the grip aera shakes pretty much. but other than that it isnt really fragile.
