All right. (I'm not leaving, and I was never able to put my thoughts on paper.)
Each day longer this board is pissing me off more and more. This is a the Universal Pen Spinning Board and when I decided to become member #2120 I wanted to start to spin like I saw on the videos that originally inspired me. But ever since, it seemed that the Summer started, the theme of this forum became less about penspinning and more about spamming and inactivity. All of the great and influencial spinners left or don't take this seriously anymore, and it leaves everyone else act like idiots. And this seems to be the root reason why so many people are leaving, doesn't it? I also get the feeling that, by no one's fault, this activity is not as popular as it was. Maybe it's the summer that is causing this randomness but I too get the feeling this board serves little purpose when it comes to spinning anymore. (Is this normal, does it happen every summer?) Maybe a special day when we get as many people to get on the board as possible (because there's over 3100 acounts) or we can get more collabs going, I don't know.
I just don't like it when no one else is moving.
I hope I'm not the only one.

I think its just summer.
It wasn't like this last summer tho.
I remember lots of activity from everyone, and a lot of psing was getting done.
But things change from time on, so you can't really blame anyone. -

Inactivity: I don't agree on inactivity... This place seems pretty active compared to last summer.
UPSB: I would say in each summer the amount of spam goes up. Last summer there were only about 100 active members I think (on UCPSB), so the spam went up by, but not to too much. Now with more members (450+) active, the amount of spam goes up a heck of a lot more.
Major events:I also don't see any major events on UPSB. I mean sure there is a Bic competition, but this is aimed at Europe when much of UPSB is not from Europe and hosted on a site away from UPSB. I think if people thought more of ladder and cared more about results, then this forum would be a lot better. There is also no major "now" event.
Levels of spinning: Related to that somewhat, there doesn't seem to be anything to force pen spinners to push themselves to that next level. A lot of spinners get to a decent level, then stop learning, only to stay on the forum with an ever decreasing interest on spinning itself.
More collabs? I don't think the idea of 'more collabs' is very clever. If anything, there are too many collabs, too many meaningless collabs with the same old spinning time after time. It's rare to see a good, new collab now. A UPSB collab might be a project to get people spinning, it might get finished now that it is the summer and people have more free time, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
Last summer?I think the only thing last summer that caused more spinning to be done was the elite six, for a while at least. It also was pretty active because of rivalry (Lordbojo vs Erirornal for example).
In conclusion, I think that UPSB may benefit from:
Greater rivalary between top spinners.
Greater interest in the ladder standings.
A truely major collab being organised that people actually care a lot about and work hard towards.
Less spam posts in serious forums.
Pen spinners who reach decent levels need to continue to push. It seems other forums (JEB, KPSA, FPSB for example) have spinners like this but on UPSB to find a decent spinner who pushes themselves above and beyond the rest is extremely rare.

hmm summer is always slow
last summer hmm last see... we did have a few podcasts...the research department released a few articles... ppl were claiming "UCPSB is dying"... we were mostly playing mafia games so yeah I wouldn't worry about it.

I guess you're right in that there is not a lot to look forward to in the summer and that might be your primary complaint but I can't be the only one organizing things around here. I'm going on vacation myself. If you want to get more involved and start new projects, you're free to do so.
Fall is gonna be busier because we're going to have a local tournament for sure.

It's hard for me to exactly explain myself but not exactly having more collabs, but as Mats said, some more major events and good competition.
And I should have taken into account on people on vacation. -

I suppose we could set up some podcasts but ther's no major events to talk about it would just be like a regular interview of some famous guy. we can't do long tournaments because ppl go on vacation so they cant participate at all, unless the competition is somehow team-based and they don't have to be there all the time.
I did run a team-tournament last summer, but it wasn't running as well as expected (maybe due to being in the summer) and since I'm going on vacation I can't run it now, but since we seem to have quite a few more teams on UPSB now I'm pretty sure we could run a sort of mini-team-tourney with UPSB and possible outside teams
and isn't there supposed to be a Kings of UPSB competition, not sure what happened to that. And what happened to the IRC Cup, where's round 2? Oh and nobody sent anything for my speed modding contest. -

Yea you're right. I didn't realize all of the attempted projects that never caught on. Everything will probably return to normal. I guess I just ignorantly made this topic but this is my first UPSB summer, I guess.
And yea I was thinking about sneaking in a video of me modding some bics and stealing the penwish prize. -

During the summer is mostly a time to go on vacation, go outside and be physically active for most people. As for me, I'm a big fan of sleepovers and I have only slept at my house maybe 8 days out of 2 months this whole summer. And my friends aren't big on spinning, and I tend to zone out and not pay attention when I'm spinning therefore I tend to ignore my friend's house that I'm sleeping over at if I spin. That's also the reason I haven't been as active on UPSB this summer. But, I started playing guitar and I've been doing that whenever I can, so I kinda "vacationed" from PS for a while. Once school starts though, I'll be back into spinning as I might be making a club and because my spinning pisses my teachers off. (And I like it)
