UPSB v3
General Discussion / UPSB wristband
Would You Buy One

Just an idea I had. I just thought it would be a good idea, for like UPSB to have one, unless we have one already... then like if we participate in collabs, people will see what board we are from and what-not. I know its the Universe Pen Spinning Board, but most of us are from US/Canada... So yeah, just a thought
-

not now, maybe later. right now i'm more worried about hosting than anything else.
-
Date: Sun, Sep 23 2007 09:23:02
Simply because UPSB is not a commercial business handled by one person.
-
Date: Sun, Sep 23 2007 09:44:58
And because you wrote Universe PSB and not Universal PSB
-

Haha, I'll fix now. Thanks for tip...And for Tay, does it really matter?UPSB is a community...we need something like a wristband, stylish, to distinguish ourselves...Dont you agree? -
Date: Sun, Sep 23 2007 18:12:54
We should use our pen spinning to distinguish ourselves, not a wristband or anything.
-
Date: Sun, Sep 23 2007 19:11:08
just get a ucpsb bictory or RSVP mod and erase the "C"
or we can always make a line of UPSB inserts... -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 04:02:51
Surely, we don't need a wrist band or anything for that matter to differentiate ourselves from the others. A good spinning style works.
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 04:18:16
well i would think (at least for me) the primary reason for buying such a wristband is its usage (sweat reduction), fashion accessory, and collection. not really to "differentiate" yourself.
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 04:35:28
We really dont need one right now. Zombo is right. Besides, I dont think people would even notice the text on the wristbands.
And if you want to differentiate, lets talk shirts.! -

In the previous topic from earlier. Huroni had the idea of making an official UPSB wristband. Well in the past week or so i've thought about actually going through with it. But if I am going to do this I just want to get an idea of how many people would them. If the number is great enough I might be able to order some in the next month or so.
Pricing: From the quotes i've gotten for me to breakeven Ideally they'd be at 6.50$ a piece. -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 04:53:20
Totally
I'd buy one =) -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 04:57:23
I cant vote soo yea I'd buy one.

well... as far as I'm concerned, nothing is "official" without our consent. -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 05:07:29
IF made then i would be when i get the money. I would surely like to have a wristband, it would look nice on vids
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 05:25:19
An "official" one would be best but an unofficial wristband would be good too XD
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 05:32:57
in the words of zombo, Legistics can be worked out, but I really want to see UPSB line of stuff be out. not just bics and stuff. but be like japan and push an organizational type of thing. sounds retarded maybe. But it'd be really interesting.
-

i would buy one
but i cant vote -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 05:45:15
by all means. I'm for wristbands. i'm even more willing to get it actually going.
-

it's a question of:
1) If it's deemed an official product, then it must get our seal of approval. This mean the product must be of good quality since it's basically sold by using our "brand".
2) If UPSB starts to consider sponsorship deals with manufacturers which require exclusive rights to UPSB products, then obviously outsiders cannot sell those.
3) UPSB barely opened, we need to wait a while before we can work these things out. -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 11:36:06
Iwould if I could, nulled
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 11:41:55
No doubt, I'd buy one right away!!
i allready have a PDS one, nothing will be better then a UPSB one! -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 12:03:17
if people sell them..whose gonna be selling them??zombo?
-
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 12:11:26
The person who put in the order.

I recently noticed the donate button at the bottom.
How about this? If you donate a certain amount you get a wristband.
Say the wristbands cost $5. If you donate $10 to the board you get a wristband.
This way everybody can get the wristband that they want and the board will get the money that it needs for hosting. -
Date: Mon, Sep 24 2007 21:33:35
@CPC: Not a bad idea...
Someone could communicate to some sportswear manufacturer and order x number of custom wristbands. I envision something kind of like Eso's bictory giveaway... -

Yeah, I agree with that..I actually wanted to say that, instead of differentiate... So yeah, collection, accessory. -
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 00:16:57
CPC has a great idea imo...UPSB gets money to pay for bandwidth (or w/e) and the person donating gets a wristband. Win-win.
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 00:24:10
Make a leather wristband!!!! And i would pay up to 10 bucks for one.
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 00:25:50
Wouldn't a real leather wristband cost a lot more than $10?
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 00:49:04
I would totally by one
But the only problem for me is that everyone's going to start wearing wristbands, so it won't be (as) original...but I'd definatly buy one if it they came out. -

Doesn't have to be real leather. Just that smooth, black, flexible, leather-like wristband. Those are easy to print on unlike Sweatbands where you have to sue UPSB on. -

-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 02:04:41
well, we think we just might pull it off and do something 'eso"-style. but it won't happen overnight though.
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 02:16:42
i'll agree with zombo on holding off for right now. But yeah, I do like the donation idea. The only trouble is, 400$ is a lot of money for me to put down for wristbands, I at least need some bit of compensation. For being in college it's a hefty chunk of change. I'll be more than willing to, it's just a matter of I want to at least get majority back, like 250-300$ and the rest can go towards donations by all means. So there's still some stuff to be worked out as zombo said
-

I know this all in speculation for now, but let me say that buying wristbands and buying pens are two totally different venues. Pens don't cost much, wristbands do. Unless you're willing to part with $400 voluntarily, I highly doubt you will do things my "way." Someone asked me for some advice and I wanted to point out that if you want to sell the wristbands and break even, you'll need some kind of e-commerce software to manage all the credit/debit cards and Paypal accounts. More than likely, this will not happen unless you plan to continue this kind of business in the long run. So in the meantime, I suggest you somehow accept payment either through Paypal or by money order. It sucks that a lot of kids here are overseas and do not have access to a bank to exchange currency, nor have a personal bank account. I don't know how to overcome that either...
And for your model, I suggest that you first receive payment, THEN ship the wristbands over. It's a lot more secure than what I did, but I wanted to be fair and square in the pricing. -
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 03:18:52
Yes.
Eso is right. I would wait for the orders to come in, then send out the wristbands to whoever sent money.
but this idea is great.

uhh yes sure, but the general idea was to make a fundraising event where we send all wristbands at once to everybody, not some kind of persistent store.
i dont like those wristbands. they're not even wristbands, they're just bracelets like those Live Strong ones. A wrist band for me is a sweat absorber, like tennis players have. -
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 04:03:43
i would like to wear UPSB sweat bands while i played tennis
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 19:36:31
Fundraiser? I see. Somehow I doubt you will break even since most kids don't have money anyways.
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 19:59:00
Ehhh We dont really need a wrist band. Most of us wont even use it as a sweat absorber.
-
Date: Tue, Sep 25 2007 21:35:04
We could always have shirts or sweaters. I know that one person doesn't handle UPSB as such, but someone has to pay the bills so maybe the proceeds could cover any costs.

by fundraising i mean fixed price per item. -

haha
-

If the shirts are as expensive as the PDS ones...sales would EPIC SUCK
sweatband aka wristband would be the best choice.
Then again we could just get tatoos -

Dont get freaking silicone crap.
They're noobish, everyone USED to have it.
Sweatband are for posers.
Metal watch FTW!!!! -
Date: Thu, Sep 27 2007 13:14:25
I thought it was obvious we wouldn't have any wristbands already..?
-
Date: Thu, Sep 27 2007 20:02:35
We can still discuss it until we do get them.
-

the entire business of wristbands get tricky. In terms, what actually would work out the best, would be to talk to Penwish or Jetpens. Sell the wristbands to them. they can then distribute on a larger scale. I would just be providing it. that way I can break even. So that would leave a Win-Win for me. but i'm not sure on the behalf of pen sites because I don't want to see these be jacked up in price to like 8.50$ for a wristband. But I already have financial software. Nothing new to me. My entire family is in the business industry, so I have all the stuff ready. I just want to find out what it would take to get a mutual agreement between myself and UPSB moderators/sponsors and everything.
Btw, Silicone Wristbands are kinda annoying/out of style. They actually make pen spinning more troublesome.
