Alright, after the first ECS, we, ECS, decided to host another tournament, however this time this is a team tournament with no limit on how long you've been spinning for.
To join you need...
-a team of 3 (and 1 substitute who can participate only in one round)
-to not have ever participated in a WT or a WC
-live in the US
PRIZE: AN IMPACT MX SIGNED BY KAM for each of the 4 members of the winning team.
Teams were announced September 17th.
First Round Matchups were announced September 25th
First video is due on October 8th.
-On huroni's suggestion (well, i'm making a slight change to it), nominate 1 person in that group of 4 to be the manager--preferably the substitute spinner--who will be responsible for collecting vids from his team and sending it in
-On ello's suggestion, teams will be chosen randomly--the team members can then decide who will be the substitute afterwards
-Don't be afraid to join if you are still a beginning spinner, you can still help out your team and there may be a stronger spinner on your team who will help you out
There may be changes in rules and such later on as mhig provides me with updates since i'm not really the organizer of this tournament, but this is the general idea. Until then, I'll leave it at this.
Here are the teams for the tournament. Don't be upset with who you are with if you don't particularly like your team; each team was made with the skill level of each team as equal as possible and as random as possible.

Why don't you make this a tourney open to all UPSBers? Us that aren't noobs, but not WT class don't really have any chance to compete in anything except ladder. :/

if you do it that way, it's like lits said, it's pretty obvious who will win and that might discourage weaker spinners to join because it's just a waste of time, they would have no chance of winning against basically anyone on the genesis team, or even the asf/encore teams -

One way to do it is if people have a rep for being good like eriror they could get a by in to later rounds so that they want be beating people on the first and second rounds. So maybe on the third or fourth round put eriror(or anybody else that is considered much better than the rest of us) in the mix.

either way it'll be unfair so we'll just stick with the idea of people picking their own teams for now. if things go too unfairly then we'll do a little switching around if the teams would allow it. -

yup, it's all based on luck now cause of what you mentioned before
vic, nate, asian tim, you, tek, pholord, and a few others'll probably end up making your own set of 2 teams which will just crush the competition easily
the weaker spinners will group together cause the stronger ones won't want to team up with them in fear of losing
so thsi way, it'll be semi-fair
but whoever gets vic or pholord will obviously get an upper hand, but at least someone else may get asian tim or you, and then they'll at least have somewhat of a chance if they can beat everyone else on vic's team except for vic--leading to a 2:3 victory for the team without vic; the opposite can also happen

Joining will be open probably until a week or two before October 1st. Then we'll take that time to randomize the people and choose teams between the last two weeks of september and october. Also in that time, we'll be choosing who battles who. And also in that time, spinners should tell us who they want as their sub spinner.
And yes, we'll draw a diagram, either that or i'll just screenshot my excel page that I have set up with the list of teams on the left, and then the winning teams of each round proceed to the next column, and so on, until we reach a winner.
As for the list of participating spinners, I was going to just put up a list of all the teams and who's in it sometime in the end of september, but I'll do that for now. -

how do you justify who is an expert or not?
we originally had a restriction for each person who enters to have been spinning for under a year, but we overturned that decision due to the requests that people made to join even though they were +1 year
then we decided to perhaps open it up to the whole world, but exclude people who has ever participated in the wc or wt's... but then we decided to make this a US- only competition cause of 1. the reason that i provided before, and 2. to have a semi-big tournament ONLY with US spinners, to i guess...sorta prove that the US is highly involved in penspinning as well instead of just japan and korea and stuff.... (but reason #2.. doesn't contribute that much to the reason why this was opened to only US spinners)
and yes, there are some reallyyy good spinners in the US, but certainly not as many as there are in other countries........ -

due to the many changes that have taken place i will be selecting teams randomly but based on level to keep teams fair. team results will be out by wednesday this week
afterwards we will show the rackets on the 1st of October and from there we will officially start the tournament itself
EDIT: sorry i forgot, thank you for pointing out about judging shadowserpant. judging will be based off of:
Creativity _/5
how different techniques may be used and linked together
Difficulty _/5
how difficult the tricks in the combo are
Camera Angle _/5
how much of the hand appears on the screen or how clear the screen itself is
Execution _/5
how the combo itself is layed out and spun
TOTAL: _/20
so for the tournament, each team will have their matches and we add up the points of each individual team. whichever team has more points goes onto the next round -

I disagree with the judging criteria based on camera angle because some people have sucky cameras, and it's not really they fault their shot is bad quality or unclear. For the camera angle, that would be kind of hard to do too. I might as well spend more time finding the right angle and setting up than I will spin.

Yea, its not like judge A will say: Oh, Xeros camera was laggy, im giving him a 1/5 he had a good angle but the lag ruined the combo.
that would influence the rest of his scores. What we mean by camera angle is how the camera is posistioned, if the hand stays on camera the entire time, and if the view is enjoyable. it really doesnt effect over all points, but its something for a spinner to consider.
and with mhig, his vids are always shaky because he holds it with his hand, which is really hard to do, but it has a good angle for his bakfalls, which look cool from an angle above.

err... mhig can correct me on this, but as of right now, i'll say this...
-decide on the substitute by talking to each other
(the sub would probably be the one who's the most busiest and can't film every round or something)
-and as for not wanting your sub to spin, i guess that would be allowed... but it's strongly encouraged that you use your sub at least once during the whole tournament because
1. if your team wins, and your sub gets the signed imx, it won't be really fair to the 3 spinners who worked so hard all rounds trying to make teh best vid possible who get the same prize as teh person who did nothing at all
2. if you don't use your sub at all, it's rude to the sub because it's like, just stay out of our way and you don't have to do anything
subs are there in case a certain spinner cannot compete during 1 round--but even if all 3 spinners can spin during all the rounds, it's just a nice thing to do to allow the sub to spin for a round so that they can feel like they're part of the team as well (unless of course the sub doesn't have the time to make a vid, which may be the case since they became the sub in the first place because of time restrictions)
so i'm just gonna tell you that it's strongly encouraged, but you wont' be disqualified if you don't use your sub -

It's like this:
Let's say your video and everyone else's on your team gets a perfect 5. Total of 20 points, for your team.
Now, everyone one your opponants team gets only a 4. Total of 16 points, for their team. 20 is greater than 16, your team wins.

how the combo itself is layed out and spun
TOTAL: _/20
so for the tournament, each team will have their matches and we add up the points of each individual team. whichever team has more points goes onto the next round
It's like how a school team project is graded. Each video/combo is out of 20 points. And every combo's grade, of your team, is put together for your final grade. -

Using a super long pen will obviously affect the difficulty of your combo so its your choice what you use. For example bak x3 with an mx would probably be considered more difficult than bak x5 with a 30cm pen
