Why do people make fun and hate Jewish people so much? I only don't like Jewish people because of only one thing, they are cheapskates but other than that I don't see why people hate them so much. Do you guys have any ideas?

he's not saying that everyone hates jews, he just wants to know why so many jew jokes exist =\ and why some people hate on them so much

i think it was just the religious difference and it just carried on through generations =\--i dunno, just a possibly explanation that i thought up of right now ^^""

i think you're... what is it, making mounds out of... molehills?
jewish jokes exist because people want to make jokes, and other people are jewish.
just as people make jokes about black people, asian people, mexican people, white people, and your mom.
They don't really think your mom jumped in the air and got stuck.

dunno about the your mom ones xDD...but i think the rest are just from racism (like the jew jokes too)

I don't think so, at all. I make mexican jokes to my friends all the time. My mexican friends. And I make gay jokes. Wouldn't I be offended by that? They're just jokes, really. Of course SOME people mean them, but I think most people don't.

I'm jewish. I love Jew jokes. I'll post some when I'm not lazy.
And the reason why groups such as the KKK hate jews is because they feel that while the whites and the blacks conflict, the Jewish people will help no one and be be the majority. Which makes no sense to me. Or at least I heard that on tv from one of the convict supremecy guys. I think I remebered it wrong.

Alright let's seriously discuss this topic.

The reasons I've heard sited for dislike of Jewish people from people I know here who have moved to here (the UK) from the middle eastern regions has been that in the Jewish religion apparently Jewish people are seen as the most important people and all others exist only to be slaves for the Jewish people, or at least at some lower level. Also, it states something along the lines of Israel being the land only for the Jewish people and Jerusalam to be their capital.

Now I don't really now anything about the Jewish religion, but I can see how this might cause them to be disliked. It's also the Jewish state of Israel that seems to be causing more trouble than anyone in the middle east now, threatening to spark a war at anytime, and this may not help their popularity.

I'm Jewish myself and as TRoc, i do find Jew jokes funny.
i do not see why their are so many Jew jokes though.
for some reason i feel our religion is descend to be mocked and scapegoated.

they weren't popular enough to get their religion to spread to other countries
so now their religion has a culture.
    and they're israeliyys.

If I'm not wrong, Jews were discriminated against in the past because they had money, and held alot of power, which led to some anti-Jew rules (limiting their job vocations to moneylending, etc) especially during Hitler's regime, and people just perpetuated this discrimination.

Jewish are first and for all hated by the Christians for killing Jesus, that's the religious cause (even though he was Jewish himself).
Second- throughout time there have always been very rich Jews at banking and trading- which caused jealousy against them and lead to people hating Jews based on those few who succeeded.
Third- Jewish were always seen as a minority that never fit in any place they were- they were always outsiders, so it was convenient to blame them and accuse them of everything that went wrong.

Now about XXdef's statement that the Jewish religion didn't spread like Christianity and Muslim: those religions are meant for spreading out towards the masses, while Judaism isn't meant to be like that and it actually requires alot of effort and will to be Jewish.

Judaism was also to be spread towards the masses.
Christianity and Islam, if practiced right, are just as hard as Judaism.
It's just that people changed the original rules of the religion and people are lazy.
I mean seriously...the Bible says females are supposed to shave their heads...I don't see that anywhere?

Judaism was never meant to be spread over the masses.
There were never crusades or other wars in order to make other people believe in "our god".
But it was easier than today to become Jewish, it just wasn't spread out.
About Christianity and Islam being as hard as Judaism is probably right as they are variations of Judaism (you might find very big differences between the religions but they both were influenced from Judaism), and also- I didn't refer to it in my previous post.

And I would like to see the quote from the bible that says that woman have to shave their heads.

As far as I know you right, but some people say that because the mean that betrayed Jesus (not sure how to say his name in english) was Jewish, so they say Jesus is dead because of us.
I think, anyway, correct me if I'm wrong....

That's in the new testament which refers only to the Christians if I'm not wrong.
I don't know where you got the idea that the Jews sentenced Jesus to death but rather the Romans did, and Judas nearly turned him over.
Also- I recall we were the so call "chosen ones" and therefor we cannot spread the religion to the masses, but those who wish to join us are welcomed. Over the years it has gotten more difficult in order to do that due to bureaucratic nonsense...

I'm Catholic and I don't think I have met any Jewish people. But this is what was taught and which I have learned during Catechism:

The Israelites were God's chosen people, whom God freed from the Egyptians through Moses. And then they settled into Israel, and they (or at least some of them) became what we call Jews. I don't know when the term Jew or the Jewish identity came about, perhaps during the time of King David. From what I was taught, the Jewish Bible contains only the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. This is because for them, they are still waiting for the Messiah to come - meaning they don't believe Jesus is the Messiah. (Muslims, on the other hand, believe that Mohamed was the Messiah, and Jesus was a prophet.) Yahweh got mad at them because they kept Salvation to themselves; non-Jewish will not be saved. If I recall correctly, they weren't even allowed to mingle with the non-Jewish, especially the Samaritans. (Remember the story of the Good Samaritan and the story of Jesus talking to a Samaritan woman.)

So probably the saying that Judaism wasn't supposed to spread stems from this history. But the three religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - they all believe in the same God. And this makes me wonder sometimes, what is all the fighting about?

My take on why all these Jewish jokes...

... probably because they don't celebrate Christmas? biggrin.gif

Well I think accusing the Jews of sentencing Jesus to death is not such a big deal. Jesus and the 12 other guys were all Jewish so nothing wrong about Jews sentencing a Jew to death.

I got bored so I decided to elaborate on this.
Actually, "jewish" is a commonly spread misconception. You see, we're not supposed to be called jews, we're supposed to be called Israelites. The israelites were spread into 12 tribes, at some point 10 of them got exiled with 2 left, one of the bigger tribes overall, Judah, and another sub tribe that was affiliated with it. The reason this tribe was special, amongst others, is the fact that the royalty line(Saul, David, Solomon etc etc) was from that tribe and it was the tribe that held Jerusalem.
Anyway, after the exile, most of the Israelites were spread all over the world(which is why there are jews everywhere), but actually only a few of us are actually decedents of the "Judah" tribe. I'm not exactly sure why the world got fixed on "jews" but now you all know that it is actually wrong.

Jew jokes, like every other kind of joke, can be funny if it's told right. I'm a fan of them myself.

Yes, I hate those caps too.

I find it funny how some of you tried to make this a proper thread yet still wrote racist generalism.

There's a lot of politics to debate on our country but to be honest I really can't be arsed. Let's just say it's not all our fault and we're not "picking on the Palastines" sleep(1).gif
