thats mah collection ^^
Yep those are pretty much made out of paper and glue
------------------------------
Well if you wanna get started you could Go to there to find "Templates"
http://www.nintendopapercraft.com/
(To find more links for papercrafting on the top of the nintendo page there will be a button called "links" click around the page ;D)
They have Many kinds of papercrafts like Brawl, papercraft, zelda, Pokemon,Cars, Gaming systems (i.e. xbox 360,wii,gameboy) , pretty much anything
Oh and i recomend downloading winrar/winzip and adobe reader to open most of the files on there and print them out

-Cutting
Here's an analysis - this is going by looks and common-sense mixed in with educated guesses, as I've only actually used a #11 (but I can generally tell what it's good for just by looking)
#3 - blade has a concave curvature - useless for papercrafting.
#10 - small curved blade, flat on the back - may be good for navigating those pesky curves.
#11 - this comes with most craft knives, whether it be an X-Acto, Birchcraft, Swann-Morton or whatever your countries equivalent is - good blade overall and the back can usually be used for scoring with a little practice, although it can be difficult to navigate curves (tip: rotate the paper, not the blade).
#12 - similar to #10, but not flat on the back - would also be good for curves, but the #10 would probably be better.
#15 - a saw blade - obviously no good for papercraft.
#16 - a weird angled shape - inconvenient for papercraft because there would be a decreased level of control.
#17 - straight end for chiselling and shaving - certainly not for papercraft.
#18 - like #17, but thicker - this would be even worse.
#19 - same as #24, but an even smaller angle - may be even better for curves, but probably not the absolute best shape (one of the curved blades would probably be best).
#22 - longer than #10, may be good for curves.
#23 - double curved edge, coming to a point - may be good for curves as well as cutting very small tabs.
#24 - same shape as #11, but a smaller angle - may be slightly better for curves, but cannot be sure.
#25 - another curved edge - this one probably wouldn't be as good as some of the above curved edges.
#26 - a very long straight edge - probably not useful for papercraft
#27 - a smaller saw blade than #15 - useless for papercraft.
#28 - concave curvature - useless for papercraft.
#100+ - woodcarving blades - useless for papercraft.
----------
The #19 and #24 would be worthwhile tests to see if they curve better than your standard #11, and it'd be interesting to see how the curved blades would work as well. Of course, I haven't listed all of them as numbers are clearly missing, but it'll give something to look out for. As most of them are only a guess, I may be wrong - I'm just relying on my general smarts here (except the ones I explicitly state as being useless, they're quite obvious).

Oh and I use an exacto knife
-Glue
There are a number of glues you can use, depending on what's available, so to make sure you get what you need you need to ask yourself a couple of questions:
First and foremost: Are you using an inkjet, or laser printer? If you're using an inkjet be forewarned that many glues, especially water-based ones (common craft glue, acquadhere, etc.), have the potential to make inkjet ink bleed, so either be extremely careful with the glue or get one that isn't water-based, because it'll make the ink bleed (this is particularly bad for grey/black parts, which seperate into a lot of colours). If you are using a laser printer then that's good - your glue is unlikely to make it bleed because the laser toner is bonded to the paper by heat.
Make sure the glue is acid-free. If it isn't it will eventually eat your paper and probably your textures. For this reason, super glues aren't a really good idea.
Make sure the glue dries clear. This is actually more of a precaution than a requirement, in case you get small amounts of glue in visible spots. Not necessary, but highly recommended, even for people who are very neat.
Make sure the glue is fast drying. This reduces the likelihood of the papercraft falling apart when you're gluing a tab, or even when you set it down to do something else.
Second question: At what cost? If you don't have a lot of money then you're going to have to settle for an ordinary acid-free, non-water based (except for laser printed models) glue. If you have a bit of extra money you might want to give a rubber-based glue a try. They're very sticky and should hold together after a short wait. Also, if you wait a moment for it to become tacky before pressing the surfaces together, I can pretty much guarantee it'll never come apart without destroying the paper.
If you're unsure about a particular glue, here's a list of types of glue. Many of them are pretty obvious, but in a couple of cases you might find a use for that glue you've had lying around unused for a while:
Cyanoacrylates - bad. This is another name for super glue, so it's not acid-free.
Foam Craft Glue - probably not that bad, and it can be used as a contact cement. I can't really testify because I know little of it. It is, however, designed for foam --> foam/paper/etc adhesion. Try it if you wish, but only if you happen to have some lying around. Not sure if it dries clear.
Glitter Glue - pretty obvious. Don't use it unless you want your papercraft to have coloured sparkly glitter all over it.
Glue Stick - not recommended. It can be fiddly and difficult to use. The bond strength on most glue sticks isn't all that strong after a short period of time either. It's probably the cheapest option, but make sure it's acid-free, as some aren't.
Hot Glue - No. It's very messy and I'm not sure, but it might cause laser printing to bleed. It also doesn't dry clear.
Powdered Glue - Probably not. It requires mixing with water to work so it's definately out of the question for inkjet printings. It's also pretty gluggy and might make things a bit messy. May or may not dry clear.
Royal Icing - Mmmm, edible papercraft (it's the glue used for gingerbread houses and stuff). Would be interesting to use this on the Portal Cake papercraft though.
Wallpaper Paste - Okay, that's just stupid. I'm not even going there.
White Glue - Your acquadhere and similar stuff. Actually pretty good and dries clear, but watch out for your ink bleeding.
Latex Adhesive - I've heard of this being used, and it's apparently quite good. Wait until it's beginning to get sticky and then press the tab to the paper. Look for one that dries clear.
(Also taken from elemental fire @ http://www.nintendopapercraft.com/forum/vi...f=10&t=139)
And I use "original tacky glue" works great and dries fast ^^

well, i just made my first papercrafts, a pokeball and a mario mushroom
too bad there's no top or bottom though, that's disappointing
well, now that i made some easy ones, i might make the pikachu some other time--too tired/lazy right now
thank you toast and nate for introducing me to this stuff ^^
EDIT: just added a mushroom papercraft too, but unfortunately, i think i did something in the wrong order, can i can't get the bottom piece to glue onto the upper piece
so it's just two seperate pieces now on top of each other--it looks alright, but if i even poke it from above the slightest bit, it will be altered *sigh* well, w/e, i'll do better next time -

Ok, you guys may be skeptical when i say this, but cardstock is most definitely NOT necessary. Unless you are making something that takes like 5 pages + or stands up like 30 cm + there is really no point in using cardstock.
Support or durability are the only benefits of cardstock, but if you are a beginner and making small models (1 page-2 page) it is better to use printer paper since it is easier.
Take it from me, it is much more tedious to work with cardstock then it is with normal paper.
You see, with normal paper all of your folds come very easily, since the paper is so thin. However, with cardstock, the paper is so thick that you can NOT bend it without scoring, (tracing foldlines with a blunt object) and adds an extra step to everything you are doing. You should score normal paper too, but it is not as necessary.
Also, when working with cardstock, you must wait for each tab to dry. (in many most situations, not all, you will learn when you have to wait/keep working with experience) that is because card stock is thicker, so more resistance is being applied on to each glued tab. gluing 3 tabs at once may cause some tabs to be dislocated since the folds are all pulling on each other so hard. with normal paper, this is (still a problem) less of a factor, and waiting 10 seconds is usually adequate for normal paper to hold. The most recent model i made, Hello Kitty, needed over aminute for each tab to dry because the pieces were so small and tabs were tiny.
Normal paper, believe it or not also LOOKS better when finished, since cardstock is so thick that white lines often appear at the corners of pieces since you can see cardstock from its side.
After all this, why WOULD you use cardstock at all?
When you become better at papercraft, you often want your models to last as long as possible, and cardstock helps that. Cardstock also gives a sense of "finesse" to your models, so they don't get blown over and have a stronger look when you hold them/display them. Also, scoring on cardstock seems much more appropriate on cardstock, as compared to paper where it feels like you are gonna tear the sheets constantly. Smaller tabs also become more sturdy, and become difficult to tear. Plus, your models don't fall over when somebody opens the door
As for the white lines appearing on the side of the models, if they bug you that badly, use markers to colour them to make them less noticeable. -

I took a look at those templates, and i must say, I am really confused
i have no clue what unit of measurement they are using, there seems to be tons of fold lines missing, and lots of pieces muissing
i don't think this is a template, rather it is a guide on how to make the shapes of each piece, etc, but even in that sense there are no fold lines at all (none of those pink, green, blue lines would produce the effect shown on the homepage) that seem to make sense
you are better off asking a swedish guy, or google. I have no clue, makes no sense to me. This is definitely not a cut-out-make template, since the "jakebox" definitely requires more than one page. -

Just finished a couple of days ago, this one took much longer then expected. It is lineless, and foldless (for the most part) note the roundless of everything, i basically skipped all of the folds and glued all the tabs together for a rounder effect.
CC and cheese-kun from the anime Code Geass!
I took cheese kun's hat and put it on cc
I'm sure many of you geass fans like rorix, xshadowfire know who this is! this was fun to make!

eek, sorry for the late reply
the hello kitty one, honestly it took me about 3 hours, but it could have easily been an hour or 2
i just work really slow, and i spent a lot of time making sure each tab dried before i moved on
after all, the more time you spend, the better you feel when you finally finish. this applies to something even as simple as the hello kitty. i'll post the template since many of you guys seem to really like it!

I've been looking at the JakeBox, since I'd love to make one... What they give you is a PDF document that you can then edit in Adobe Illustrator, for example, and lay your JakeBox out the way you want, and then send it to them for printing and ordering.
It's not a template for folding; my understanding is that it's a patented design.
Sure love to know how to make it, though.
From www.amsteeman.com:
The cover of the JakeBox packaging for Rolled Gold+ is made from 300 gr/m2 Invercote G, a paperboard quality of Iggesund (www. iggesundpaperboard.com) while the interior and claws are from 180 gr/m2, which allows frequent flexing and folding by opening and closing the box without cracking.
So it's two separate pieces glued together. -

Not really... I use scissors that are shaped like a pair of tweezers but with blades on the 2 sides on the inside and the top part is curved instead of pointy. It's ideal for precision cutting. I have a X-Acto knife but I don't use it as much as my scissors because I'm not used to it.
Anyways, I'm working on the Yamaha MT-01 papercraft. I recommend it for the people who wants more challenging stuff. -

Hey guys, this is my first papercraft xD
it was for a project for history class
I had to make a model of something that could be put into a museum but I didn't know what to make.
With 2 days left until the model was due, I remembered reading about something called papercraft on UPSB
I found this thread again and quickly found a nice looking template that I could use
thanks a lot for making this thread man, you really saved my history mark
