This is a response to yesterdays spamming by "Professor".
Can we get an option to report a user (not just in posts). and say if the person gets 10 reports on him/her the account is suspended until a mod/admin decides otherwise. I think this would be useful in events like yesterday. where Professor was creating multi accounts and spamming (20 posts each) meaning he could have cheated/messed up polls.
Since Admins/Mods can't be on 24/7 we should be able to do something too rite?
just imo and wondering
GOOD JOB RORIX : btw -

but then members would report other members just for joke
you know what i mean
they wuld report them because they don't like them, or because they said something bad to them.... -

yea that is a problem....
How bout their only put on suspension if 10 people report him/her? or more?
and reporting for no valid reason can get you into trouble? Like a warning similar to the ones you get for spamming? -

You know posts used to get deleted when you reported them (or well, removed until a mod could see them over). Then I accidentally reported a whole thread, since I had messed it up by reporting the first post, got warned, and the function removed
Anyway, abuse would lead to ban so sure, this could work. -

I don't mean to shout but that was me who suggested it. Hmm I would like to have this power, in general I'm a pretty neutral and unbiased person.

decent idea but prone to abuse.
i prefer cleaning up manually in those cases and dealing with the reports. -

Yea, Thats why i suggested that: Abusing this feature would cause you to get a warning/ban from a mod/admin.
And, (if i wasn't clear enought)
Reports should come from 10 different people. *and mabe they give evidence? like a screenshot or something? < for mod/admin reference later onQUOTE (Zombo @ Aug 12 2008, 10:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>i prefer cleaning up manually in those cases and dealing with the reports.
The user Professor created 6 accounts and spammed with each one up to 20 posts (enought to vote on polls).
No mod was on that time, (untill Rorix came)
Think about it. I could find a time where no mod is on then I could create 5 accounts, and spam each one till i can vote. Thats 6 votes for me right there. (which is what professor did or we think)
And there isn't a way for you guys to find out where he voted with these accounts right? -

mods will be online eventually >_>
you can't expect them to react in the same minute whenever something happens. they have lives, you know -

yes yes, but how about when they ARN'T on.
because mods arn't on 24/7 is why im suggesting this.
Look at what Professor did when the mods wern't on. We were basically powerless to stop him. -

I don't even think it's possible to set it to auto-ban someone through reports? And Professor is nearly a one-of-a-kind case anyway.

If its a problem about mods not being on all the time, Zombo can just recruit more moderators who have more felixible time zones

i don't think that'll work technically speaking as i don't think invisionboard supports that feature...unless its been too long since i've been in an IPB admin panel
