Advanced Tricks / Continuous Shadow

I've been trying to do continuous shadows for about three days now but have failed miserably. So my question is how should I go about reseting the pen to do the next shadow?
All my experimentation has lead to nothing but failure. :~( -

Practicing Shadow -> Charge also works

Just keep practicing shadows. That's all really. Once you get better, you'll be able to catch the pen so that you can shadow again immediately. My shadows became a lot smoother after I did a lot of practicing -- which was just a few days ago.

When you go for the catch, open up so there's a gap right at the end of your fingers to catch the pen with.

it's really annoying that so often the answer is "keep practising" but that's about it.
if you can do a shadow pretty well then i'd suggest putting a film on and just keep doing shadows while you watch. by the end of the film you'll find yourself doing them much better without really trying.
also K4S's suggestion of [shadow still - charge cont.] is a great idea. the charge gives a little time to reposition for the next shadow while keeping the pen in motion. -

Thanks everyone, the charge really helps alot. I'll go back to my room to practice now, and arise with new skills tomorrow!

Bend down 2 (if doing shadow still in the 12 slot) right before catching it and do a charge by moving 2 down and 1 up to get the next shadow going. Should work ^^

Hi. I've been practicing the shadows (as you've probably concluded by now), and I have trouble 'resetting' the pen to the position where I could do another shadow right away.
Are there any important tips for that?
I liked how Eso said in his tutorial how the cont. thumbaround had two things: letting the pen slide, and moving the thumb back and forth (kinda). Are there similar things for the shadow, as well? -

actually, when most people do shadow it's already in the position to do another shadow.
i think you're just catching it too late.
when doing another shadow, you catch it earlier, but to do a trick that require the long side on the palm side, you need to spread your fingers and let it slide. -

That's odd...
I found that when about to catch the pen after the free rotation on top of the fingers, catching it as far out as possible helps. After the stretched catch, I can return the pen to the starting position.
So I guess that's it for this.. If anyone has more tips, please post them -

Actually, you should try just opening your fingers a little bit, just so that it's only wide enough so that you can catch it in the tips of your fingers. It worked for me.

Oh yeah, that's it. Now it works. Thanks a lot!
